Not really. I'm a business-trip one-bagger and my daypack would need to carry/protect a 15" MBP, 12.9" iPad, notebook, etc around a large city. I can't find anything both packable and durable that also doesn't make me (6', 300lbs) look like I have a kid's backpack. When I get my new travel bag (probably Peak Design), I think I'll just try and flatpack my Synapse or maybe a Boundary Supply Errant inside.
Wow you guys read my mind. Was waiting for a detailed review. I ordered this as one bag full time travel to replace my freerain24 1.0. It would suck if the stitching separated and the zipper broke during travel.
Very cool you're going to 1 bag with this! If it was my standalone pack, I think I'd trust the Freerain 2.0 a bit more with the roll top & buckle system. The zipper breaking or coming off the coils could be a tough one if it's your only bag! We haven't had any first-hand issues yet, just have heard anecdotally and thing the zippers could be more robust. - Tom
Hi, long time watcher first time commenter.. What's the size of the laptop you put in the bag? Would it fit a 15" laptop with a protective sleeve? thanks!
Thanks for reaching out, Can Koklu! The laptop in this video is a 15" Macbook Pro which just fits in this pack with a sleeve. You can check out the full review for a close-up image to give you an idea of how much space it takes up. packhacker.com/travel-gear/matador/freefly16/ Hope this helps! 😊 - Rebecca
Thanks for the review ! I'm looking for a daypack convertible from backpack to messenger bag, small enough to go as a "personal item" on most airlines and big enough for a 13" laptop and extra stuff. I've seen the Topo Commuter Briefcase but any idea for something in this vibe that doesn't cost 200$ ?
You could check out the Daily Backpack by Standard Luggage Co. ( packhacker.com/travel-gear/standard-luggage-co/daily-backpack/ ) or the Aer Flight Pack 2 ( packhacker.com/travel-gear/aer/flight-pack-2/ ). Hope that helps! Stay tuned for more reviews that may help you out, too. 😊 -Hannah
I own the Patagonia Tres Pack 25l, which might fit for you. It's not perfect, I'm missing waist straps (even though it's only 25l, it can get quite heavy when I pack my tech gear) and some organisational dividers in the front pocket, but otherwise it's great.
Hey Marcus! It depends on the size of the bicycle helmet, but to verify you can find all of the size specifications of the Matador Freefly16 in the full review here packhacker.com/travel-gear/matador/freefly16/ 😊 - Rebecca
Do you travel with a packable daypack?
Pack Hacker how does this compare to arcteryx index 15?
Yep. No durability issues with my Mystery Ranch In-and-Out!
Yes, technically since freefly16 is my only baggage. I do travel with a packable shopping bag (seatosummit, cordura as well) for my supermarket needs
My handy dandy sea to summit ultra-sil 20L pack is still hanging on. Use it at least once per month.

Has Matador released an updated version of this pack that has addressed some of these durability issues?
Yes - always use one of these. Not totally sold on this one with your cons.
Which one do you use Greg? And totally get you - we're here to be as objective as possible!

any comparable product? minimalist look (no giant logos), packable and similar size.
Can it hold a 14" laptop? I need a packable backpack that can hold a small laptop. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the review! Between this bag and the Tortuga Setout Packable Daypack, which do you prefer? Would they perform similarly in rain?
They're both great packs! However, the Tortuga Setout Packable Daypack rated a bit higher for us!

When's the Topo Design Travel Bag review coming?
In the near future 🙈😉
Great detailed review. You said the pouch is falling apart but how's the bag it self holding up?
Hey Junr34 - so far the bag is still going strong. 👍 Thanks for watching! 😊
