That’s crazy!! I met one of the grad students at the University of Oklahoma at the AMS meeting this year that actually drove a car that took some footage for this movie!! It’s my dream to work for the NSSL in tornado research - and I’m hoping for a spot at the University of Oklahoma’s REU this summer!!

Just so everyone knows - almost all the tornados in this movie were actually filmed by a famous chaser for use in this movie. So except for some CG touch ups and to add damage etc. all the tornado scenes are the real deal basically.
Also, I always loved Bill Paxton as an actor and its a shame his career was never bigger after Twister and Titanic. Easily one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood and I still miss him to this day.
When I saw this in the theater back in the day, an usher in the theater made a statement in front of the screen before the start of the film, I’ll never forget: “..this movie is made with a new sound technology called THX…if you have any small children with you, this may a bit much and might want to consider if they can handle and even taking them out of the theater…” I looked at my friends, that’s when we knew the our friends birthday party we had at the theater was going to be an unforgettable movie experience. Seen it hundred times with more friends and family since. Say what you want…but it’s a classic, tho…some true 90’s pup culture shit. ..years later, I’ll DEF be in the theater for Twisters 🌪🌪
As someone who lived in Wright, Wyoming back in the mid 80s when I first saw two tornadoes forming just in town limits. The town of Wright had and still has a Rec-Center with a lower floor/basement to go to for safety. I remember driving to it with my parents and sister, hearing the air siren and watching them form just before they touched down is a memory I hope I never forget

In fact, he wanted to produce and/or direct a film with all the trimmings of a big-budget feature as it would be presented in premium formats (3D, IMAX, etc). Sadly he never got the chance. But this standalone sequel is pretty close to Paxton's dream. Re-integrating the storytelling of the original with the best effects, camerawork and stuntwork possible. It does look pretty good. I'm sure we'll get plenty of nods the 1996 original.
Being that I was born in the southeast, tornadoes scare the crap out of me and I've had many close encounters with them so this movie is definitely going to make me anxious
It certainly looks cool, but I don't feel hyped for it, maybe because I really wish Bill Paxton could have been involved somehow, even if he were just a guy to get sucked up by a tornado. Lmao, give us a Deep Blue Sea moment and a tornado just snatches his ass out through a window or something.

It's true. They combined CGI & real storm footage. Storm chasers helped make this movie this time around.
