Lol the music is badass as fuck and I keep mine on all the time but it's there to make the game harder cause most of the time itll either start super heavy out of nowhere or do those songs that slowly fade in or whatever which gives you a warning that you have to get ready for a fight. So it makes it harder especially on nightmare mode or ultra-nightmare or one life mode if the music is shut off so you won't know exactly when they're coming. I get it but I dont do it either lol

My guy, the soundtrack to this game and Doom 2016 are so metal that you feel confident in your ability to punch clear through iron walls using pillows and stomp concrete using shoes made of water. If you think your aim in CoD is good, wait until Hell on Earth (the first level) of Doom Eternal has you ripping demons in half and stomping their skulls into mist. Doom has you so in the flow that no other game trains your aim better.
Doomguy(/Doomslayer) is the single most badass character in fiction, and this music puts you in a state where you actually feel like the Slayer himself. The in-game music is synced to your in-game actions, so the sound engine knows to 'break' the song when you do very fast cinematic animations to finish off your enemies. It puts you in the "Doom Trance" or "Doom Dance" and no other game I've ever played makes you feel like you could rip phonebooks with a glare. If you only have time to play one of the games, play Doom Eternal. The story is there, but it really isn't necessary to enjoy the game.

A lot of times what sounds like electric guitar with distortion is actually a Chainsaw sample, because Mick Gordon is a musical madman. 4:06 is the clearest example in this track. So sick.
The music also adapts to the action in the game, so the in game sound track varies slightly in your playthroughs.

Can we all agree that Mick Gordon has absolutely mastered the art of suspense in music. He absolutely nails the buildups and drops in every single song he makes. And because of that suspense, it makes the release even more satisfying and enjoying because all of that eagerness is finally released in one moment, which then follows with the nastiest beat ever.

The thing about doom eternal is that the music changes and adapts to what you're doing. Glory kills, explosions, getting hit, it all culminates into a soundtrack that would be fantastic by itself, but gets turned up to 11 by the fact that people associate killing what feels like thousands of demons in an adrenaline fueled rage. To get the full effect of this soundtrack, you have to play the game on the hardest difficulty you can muster (I recommend ultra violence if you think you're good at fps games, but I play on nightmare) also I recommend "rip and tear" from doom 2016
