Hello again Jess, Chris Colette and Shane 👋🐕🐕🐕 Eating my beans on toast as I enjoy your journey through beautiful Oakham. Thankfully the temperature has gone back to normal but wow it was hot recently 🌞. You have so many apples in your garden so hopefully you might be able to let us know how they taste once pressed 🍏. Wishing you all a great week my friends. Thanks again for sharing your lives. xx ❤🇺🇲🇬🇧
Hiya Friend, Oh, I hope you enjoyed your beans on Toast and the journey today with us. It was such a beautiful day in the sun. We definitely have a load of apples. Chris and I are planning on sharing our experiences making the cider. Thank you for always sharing your time and love with us. We hope you have a lovely week ahead! 🤍 Jess & family x
I am glad you enjoyed our beautiful country. Over tge years, I have travelled to numerous countries, and have resided in some also, but there is nothing like coming back to this beautiful country. We are blessed. Thank you for your videos over the time you have been here.
It is such a blessing to be able to travel and appreciate what you have to call home. We are so thankful we started this channel to share our experience. Also, we can look back on our time for years to come. We are very thankful for your support! 🤍 Jess x
I think we all do until we have someone else remind us, just what a treasure we get to enjoy. We absolutely loved our adventure. Thank you so very much for sharing your time with us today! 🤍 Jess x
The only other time I've seen any of Oakham was on an episode of Time Team who dug at the castle site. Looks like a delightful place that I'm off to find out more about. Thanks for taking us all along!
It is a very lovely town. So you managed to get the apple press. Excellent! I look forward to seeing some of the things you're able to make with it. I've never been to Rutland, it's a very small county, but it looks beautiful. Enjoy the sunmer weather while it lasts.
It was a lovely town! We are so thankful we found the Apple Press. We can't wait to share our experience making cider. We are definitely enjoying these beautiful days. Hope you are as well! 🤍 Jess x
I have never met you, and still every time you talk about going home I feel a pang in my heart and I think about how much I’ll miss you 😂😂😂 arent i ridiculous?! Lol x
No, because it makes my heart hurt anytime I think about it! I will miss you all so much. 😢 I just love and appreciate all the friends and the community we have on this channel. 🤍 Jess x
Oakham is a beautiful town, it's not a town i've been to so thank you for taking us along❤. seeing you both both with your dogs at the end makes me so happy🐕🦺
A lovely place to visit. There is a 'Time Team' episode that does an Archaeological investigation at Oakham which you will probably find on TH-cam. A search through Time Team's episodes could be a good way of discovering new places to visit with some historical background info too. Thanks for your video. 🙂 👍
Thank you both. I'm not sure from the video if you had time to visit the county museum but if not, when you're passing by again it might be of interest to you as it includes several historic farming implements/machines/wagons. Visited the town earlier this summer and it's such a cute little gem, as is the whole of Rutland.
Unfortunately, the museum was closed when we arrived. You're definitely planning a return trip to check out the Rutland Water and more of the area. We're so thankful for the time you shared with us! 🤍 Jess x
Thanks Chris and the beautiful jess.😊 great video, watching your video's has made me appreciate where I live so much more, having been born in England you tend to not notice the architecture and natural beauty around you until yo get much older, it always fascinating to watch Americans visit this country and going slightly nuts over the history here.😊
We absolutely love being able to just open people's eyes to the beauty that surrounds us. We love sharing and having you a long with us for all our fun adventures. Thank you for your time! 🤍 Jess x
I'm so glad you are adding that to your list of places to visit. Also, we are so glad that we had you along with us for our adventure! Thank you for sharing your time with us. 🤍 Jess x
Just such a lovely summery video; love it when we get a bit of decent weather. Long time since I've been to Oakham; it's just up the road from Melton Mobray which is renowned for it's pork pies. Rutland is such a cute little county. Have fun with your apple press; most can be used to press other fruit apart from apples so you could maybe try making some pear cider which is one of my favourites.
Thank you, we will check out Melton Mobray hopefully soon! We're very excited to try out the apple press. Most definitely, we will try other yummy fruits. Thank you for coming along with us today! 🤍 Jess x
Nice! I see you have got a lot of windfall apples at your house. Any idea what varieties you've got? I hope you show us your cider making, would be interesting to see how that goes. I've always fancied having a go at that myself but have never got around to it.
Ah. Home-made scrumpy! Now you are talking! Jess' intake of breath when she walked into the square was very sweet. I was not aware of Oakham so I learned something from your video - as usual. Your devoted followers appreciate your efforts.
Yes, we can not wait to make our fresh homemade cider! I absolutely love stopping and breathing to take in as much as possible. To appreciate the love I get to live. I'm so glad that we were able to share something new for you. Thank you for spending time with us today! 🤍 Jess x
I agree, Oakham looks to be a lovely town, particularly with the church in the background. Calling the 'castle' a castle though, proves that even back in the day there were scammers around. Well worth a visit though as the building is fascinating and full of history.
It was such a lovely time.We absolutely love getting out and exploring! Who is so incredibly grateful for the time we have here. That is quite funny about them calling it a castle. It was incredible to learn about the horseshoes and history. Thank you for coming along with us! 🤍 Jess x
That was very interesting, surprisingly quiet and very calming. The Time Team tv programme referred to in a comment was one of my all time favourites ; but it was really for enthusiasts of history who liked watching deep holes being dug to find precisely 'nothing,' and loving the experience while sipping a G&T. To be fair it was the narrative that was so spellbinding. Thanks for your vlog. Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire
Great video as always guys. Oakham is lovely but you definitely missed a trick not getting to Rutland Water …it’s a beautiful place and would have been absolutely perfect to visit in that weather
Well, we tried to get to Rutland Water, but the traffic down to it was crazy. People stopped in the middle of the road, got out, and processed to unload their cars. Which caused the traffic to be at a standstill. That was a big nope for us. So we passed, but we will return once the kids go back to school. 🤍 Jess x
Lovely to see you both in my town guys😂the castle can be a bit of a let down for visitors, people expect to see a traditional castle & are often dissapointed. Rutland is a nice county to live in though, and having Rutland water so close by is a huge bonus, hire some ebikes & cycle around it, lots of gorgeous wildlife to see😉
It was beautiful! We enjoyed our time walking around exploring the beauty and learning the history. Rutland Water looks fantastic, and we will have to return. Unfortunately, the entrance to Rutland was crazy people stopped their cars to unload everyone/ everything that caused a crazy traffic jam. Hopefully, once the kids return to school, we can go no problem. We look forward to checking it out. 🤍 Jess x
@DaydreamersBarn yes it does get busy during school holidays😂some folk do cause problems blocking the carpark entrance roads, I guess they're trying to avoid paying for parking, why not if you can😉
A lovely video, as usual. The trees lining the road are stunning. I applaud your sense of adventure. I would also use the press to make Perry, assuming that you have plenty of pears in your area. Love the happy doggies!
We appreciate you sharing your morning with us and enjoying the video. We always love exploring this beautiful country. We love our pups so very much! 🤍 Jess x
Many years since I've been in Rutland, it's nice to see the market town hasn't changed. Thanks for the day trip. Those windfall apples, depending on the type, might press really well. If you dont have any muslin bags/cloths, a couple of old clean pillowcases will strain out mist of the pulp. The farm animals might enjoy the compressed pulp cake.😂😂😂
Thank you for coming along with us. We are so incredibly grateful to be able to share our time and our love with you all. We're very excited for our apple cider with the apples in the back garden. Hopefully, it turns out OK. 🤍 Jess x
Well you sure picked a nice day for your trip! You could see plenty of the lovely deep golden Rutland sandstone, very similar to the Cotswold stone, in the buildings? Indeed, there are villages around Oakham that look just like the Cotswolds, IMO. Some real pretty ones. When I was a lad, one of the three main V-bomber bases for our nuclear deterrent was RAF Cottesmore, just outside Oakham. We used to see the Vulcans low overhead regularly, and occasionally, when I was young, with the Blue Steel nuclear weapon (you HOPED just a dummy round) underneath. The planes were always a fine sight for a young lad! Did you see any of Rutland Water while you were there? Both arms start just outside the town, and now the lake has matured it is attractive to walk round. The scenic highlight is perhaps the fairytale-like Normanton Church, preserved floating above the the lake under which its lower parts are now submerged. I remember the local campaign to save it from flooding and demolition! Good that you were able to show how nice the weather CAN be here - after the very poor spring and early summer we've had! Another really pleasant video - thanks!
The day was an amazing and beautiful. It was hot, but it was a sight to see for sure. It was very similar to the Cotswolds, we can see why you would think that. Sounds like the RAF base was booming back in it's day. It must have been something to see. We saw the lake from the road as we went by. It seemed like it was quite the place. It is crazy to think that it is one of the largest manmade lake in western Europe and you were able to see it when it was being created. That is something that not many can say. We were glad that the weather was nice as well. It is something that we will enjoy while we can when we can. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Chris
I live in Leicester, not far from Oakham. I have a few customers over that way, beautiful part of England. Back in the early 80s I did my RAF training at Swinderby in Lincolnshire, we did our NBC ( nuclear, biological and chemical warfare ) training at RAF North Luffenham, casevac exercises around Rutland water in NBC kit carrying a stretcher in the heat in 1985 !! Will never forget it !! I believe RAF North Luffenham is now an army base, St.George's Barracks. Great to see you guys enjoying our beautiful country and heritage. Cheers, Daz, Leicester.
Wow, thank you for sharing with us. I agree that it truly is a beautiful part of this amazing country! We truly appreciate you sharing your time with us. 🤍 Jess x
I remember winning a bet with another lad at school, around 1970 or so, when RAF North Luffenham was still an active RAF base. Cycling past the main entrance (I was brought up in Melton) , I was impressed by the gate guardian (can't remember now what what plane it was). The other lad, who was big in the RAF cadets, insisted that there was no gate guardian at the main entrance, so it must have been somewhere else. His face was a picture, when I showed him the nice reply to my letter, from the station, confirming I was correct! Like nearby Cottesmore, sadly one of many many since-closed RAF airfields.
@@adriangoodrich4306 I was based at RAF Cottesmore on 360 sqdn Canberras for a couple of years 68/70. It's now an army base. Got to know Oakham quite well. Prior to that I was at RAF Watton. I was an aircraft mechanic in the Navy but 360 was combined RAF/Navy. For anyone from the US the aircraft became the Martin B57 when the US started making them.
@@tivvy-xf4kz I have a clear memory of our family cycling past the base one glorious hot summer day, not long after I had started my very big interest in Aircraft, and of pointing out "the Canberra with the funny nose...!" I've just looked up 360 sqdn and I see it was an ECM squadron - so that fits? If my memory serves me right, we stopped for a picnic on a sharp corner where you could see the runway quite close. Must have been around the time you served there? Thank you for your service, sir.
I love look and texture of old doors and doorways. It says a lot about a home I always feel. The warmth and sturdiness of real wood, with metal embellishments, be they knockers, studs, or handles, can be a real delight. Oakham is a nice place, not far from me, but then most places aren't far in the Midlands. 🙂Well, a home brewed cider, has to be on the cards. Pressed into large suitable plastic drums and allowed to ferment based on the natural yeasts on the windfalls will generate some potent cider. Sometimes it is naturally sparkling too. Never made it myself, but an elderly man in the village has and wow, it was stronger than wine/champagne. I recall you asking about and for whisky recommendations a few videos back. The Masters of Malt web site is so cool and informative, and delivers very quickly, too. Thanks for sharing such a warm and nice trip out. Stay safe and well, and hopefully the sun continues to shine on you all. x
I agree the door leading into the beautiful homes says so much about them. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and the door is the entrance to happiness, I say. We're very excited about trying our hand at making a homemade cider. It truly has been a nice summer, and we are so thankful you enjoyed your time with us. 🤍 Jess x
Nice press and cruncher. Fairly simple to use. Beware of the wasps, they can smell the crushed apples from a mile away. Oakham is lovely, not been there for years. Enjoy.
I used to work at Stamford and Rutland General Hospital in the operating theatre ( O.R ) , it only had 1 , a small Hospital . .I think Stamford had a population of 18,000 when i worked there . I lived in a village called Langtoft with my then American wife , I'm from London originally . I lived near City road and the Eagle pub mentioned in the nursery rhyme " Pop goes the weasel " .About 200 yards further along City rd is Wesley's chapel where John Wesley ( Who founded the Methodists ) preached , his house is next door and is a museum .
There is a very good beer brewery - Grainstore brewer near to the railway station. Oakham was the county town of Rutland, the smallest county in England.
Going back a few years, when the big brewing behemoths did their level best to wipe out real ale, one of the very few beacons of hope that kept the flame alive was the Ruddles brewery at Langham, a mile or so outside of Oakham. A pint of Ruddles County was hard to come by outside of the local area, but was magnificent. Sir Kenneth Ruddle was an early champion of the Real Ale movement. But it all went pear-shaped later, sadly, especially after the sell-out to Grand Met.
Hello gang. Love from Nottingham, Notting-um, or Nottnum to the locals. Oakham, (Oh-kum). I have been there a couple of times. Rutland is the smallest county in the UK. It used to be part of Leicestershire (Lester sheer/ Shur) to the west. Sainsburys supermarket is pronounced Sains (as in Brains) Brizz. Some UK place names are unlike their spellings. Happisburgh, Norfolk is Hazebruh. Leominster is Lemster. Loughborough, Leics is Luff brur. Small world, as I have been to Oakham a couple of times. The church, School, Castle, and I have walked on that high path above the castle building with the horseshoes inside. Rutland water nearby is nice. I do not know the route, from east to west you came in from the east, but recommend nearby Stamford, Lincolnshire, which is a beautiful town. Airfix plastic kits, in the UK, like Tamiya, Revell etc did a signal box kit based on Oakham train station signal box. There is a small Ford car dealer in Oakham, near the signal box / Tim Norton. I have been to Norfolk, UK in the past. I have been to Cromer / Great Yarmouth / Norwich / Sheringham, Wells Next the sea, etc.
Love all of the insight and your time sharing with us! Will definitely look up Stamford and Lincolnshire, I'm sure they are on our list of places to visit. We absolutely loved walking around and learning so much about the town and the horseshoes. 🤍 Jess x
Hiya. You showed us the press and we can see the apples, so - you make cider, obviously! The famous Scrumpy, traditionally and historically made from ripe windfall apples with no additions of any kind, just the apples. Stay safe. All the best to you.
Yes , we are very excited about making our cider. Well, probably ask Chris if we can video the process and share it on our Facebook page. Will be so much fun! We absolutely love traveling around and picking up things that will always remind us of our time in the UK. We absolutely love it here! Thank you for spending time with us! 🤍 Jess x
I've only been to Oakham once and my abiding memory is of the Stocks.I didn't even realise there was a castle there. I would hazard a guess that the absence of any remaining stonework is due to Oliver Cromwell who slighted (i e, blew to bits) hundreds of castles during the civil war. I love your trips and wish you well with the apple press.
Thank you so very much! Absolutely love, sharing our adventures and exploring everything that we possibly can. We're so happy you enjoy coming along with us. 🤍 Jess x
👍 beautiful views! BTW - if your (new to you) apple press is rather old, then you need to be very careful as some of them are lethal (I know, I spent a lot of my childhood on a farm with an apple press from the 1900's that would be completely illegal nowadays due to Health & Safety laws)
Rutland Water is a reservoir as well as a lake, it provides water to the towns and cities of the East Midlands. It is the largest reservoir by surface area in England. 2 villages - Nether Hambleton and Middle Hambleton were flooded and the inhabitants forced to relocate to create the reservoir. It has been redeveloped as a leisure site. I am going there on Wednesday on my way to Nottingham.
No matter where one travels in England if the Manor House is a ruin it's almost guaranteed that the Tithe Barn survives, tied to the Estate farmers paid the tithes (rent) in produce, the barn where it was stored. Being a useful building they survived long after the Manor, many now converted to houses.
Will watch this later when I have the time it deserves. But I know Oakham very well - I was brought up ten miles away, and used to cycle out that way regularly as a kid. Did you see Rutland Water? (I'll see in the video when I watch it...!) - I remember that being built, and remember cycling on lanes that are now under the lake!
We are glad that you are looking forward to this video. We were excited not knowing what Oakham was about. It was one that did not disappoint. We drove by Rutland Water, but we did not stop. It seemed like quite the place to visit though. Cheers, Chris
Barnsdale Gardens back in the eighties and nineties featured every week during the spring, summer and autumn on BBC TV. It was the location of 'Gardeners World' a weekly garden magazine. It has numerous different types of garden and was the home of the presenter of Gardeners World, Geoff Hamilton. He was responsible for making many of the gardens displayed. Sadly, Geoff died suddenly before his time and the BBC had to find another presenter of Gardeners World and thus the location for the programme changed from Barnsdale.
Oh, wow, thank you for sharing that about the show. Sad when we lose people before their time. I really appreciate your time spent with us this morning! 🤍 Jess x
When the lake was built, I was working (my first job) for a local accounting firm. One of our clients (and whose accounts I did) was the major local aristocrat and landowner/farmer. His original hall went under the lake, and he had to move to another hall nearby, along with all his farming operations. I learned quite a bit about what was happening in that locality as a result! And I can recall cycling through that now-flooded village - Nether Hambleton - in the early 1970s, before the dam. It was a fair hill down from Upper Hambleton, which survives on what is now the Hambleton peninsula.
I spent some time living there and it has hardly changed. Rutland is the only place where having a horse shoe upside down is good luck (making an 'n' shape instead of 'u').
I was once told that horseshoes should be hung upside down over doorways so that the good luck falls out onto you as you pass beneath! I was told this after finding a horseshoe in a field on a school trip to Kent.
Google tells me that Michigan is the 3rd largest producerr of apples in the US. So I would suggest that you use your apple press for pressing apples grown on your smallholding! Do not forget for the benefit of some fellow Americans who may be particular about such things to remove the dead rat from the bottom of the scrumpy vat though. If you do slip they won't notice anyway after their second pint of scrumpy! A bit more seriously, there are particular varieties of apple which work best for scrumpy, so you may like to investigate and perhaps take or order some for your farm.
Yes, Michigan does have a great amount of apples grown there. We are definitely looking into which ones make the best cider. We appreciate your kindness and support! 🤍 Jess x
Rutland is Englands smallest county. Eric Idle, of Monty Python team fame, made a series for British television called Rutland weekend television 📺 which was satirical sketches. He also made a supposed The Beatles rival pop group called "the Ruttles".
So lovely. Thank you so very much for sharing with us. I truly appreciate your time, and I will look up that television. We truly appreciate your time sharing. 🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarn That's OK 👍 Be warned though it's not about Rutland per sae so don't expect a tour around Rutland. I think he just liked the sound of it as a title. But I maybe wrong you may recognise some backgrounds if he did film there.🤷♂️
If we are able to, we definitely will. I'm just not sure about customs and all of that. I'm looking into it to make sure it's even possible. We may have to order them once we get to our small holding. 🤍 Jess x
Excellent. Don't forget to get together a sealed 'Time Capsule' about y'all & your time in England before you leave (photo's etc) - bury it deep in a secret location using your phone coordinates. In many years to come maybe your Great GGG Grandchildren will visit & be able to dig it up - leave a message in it for them maybe.
That's such a great idea! Will have to find a place it would not be accidentally found. It would be hilarious to have some random people find our time capsule like, "Who are these random people." That would be funny! Thank you so much for your recommendation! 🤍 Jess x
Hope you have plenty of land in the Us looks like you need to build acastle and church to remind you of the Uk. now that is a project l would watch. haha
Right, maybe my chickens will have an English style coop. We will definitely be taking a lot of our design inspiration from our time here. We absolutely love it! 🤍 Jess x
Definitely make some cider and apple pies...you have 100's of apples on your property ...you could make cider with those apples to last you till 2025...😂❤
Right, it's crazy the amount of apples we have. We spent time yesterday picking about 5 gallons yesterday to start a cider. Thank you for sharing your time with us this morning! 🤍 Jess x
Is that a copy of an Antique Apple press, Or an actual press you can buy. Also are you going to use it or is it just for interest. Forgive my ignorance, I have never seen them or even thought about them before.
That is the picture of the actual apple press we purchased from a lovely family in Oakham. We are going to use it to make cider while here. Will ask Chris if he can create a video of him using it to make cider. Thank you for your question. 🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarn you been here to long. Now your making your own. Any excuse to get pissed. Ha. Joking aside, That would be quite interesting. Although I am one of few none drinkers
Cute ! 😢 really , spectacular is the word you should use , cute is for a little kitten 🐈⬛ or puppy 🐕 not a thousand year old village 😂😂😂, I still think you are both great and sad you will be leaving us soon .
Well, it was very cute and spectacular Market Town. We love exploring and finding a beautiful place to explore and learn about. We also love taking you all along with us for the adventure. Thank you for sharing your time with us today! 🤍 Jess x
I think i should to write a letter to the government that when your family leaves us brits next year to request 3 days of national mourning and all flags to be flown at half mast.😉
Love Oakham, both my sisters went to Oakham School, My dad did his shopping there every week. It seems so quiet since they opened the bypass, I was wondering where you got the press from the Braunston road direction, lovely countryside in that area. as a kid I remember the land before the reservoir, and they had viewing car parks so you could see the construction, how sad is that!! Dad lived in a village near the water and worked on the Rutland Bell, sis is in an other village there and my niece lives in Oakham. Too many stories of my times there, a lot not suitable for general publication. thanks for bringing back good Memories!!
Wow, thank you so very much for sharing those memories from your childhood. I bet that was such a sight to see. We truly appreciate the time you spent with us today! 🤍 Jess x

I absolutely love stopping and breathing to take in as much as possible. To appreciate the love I get to live. I'm so glad that we were able to share something new for you. Thank you for spending time with us today! 🤍 Jess x
What a beautiful church, love your journeys around our country.
It truly was such a wonderful day trip! We are so thankful for your time watching. 🤍 Jess x
Love love love your videos Jess & Chris. Keep on exploring won’t you?
Oh, thank you! Yes, we will continue. We're loving our time sharing our adventures.
🤍 Jess x
I love Rosé cider it's my favourite tipple 🍹😋
Oh, yes, my friend!
Lovely, thank you for sharing with us. I will look into The Time Team to see if I can find it on YT. Thank you for sharing! 🤍 Jess x
🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarnyes, unfortunately it’s a very popular place on a warm sunny day. As you say, there’s always another day to visit 😊
🤍 Jess x
I worked in oakham for 30 years . Live in nearby Stamford,it needs a visit.Historicly it will blow you away.
We are looking at making a visit. Cheers, Chris
Oakham has things you'd love, Jess... it has more antique shops than you can shake a stick at!
Yes, unfortunately, most were closed on Sunday. We will definitely be back! 🤍 Jess x
Enjoy.
Thank you so very much for the tip! I am deathly allergic to any type of sting. We're very excited about making cider here. 🤍 Jess x
For a short video topic, what British TV do you like?
Great request! 🤍 Jess x
You guys came into town and didn’t stop to say hello 😢.
Just kidding, love you guys ❤
Oh, sorry, dear friend! It's such a beautiful town. Thanks for spending your morning with us exploring. 🤍 Jess x
Wow, thank you for sharing the history and your store with us. I truly appreciate your time sharing with us. 🤍 Jess x
I have been to Oakham a number of times as part of the Viking Way race. 140 from Humberside to Oakham.
Oh, I will look into that. Thank you, friend!
Edit:
I just looked it up in December a 40-hour races! That's crazy... 🤍 Jess x
There is a very good beer brewery - Grainstore brewer near to the railway station. Oakham was the county town of Rutland, the smallest county in England.
Oh, fantastic! Thanks for the insight. 🤍 Jess x
🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarn - Shame I'm not on FB.
Thank you, friend!
We appreciate you sharing the advice and heads up! We are very excited but will use caution. Thank you so much! 🤍 Jess x
Wow, how sad they had to relocate and leave their homes/ villages they called home. Thank you for sharing. 🤍 Jess x
No matter where one travels in England if the Manor House is a ruin it's almost guaranteed that the Tithe Barn survives, tied to the Estate farmers paid the tithes (rent) in produce, the barn where it was stored. Being a useful building they survived long after the Manor, many now converted to houses.
Thank you so much for sharing that with us. We truly appreciate your time! 🤍 Jess x
The apples, maybe make some apple crumble?
Oh, yes, friend! 🤍 Jess x
rutland water reservoir and belvoir csstle is wonderful and so is melton mowbray
We loved our visit to Beloir Castle! We shared a video awhile back with our time walking around. 🤍 Jess x
🤍 Jess x
Lovely church, very different.
It was stunning! We loved our time walking around and admiring it. Thank you for sharing your time with us this morning. 🤍 Jess x
There is a village under Rutland water
When researching about Oakham and Rutland National Water, I didn't learn that. Thank you for sharing.
It was a fair hill down from Upper Hambleton, which survives on what is now the Hambleton peninsula.
nice cider kit, crusher and press, get working on all those apples
It's all about the apples!
We're starting to get the cider started. We're very excited. 🤍 Jess x
It was such a wonderful day exploring and sharing it with you all. Thank you for sharing your time with us. 🤍 Jess x
🤍 Jess x
Come and visit Buxton,Bakewell,Castleton,Matlock,Matlock bath chatsworth house and the beauty of the peak district....before you go back home...
Most definitely! Most of those have already been on our list of places to check out before we return to the US. Thank you, sweet friend! 🤍 Jess x

will you take any UK apple varieties to the US, cooking and cider apples varieties come to mind?
🤍 Jess x
You weren't telling pork pies when you said you had apples out back.
Right, we have a lot! 🤍 Jess x

@DaydreamersBarn ...Good luck and have fun making memories 🥰 xx
Is that a copy of an Antique Apple press, Or an actual press you can buy. Also are you going to use it or is it just for interest. Forgive my ignorance, I have never seen them or even thought about them before.
