The old shows will forever outshine any programs made today. There was never concern over what children were viewing as programs were family oriented.
I like that commercials were included. I'd love to have that kitchen in the HotPoint ad!!
Most other programs edit out commercials. They were times when companies valued their reputation and customers, the result, quality products. When something broke there was a repairman to fix a tv and appliances. You didn't throw something away until it was unable to be repaired, the same went for clothing. Shoes were resoled, buttons were sewn back on, socks were darned and patches covered holes in work pants.
They are days I am blessed to have lived in. Wouldn't it be wonderful if life was simple again and people talked to each other, families spent time together. 🌹

Today's audience would probably not appreciate watching a nice, loving family,The sitcoms of today pander to lower values, they use profanity, sarcasm, and show children that treat their parents with disrespect and disdsin. At one time,American families were in loving and respectful to their family members, and to everyone else. What has happened? Humor now is degrading, and these children make awful remarks to their parents and disrespect the grandparents.

@@kosmokritikos9299 I do read and study God's Holy Word the 1611 King James Authorized Version of the Holy Bible which is inerrant and infallible. You obviously didn't read the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Amendment I says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or a abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." It's quite obvious that you're not a born again Christian because if you were, then you wouldn't be so offended by my comment. You need to get saved before it's too late. You need to realize that you were born a sinner. A sinner is someone who disobeys God. You need to repent of your sins which means that you need to sincerely be sorry for the sins that you committed. You need to ask God to forgive you for your sins. You need to believe in the Trinity which is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit: these 3 in 1. You need to believe that Jesus Christ is the begotten Son of God the Father. "Begotten" means that Mary was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus Christ. You need to believe that Jesus Christ never sinned in thought and deed. You need to believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and He rose from the dead in 3 days. Then, you need to ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. If you don't get saved before you die, then you'll spend Eternity in Hell.

And who the hell are you to be judging me or anyone? Judge not, lest you be judged. And judged you will be. You are on an express car to hell by my religion, so you'd better repent or else, you dingbat. To build a well structured family based on strong values and fraternal love, where parents educate their children in responsability and manners. Today instead we have the opposite message; lack of control, let do no matter what, loss of identity…

Through all these fifty years of enjoying this sitcom of a show, I never really paid attention to how big the house on the outside was.
They were considered very wealthy even in today's standards . The house could be viewed as a mansion even today.
So this real family was very much of the upper class. Even more so as the lived and loved , on screen, as a family . My growing up was the direct opposite in every which way than this family and their growing up. I had one of the most dysfunctional families that ever was.
No love, major alcoholism with parents, much resentment amongst all family members , and one by one each one of my family died from various situations. To this day , I've never been a consumer of any kind of alcohol, I've never been married , never had the chance to express any love I have inside my soul, no children. Im just very old and very unhappy.
In today's society , parents always say I love you to their kids, the kids are well adjusted and I missed out on everything. Too late to even think of a happy ending.

I’m sorry how you feel about your family life but more sorry you are not getting some counseling and understanding life is not fair but God, our creator, loves you and He has a plan for your life no matter how old you are. I suggest you start reading your Bible and seek Him and He will direct your path. Without God there is no true happiness.

Jesus will give you happiness and peace. I know. My parents never told us they loved us, spent little time with us, and were atheists. I became a Christian in '86 and He has sustained me through the bad and the good. Eight months ago I was hospitalized for nearly a month as I couldn't walk or use my right hand and had a lot of other problems, many of which have lingered. I have an incurable autoimmune disease, NMODS, and will have to get infusions every two weeks for the rest of my life but He got me through that horror and continues getting me through this.
My sister said I looked like I was dying when I was in hospital and I felt like it almost. I had rehab to learn how to walk again but I still can't use my right hand much. But by God's grace I survived and no longer need a walker - I've survived! And no matter what happens in the future I know I'll be fine because He is always with me.
You've nothing to lose if you look into discovering Jesus. Try Dr. J. Vernon McGee's Bible study called Thru the Bible online and/or Lee Strobel's book The Case for Christ. The latter was an atheist lawyer trying to prove Jesus wasn't real and discovered facts that proved him wrong. No matter how bad life is, how lonely or unhappy we are Jesus will always fill us with peace and joy and love. I don't lament that I'm single because I have Him. May God bless you!

Doing a little math about that dishwasher commercial at 10¢ a day for ten years is $365.00 which is about $3,950 in today's money!
In the second commercial about the Hotpoint stove the lady said you can turn this oven on and go somewhere for awhile leaving it on ! My parents used to do that on the stove top ! I never would do that. I don't leave the washing machine, dyer, stove or oven on and go somewhere.

Survives in name only. Whirlpool owns most of the names on the market. It is all the same cheap product with different badging. The days when your mom bought a fridge when you were a little kid and she still had it when you got home from college are over. They have cheap Chinese controller boards that break down and ruin your food in only a few short years.
As far as portraying a housewife...women weren’t shamed for laziness or being a slave to a man like they are now. It was a natural thing, and most women found it fulfilling to raise their own kids. No slight intended.

I WAS A LITTLE OLDER THAN THESE TWO GUYS WHEN THIS AIRED. I WAS GETTING A+'S ON MY REPORT CARD. I SKIPPED TWO GRADES BY 1958. I WENT OFF TO WAR IN 1960, MY MOM SIGNED THE DEFERMENT PAPERS. THAT WAS FUNNY WHEN DAVID WAS SHAVING, TRY THAT WITH A BLADE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. HOTPOINT COMMERCIAL: YEAH, YOU GO RIGHT AHEAD, PRESET YOUR OVEN TO COOK WHILE YOUR OUT AND COME BACK TO A BURNT DOWN HOME. BEFORE I LEFT MIAMI FOR HAWAII, I WAS STAYING ON THE 16 TH. FLOOR OF A LUXURY APARTMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWN TOWN MIAMI. SOME IDIOT TRIED WHAT HOTPOINT SAID: HE PUT A GIANT POT OF FOOD FULL BLAST ON THE RANGE, THEN LEFT FOR FOUR HOURS, AND ALMOST BURNT DOWN THE WHOLE APARTMENT. OUR H.O.A. KICKED HIM OUT.
