What I love most about this video is that we have a brother in Malaysia who is rocking out and enjoying the hobby we Americans have come to love so much. I wish you many happy hours with that guitar my brother, glad to see you on TH-cam enjoying yourself.
From what I’ve read, the difference is the AT has 2 clipping diodes and the V1.5 (orange one) has 4. The AT is the same as a standard production BB pre-2007. I’m going to guess that Xotic will make a “BB Classic” with the original spec at the 20th anniversary. The 1.5 sounds more open here and would probably have an advantage when boosting into a crunchy amp. The the AT would have an advantage as a stand alone gain channel into a clean amp
Sounds like the difference is only on higher gain. I have the AT version (it was for better price) and I was surprised with it. Literaly there is no bad sound in the pedal. Wherever you set the controlls it produces great sounds, its just matter of taste what you aim for. Where this pedal really shines is stacking boost in front of it. It have stupid headroom and can get away with extreme boosts/fuzzes in front of it.
Hello I need a recommendation to buy an overdrive, I am undecided between this pedal (ecstasy blue) or the bb Preamp xotic, I am looking for something transparent that sounds defined, that sounds good in the clean channel and that also heats the tubes of my tube amp when want to use the overdrive channel. Apart from being versatile, what pedal would you advise me?
hello dude, I heard the exact opposite of what you heard and through studio monitors I thought the BB AT had more lows and didn't sound as tight and I thought the original had less compression and sounded tighter....just goes to show you that you tube is very imprecise when you're looking for a reference to the sound of a pedal.
I don't know your name, yes you the guy that does the demos with the beard but I love MBM demos and you play very well. I bought that guitar you are holding an identical one but I could not get along with the shape of the neck so I sold it and bought a Charvel Pro Mod 24 and it is the best guitar I've played...it would be perfect if it had DiMarzio pick ups instead of Seymour Duncan but S. Duncan is also pretty good.
Not hearing the difference makes sense to me as they are using an older version of the pedal, which his "signature" pedal was designed to be. The modern BBs don't sound like the older ones did. It is not true that his pedal was designed with his guitar and amps in mind, he just wanted a dependable version of the original sounding version. Cheers.
The origional is not as harsh and so i would say it is suited to wider range of amps/guitars but cant go wrong with either.( get the cheaper one, if its on offer)
Just bought the at limited edition version for £99 with free international shipping, cheaper than the regular edition, from Andertons online. Additionally, I heard Andy Timmons say in an interview that the component specifications changed over the years a d current model BB preamps no longer sounded like his old one. So when his original pedal was no longer dependable, he brought it into Xotic and they took it apart and designed his signature pedal on the original version. Cheers.
@@kosmicwizard soooo, the BB AT is kinda the original version reissue?, I had the BB PreAmp for about 2 years, and then i changed that for other pedals, then i got the AT and liked a lot more than the original i had. This is my 2 year with the AT and compared to my last BB, this time the pedal is always on and never leave my pedalboard
The only time I would buy an artist model is if it could stand out and really do something EXTREMELY unique to the tone. I betcha that original BB can copy that AT close enough with the right amp settings. Dont think the AT will be worth the additional cash with such subtle nuances.
I could be wrong but I heard Andy Timmons saying that his version has a cheaper component which to him sounds better. The price is almost the same though. You aren't pay more money for his name on it.

Thanks again for the comparison, you make the best comparison videos on youtube IMHO. Very good job again!!!

I have the Bb preamp AT version and its one of my fav pedal on my board. Cool demo ! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
for boost my high gain sound (metal sound) which one would you prefer? AT or original?
Great video, this comparison is just what I was looking for.
Thank you for all your very good quality demo

I think I hear more noise from the AT model
I don’t hear the difference
Plus his model is Tailored to his guitar and amps . The regular BB is neutral to whatever you play

hey dude what’s the different of both? which one best sound?

A hear the same bot great
The AT model definitely got more "balls". 👍🏻
It's just Me again. If you own both you would be surprised.
Zotic? It's pronounced X otic.
I prefer much more the normal BB preamp.
