    My 2016 metris has a the same issue ( code for exhaust camshaft code rattles, turns over multiple times before start but when I clear the code it starts perfectly fine) thank you I think you just diagnose my issue 😊😊

    My timing chain is not making any noise. Can I just replace the intake camshaft? Or do I have to replace the exhaust as well? Please advise thanks

    • @luxurautomotive8913
      @luxurautomotive8913  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I suggest you check the cam timing first. Bring the crank shaft to time. Remove cam sensors and check timing. If it’s off, replacing cam magnets will not help. Sometimes timing chain may not make a rattling noise. But, replacing cam magnets with an updated parts since they are not too expensive is not a bad idea if you don’t want to check engine timing.

    Hi important question, the cam and lifters must get replaced as a set, no? Do you do it that way? I dont want to spend extra money on lifters if i dont need to change them.

    How do you time the cam adjusters if the cam has no pin to hold the adjuster in any position?

    • @eagoleye
      @eagoleye 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The adjuster don’t have timing and they don’t need to be locked. Once you install thd chain tensioner and lock the cams you can tighten the center bolt

    Can a camadjuster throw missfire codes after replacing the camshaft intake valve on the same engine m274

    • @eagoleye
      @eagoleye 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. Because if the cams off timing, the valves won’t close on time so you get single or random multiple misfire faults.

      No the valves will be ok unless the timing chain is broken completely or the tensioner got stock and chain has jump more than a few tooth.

    With the cams 'pinned' at TDC/O|T, can you rotate the crankshaft through the full rotations necessary to feed a new timing chain through without hitting the valves?

    • @luxurautomotive8913
      @luxurautomotive8913  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have to make sure all the valves are closed. remove the camshaft completely so that way all the valves are closed and you have more room to drew the chain in and you have no issue turning the engine. Once you lock your chain is when you install the camshaft and make sure you sparked marks line up, flat with the cylinder head surf.

      I understand. I've seen some people draw in the chain on he M270 and M271 engines and they left the camshafts in, that's why i was asking. Thanks for the info!@@luxurautomotive8913

      @Wakanda4eva6996 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome. Thanks for the info man!. Would you also know when tightening the camshaft adjusters to the camshafts, do you have to put the crank at 10 Degrees or so before TDC so you dont lose timing? I've seen a couple of videos on TH-cam where they put the crank at lets say 5-10 Degrees before TDC so when they tighten down the adjuster valves they don't lose timing? I don't know why they would need to do that if they have the timing tool locked in place. @@luxurautomotive8913

      I HAVE ALSO DONE THE SAME THING. TAG WELD JUST SO IT DOESN'T MOVE. ONE TIME, I INSTALLED A BRAND NEW CAM & THE PALTE TURNED AFTER THE FIRST START. I HAD TO REOPEN EVERYTHING TO READJUST THE PLATE MANUALLY AND TAG WELD IT. LIKE A DOT, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WELD THE COMPLETE PLATE.

    after all these years, from w203, w204 to w205, they still can’t make it right ?! Why ? I mean, I never change a Toyota or Honda camshaft even exceeding 300K miles , but damn , m271 m274 ,m276 m278, they all the same , around 100k miles , boom 💥 .

      If toyota and Honda wanted to design the same engine I promise you they would run in to a same exact issue. Toyota and Honda do not have the same engine design at all my friend. Remember it’s very hard and is not easy to design an engine. It takes years of R&D and updates. It’s easy to make a 4-6 cylinder noun turbo reliable engine. But not 4 and 6 cylinder turbo with hi horse power. 🙏
