Steve definitely has his father's talent. This may be his father's show, but for father and son to have the same talent and share it with us, that's beyond recognition and my hats off to both of them for helping us learn to paint better. And, for Steve to actually finish his father's painting and sell it for that much...wow! I was blown away.
He couldn't even sell any of his own paintings bc he couldn't use the name Ross. He finally gave in and gave the evil people what they wanted so he could finally start painting again and teaching others.
He has said before that pinks tend to attract the eyes of potential buyers. The eye sees red first before any other color, so I imagine it has served him well to be pink-heavy.
@@cherylmailloux9647 yes it does. Its the cameraman running away. Bob said everytime he clean the brush, the cameraman moved away, which explains why he always laughed everytime he clean the brush
When I watch these guys paint, I dont understand the meaning of life anymore. How the fuck can you make such detailed textures of snowy mountains with a few brushes?
i guess it is actually the way the brush bristles and the knife edge physically react to the canvas that creates this desired effect. Although it certainly would take skill and practice to do it properly. It ain't magic heh
Wow, he’s really got the ability to explain and teach-and even has a touch of his dad’s charisma in telling little amusing tidbits. This was a good one
This is totally my favorite painting Steve did on the Joy of Painting! And that story of how he finished one of his dad's paintings in front of 30 people was great, I love when he shows some of his father's humor
Even one second into the comment section will make you miss the key parts of the episode! You scroll down for one second, and when you go up the whole painting has changed! AMAZING!!!
I don't get the fuss about this episode. Just because Steve isn't his dad and doesn't have his voice or vibe doesn't automatically make this bad. This was actually an impressive showing considering whose shoes he was filling.
+Michael “MHunterG” Gorman For those who achieve ASMR or are very soothed by his voice, I can kind of see how they're bummed to not get a new episode to relax to. But while I find Bob soothing I still enjoy seeing these guests (especially his son) paint occasionally. I personally have never seen others who use the Bob Ross method when it comes to painting so it's neat to see what others do with the same technique as him. And...there are SO many episodes people can go back to for ASMR/soothing/sleep that there's no need at all to whine about it or call him names or insult this channel which is awesome giving us all these episodes.
Is Steve wearing a class ring...? He's definitely working some bling on that index finger. Where his dad rocks the disco amulet, Steve's rocking the finger bling.
It's so nice that people were asking for an episode with Steve. Now on youtube if an episode of a show features a guest host, half of the comments are "No, we don't want this guy. Bring back the original guy".
+Luck thank you for not lumping me in with the troll Internet kids of my generation. My favorite part of these videos were how nice all the comments were on them, it was like Bob Ross and company couldn't be touched by the idiots online and it saddens me that the happiness and niceness is slowly being leached from the comment section.
+Luck I'm sorry for saying thanks then? it wasn't that old of a comment. 2 months isn't that long ago, especially if I'm saying thanks for not grouping me with the idiots of my generation. But I guess you found a way to group me with them anyways. Bravo to you.
ChristineES44 well if you think about his father was a Sargent so he was probably raised quite strict. My mom father was in the army and she was raised very strict, straight back, eat all your dinner type of shit. So not unhappy, just serious like you guessed.
Goodbye Mr. Anderson A sargent who disliked it and went on to feed squirrels from a bottle. I don’t think there was a problem with being overly strict.
Might be blasphemy but IMO this son outshines his Father. Now I'm sure Bob wouldn't mind as any great Father wants their children to surpass them. Stevens mountains are on point!
Ah... Me and my dad always used to paint when I was little. I remember quite fondly The Joy of Painting always fit somewhere in the mix. I can almost smell the oil paints sifting through my phone screen! Thanks for all of the nostalgia, and the generosity to provide each and every episode at your team's own cost. :)
I love how both Steve and Bob have their shirts undone in earlier seasons. God I loved the 80s. Like I heard a million times before "like father like son" They even have identical hands. Bob is so incredibility proud of his son and its touching to see him express that.
I just love watching the joy of painting. For a long time now, I have been wanting to learn how to paint like this. It’s just absolutely fascinating as to what you can do with this technique. I hope to find some kind of class or something to learn how to paint
This warms my heart to know there is Bob Ross Jr. He doesn't look to happy but he is very talkative and full of knowledge, alot more cheerful than I first thought! Please tell me Steve has his own show of some sort!
OMYGOD this painting is absolutely GORGEOUS!! I just love that Steve followed in his father Bob's footsteps but still made a name for himself!! They are SO very talented and their color styles and techniques are SICK!!🥰🥰🖌️🎨
I imagined bob in the corner talking to a producer or something just super casual... Kinda like the scene in Mrs. Doubtfire, when Robin Williams is watching the old guy with the dinosaurs and talking to his boss
Wow this is so beautiful 😍 how nice u are Bob giving ur son a chance to be what he wants,,so proud of you both,ur such a beautiful father thanks and God bless your glorious family amen.🏔️🏞️🌴🌲🌼🍁
I tried my first painting tonight. Not too bad. I'm having trouble keeping my solvent clean. Also had issues with the highlights sticking to the painting. I couldn't find Prussian Blue, so I used Sky Blue. The blue overpowered everything. I'll keep practicing. Much harder than it looks.
If the highlight is sticking, it's because there's to much paint of the canvas and thick paint doesn't sit well on top of more thick paint. If you use a little paint thinner for the highlight color, it will stick easier to the canvas.
The painting is great, but I'm even more impressed with Steve's ability as a teacher. He explains what he's doing in practical terms.
ya
