These sketchy location vids are my favorite bc it can go so many directions. They are exciting. Plus when the food hits, a spot overlooked gets the love they deserve. It's a great premise. Travel and do these all over the country.
I go to Sandwich Express and yes they do bake the bread there. It has to be the right texture French infused Vietnamese bread. The texture has to be outter crispy crunchy and pillow soft on the inside. A special chew from mainly the inside of the bread but both texture in one bite is amazing. Also the bread has to be fresh daily that's why the in house baking of the breads. Or some Vietnamese Bami shops buy from Vietnamese bakers but always new daily to keep the freshness. Fresh bread is out then no more sandwhichies for the remainder of the day. Cheers!
@@MasWasThere I don'tq know any bakery that delivers bread in their baking cabinets, they're expensive and would be needed for other bakes, additionally can see the steam/bake bread oven right across from. The racks
Love the energy in this video and the sense of adventure you both bring to exploring new food spots! Can't wait for more episodes in different locations across the country!
I would love to see them come here to Australia! Try our weird odd dodgy/sketchy places! We eat our national animals Kangaroo's and Emu's, it is like you in America eating Bald Eagles! lol
@@NoEphingIdeafor real… you’d think for people who travel and do food reviews, they’d become more cultured over time. Also I hate that they call every spot “sketchy” just cause there’s a tiny bit of graffiti 😂
That dessert is glutinous rice balls in ginger syrup, known as "Chè trôi nước" in Vietnam. The rice balls are typically filled with mung beans, and coconut cream and flakes are optional toppings. In Chinese culture, it is called tang yuan. Their version can be either plain or filled with black sesame. This dessert is popular during the lunar new year celebrations.
I, personally, wouldn't mind more 'sketchy place' videos. There are some real gems hidden away at some of these spots, and to watch you and Jake discover a few of them 😋Mmmm. Thank you, Taylor Bros. & as always, safe travels. ✌️
bigger than that... one video like this could give a "sketchy" spot just what they need to stay in business. These small kind of places close every day because people dont go there.
Aye more LA videos!!! Love this channel so friken much and all the videos you guys do ❤ Can you do a video trying restaurants in Burbank/Glendale?? ❤ Keep em' coming yall are hilarious!
Never judge a book by its cover, that's my takeaway. I'm happy to see places that would usually be overlooked getting the positive coverage they've earned and deserve. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing wrong with calling it Chinese New Year. It’s the same thing as a male human being can be called both a man and a person. And not all Asians celebrate Lunar new year, not even all East Asians.
@@jz4057 Tell that to a Vietnamese person. Just like we don't call indigenous peoples, Native anymore....we don't call it Chinese NY anymore. Times have changed although coming from a non-asian, I think its forgivable
OMG Jake and that big rice ball had me laughing so hard! It was great to see you guys found so many really good hole in the wall places. Any time I'm away from home I look for local hole in the wall Restaurants I have found that most of the time they ae really good.
You should try doing a cheap/sketchy restaurant vs an expensive/high-end restaurant and order the same or similar things and compare them. That'd be super duper neato.
Love the sketchiest and one star ratings! It's better when you guys find a really bad one, because the facial expressions and comments are pretty funny.
id love to see "snacks" incorporated in some of these 24 hour videos. Like random ice cream places or something similar i think it would be cool here and there!!
I was just looking for some more one star, or worst restaurant review content, and then this new one popped up. I'm loving that you started doing some more one star review videos. But damn it, you're not putting them up fast enough! I need at least 4 a day😀! I'm thinking you should try and make your videos a little longer, there's nothing that says you can't do that. I love the back and forth you and your brother have, it makes your videos really enjoyable to watch..... Definitely make them longer though.😁
Angel Food donuts in Long Beach are by far the best donuts in LA - their warm glazed donuts are insane. I lived a few months out of the year in Long Beach for my business, and it always my first stop after landing in Long beach every time. Honestly they are the best donuts i have ever had in any state I’ve ever been in including my Buffalo NY hometown
Brennen, you need to come to Vancouver, BC. Foodie central! Any and all food you could ask for plus dishes you've never seen. You need to come here and experience Vancouver!!
4:04 Reminds me to that dessert from Indonesia that served specially during Ramadhan, it's called "Kolak Biji Salak". Idk if it's the same or not but for Kolak It's basically consist of tapioca, rice sugar, palm sugar, pandan leaf, and just like that lady say coconut milk. This is new to me knowing that Vietnam has this type of food

Yup! I've been really enjoying these
👍Someone liked your comment
And sometimes when "the food hits" he decides to say "i'd be surprised if it's even washed" dragging down the reputation of the place
"Do they bake their own bread?" While literally looking at the bread baking racks 😅
To be fair, that bread could be delivered on the racks like that every day or week

What is the sandwich called?
@@josetorres7061 Bánh mì. Translates to bread if taken literally. It's pretty much just a sandwich to a Vietnamese person. Personally, I love bánh mì
So it's like boba balls right
@rizkisoekartono454 boba is made with tapioca starch. Glutinous rice balls are made with glutinous rice flour/starch.

They leave the stems on the cilantro because that is where all the flavor is. Only greengos use just the flimsy leaves.
