Guys is all about you not the DAW
I hear you but a good DAW makes a huge difference too
Very cliche 😂 Sure it’s all about YOU. But what DAW makes YOU work more effeciantly ? How can u work faster and get amazing results . After many years and hours under your belt you will find that nothing matters more than workflow. Keep that in the back of your head.
yes@@MTTC
Yeah but a limited daw can stunt your creativity
That's why I switched from bandlab to abelton I can literally never go back
@@simplicityd8703 some limitations can be interesting, because they force you to do something incredible, even with few resources, it forces your creativity. But you made a good choice, ableton gives you creativity, you have one of the best Workflows I've ever seen
It all depends on the workflow of each DAW, sometimes switching DAWs gives you more creativity by trying something new
me: cubase and Ableton, love it
Absolutely correct Savert. We can only truly discover new methods by trying out new things 👍🏾
just it:)@@MTTC
Even more than just overthinking it, just pick one and work with it. Once you create a flow that works for you, you'll be confident in your experience. Started with FL, now using Cubase. I don't regret learning FL as I still use if for Idea sketching at times and the UI is very intuitive. However as I learn Cubase (still learning), I am more comfortable with my abilities. Don't spend too much time watching TH-cam Vids on what is the Best Daw, Get Started and Create the Best Music.
Makes sense
Am I the only one who uses multiple DAWs? I started in FL Studio, then I really honed my skills in Mixcraft, then I bought Cubase and now I can pretty much pick up any DAW quickly. I've been jumping around from FL Studio to Cubase to even Reaper, Studio One, and Reason. I just now tried Logic Pro X on a used Macbook I bought earlier this year. I've been a Windows user all my life. The music I make is a combo of Jpop and Industrial with chiptune elements. I just love DAWs lol 😂😅
You are not alone my friend. I myself use different DAWs for different jobs. For me a DAW is a magical tool that allows me to explore and transfer my creative ideas into something that can be shared with others 😀
I always switch back and forth between FL and Ableton every 4 to 8 months when I go through a "phase". When I want to mess with Loops and try crazy stuff..Ableton. When I want to bang out something real fast like RnB or Hip-Hop...FL. I used to Studio One until my MacBook died an early death and gave FL a try.
All of the mentioned above are good. I started with Magix. I loved it but it was crashing badly. Than I got FL studio and it was very stable but didn't feel right for recording audio. Than I got on Mixcraft. I was considered Cubase but than I returned to FL Studio. I think I am going to stay with it. I am not willing to explore anymore. By the way Mixcraft is not bad but I don't idend to update it anymore. FL Studio has improved enough and I feel I am going to stick with it.
Cubase user for 7 years here! For me problem is that i am just sooo much fas5er for cubase. tried other daws when mixing for my friends (at their pc). Reaper is great but oldish interface and less plugins. Ableton for cztting and object centred working is a disaster and samplitude is absolutely great for object editing and has super great plugins. Samplitude is probably the one I would switch to.
I use FL studio and luckily I'm producing electronic music, it's a great explanation.
Awesome. The key thing is you are using the technology to create music 😀. Thanks a lot for the great feedback 😀
i hate fl for techno, ableton and cubase are way better
the best one is the first one you fell in love with. you learned it inside and out and think there's no other that compares. Any other one anyone says is the best you will be biased against since you will be comparing it to the one you love. Once you fall for one you don't want to know what the competition offers. Even if it may be better over all or easier to use. It's called fandom.
Excellent comment 💯 So true 😀
I agree. I'm ableton til I die. I might try bitwig and Cubase though. I probably won't like then. I hate fl and logic pro. Logic is so cluttered and fl is just goofy.
That was the absolute best explanation of D A W choice I have ever heard. Simple cut the chase right to the point no bulshit sales pitches just pure logical information. Props to you my friend
Thanks a lot Rico. I really appreciate your feedback. Respect 🙏🏾
Duce.
Great point! Find one that makes sense to you and learn it. Also learn your shortcut keys and there ya go.
Yes I agree. Plus knowing the shortcuts or key commands of your chosen DAW will supercharge your workflow 🔥
Former hardcore PT/Logic/S1 user... Now back on Cubase 13 - and finally: very happy!! Cubase has the BEST flexible mix console, inspiring modern sample content, 5 GB !! orchestral sounds... And the pro effects and vstis are on par with Logic... I can't live without the fast SamplerTrack and control room e.g. Higly recommend, I must say. Great times! ❤
I’m going to have to check it out based on what you have said. I started out with Cubase on the Atari ST before it incorporated audio recording then moved to Logic Audio around 1996. Never looked back. But I’m curious to see what is happening in Cubase land. Cheers for the tips 😀
My fist daw is fl studio now . I'm in cubase
I’m hearing that more and more 👍🏾
Why bro 🍆😫
I started with LMMS (as it is free), then I downloaded FL Studio and now I've been using Logic for a year. The switch was honestly difficult as I am pretty much a beginner, but it gave me much more creativity and helped me understand some things in a better way
Nice 👍🏾
Yes it’s that you tried out different platforms until you settled on the one that is right for you 😀
Logic is amazing but the selection kinda feel more limited nowadays we have samples where it’s involves singing on a beat so which one does it
I suppose the question is therefore which DAW was used to make the beat in the first place? Then of course which DAW will be used to record the vocals once the beat is imported? 🤔💭
REAPER is good in everything
I agree that Reaper does cover all bases for real 👍🏾
Reaper users better be programmers than musicians
@@ioriyagami9231Honestly I want to say I don't agree with you but I can't because I myself is a programmer
Agreed! Low price as well and even free if you really want it free..
@@ioriyagami9231 chatgpt enabling alot here for musicians that dont know how to program (yet)
Logic Pro for Melody and vocal, FL for drums
I’m still struggling with FL workflow. Too many years in the Logic sphere it seems 🤔
@@MTTC When I first started using FL, I stuck to Song mode. I still don't use Pattern mode. Some create a skeleton of a beat on one Pattern and then split each instrument to a different Pattern and go from there. I use each Pattern like you do in Logic or Ableton's Arrangement view. Check out BusyWorksBeats tutorials on FL. Once you get used to the Piano Roll.. You will be off and running in FL. I rarely use the Channel rack unless it's for hi hats or snares. Then I still nudge the midi over.
This was so easy for me to choose from. It excuses me from listening to all opinions
Thanks a lot for your comment Redd. Appreciated 👍🏾
I think I’ll either have to choose FL or Logic as for my type.
Both are great platforms but I lean towards Logic as it’s more widely used by not only beat makers but also engineers and filmmakers.
It’s like reason doesn’t exist anymore 😂
A major contender for real 💯
I absolutely love Reason. I started with reason when I was 15 That’s more than 15 years ago!! That was my first daw and has a very special place in my heart. Reason is best for music production. But when mixing I still have to go to Logic Pro.
Its outdated
very nice short
Much appreciated 😀
It's very difficult to produce every kind of music using only stock plugins of any daw. More often, they are designed with a particular genre in mind. Hence the modular the daw design, or the more customisable the DAW, the better. That's why I use Ableton it's unlike any other in terms of customization options for stock instrument and effects plugins.
You make a great point sir. 💯
I’ve said it before that if I were starting out again today in music production I’d be using Ableton as my main DAW. Logic however is part of my DNA 🧬 after almost 30 years of using it 😀
Reaper is a beast. Most people sleep on.. Can be customized like crazy and is super light on CPU.
I do agree that Reaper is incredibly powerful and underrated for sure 👍🏾
I've personally been a LONG TIME FL user, and that has always been my go to for making music. The workflow on that DAW is INCREDIBLE!
I’ve seen FL grow from a basic entry level app for kids to a serious hero for many users over the past 20+ years 💯
@MTTC Yeah. It really is a good program. I hope to be a Neurofunk DnB artist one of these days.
However, there does tend to be a problem with long-time FL users. Once it becomes your go-to, it tends to become hard to switch DAWs once you decide to leave it. It's like you become hooked on FL that you tend to forget that not every DAW is the same, and every one of them requires a different learning curve, making it harder to get used to them.
I feel like the only way to settle it is to eventually use some combination of all the ones that we like most! Basically all the most features from each
That’s a good way of looking at it. Maybe one day someone will gather all the best bits and assemble them in a single DAW. 🤔
read about Cakewalk. For me, it looks like the mix of Fl studio and Cubase with outdated-looking interface
@@IvanBlinov-po5mj Truuuee!! I have seen a few dope producers using cakewalk!! I heard Reaper is a great DAW also
That's what reaper has done@@MTTC
I am a female vocalist. I dont know how to play any instruments. So i would maybe be using karaoke versions or creating my own beats to upload cover songs on youtube. I want to be able to add effects and alter my voice in different ways too. What do you suggest?
(I dont have a mac)
For your particular needs I’d say Cubase is a great option. You can start out with the basic version which offers a great number of features to treat vocals and it will save you money until you get to grips with the platform. You can then consider upgrading to a higher version if you need to. They all offer free trial versions so definitely worth testing to see what suits you 😊
Studio One❤
A great call 👍
I plan on recording guitar and vocals which daw will be best for me
I’d highly recommend Logic Pro for your particular recording needs. I comes jam packed with tons of great plugins and it’s the most intuitive DAW out there in my opinion. It’s also a fraction of the cost of other top level DAWs. 💭
I record all that on Logic Pro X it's the best DAW imho for many reasons
Studio One is the best choice for you, you can see on YT almost every artist who record live uses S1
I'm looking at Reaper digital audio workstation
Reaper is very affordable and full of excellent functionality. I just struggle with the user interface and feel personally 😀
im not sure how i feel about reaper. for me it's either reaper or ableton. i think ableton has amazing stock plugins. and pretty much everything in ableton can be mapped to midi. idk about other daws. i think reaper is faster and more light weight. also cheaper. im still new to reaper and still learning how to use it. it still seems like a foreign language to me. i don't really feel 100% comfortable using it yet. idk. i hope i can make it my DAW. I'd love to learn how to write code to use it with reaper.
Great comment. There are a lot of people who use Reaper as their exclusive DAW for all of their productions. I suppose I personally prefer a more sophisticated look and feel so I generally give it a pass. 😞
I tried using reaper but it’s just so janky. best I can explain is like playing a weighed key piano vs a cheap keyboard or like using motorized faders Vs non motorized faders. U might say well that’s really a preference issue. Well that’s what this video is about. I prefer a sturdy feel rather than a cheap feel. On top of that ableron just like reaper you have to search thru hundreds of settings to find what u want. In logic or protools you can easily find stuff.
Cubase is the best DAW. It crashes less compare to Studio One and FL. What’s the point of having so many features when it’s not stable.
You’re not wrong my friend 😀
Pro Tools is so behind that I don't even think it deserves to be on this list of choices.
There will be Pro Tools Heads absolutely screaming at you right now my friend. Thanks for your very valid input 😀
Which one is good for producting Pop,orchestra and ambience music?
For Windows btw
They can all be used for these genres. Additional sample packs or plugins might be necessary for orchestral programmed music though.
Cubase is probably the best for you.
..the best one is the one you know the best, to me its logic x..its just amazing and rock solid no crashes compared to cubase 12..
I couldn’t agree more sir 💯
Yes logic pro is the best
Reaper is the best DAW
It’s great. But the best? Hmmm 🤔
For game audio and sound design, REAPER and all of its insane community-made scripts are impossible to beat. Nothing comes close.
You make a great point 💯
what about fundamentals, for a beginner though? which would you guys recommend, or does it still not matter I'm on pc but I'm getting a mac soon. as for music idk if genre matters..but i wanna make hip hop/ drake esque shit and like afrobeats
I hear you bro. I’ve been a hardcore Logic user for almost 30 years but if I was starting again I’d be drawn very closely to Ableton Live. It’s incredibly powerful and flexible plus it’s cross platform PC and Mac. For the kind of music you are thinking of doing I’d suggest either Logic or Ableton based on my experience 😀
@@MTTC Damn Bro!! 30yrs with Logic is insane to me!! (young guy of course lol) you must know all the hot keys 😭
@@najee2123 😂😂😂 still learning everyday. As you know music is life 🙏🏾
CUBASE 13PRO IS that Deal 💯
So I’ve been hearing my friend 👍🏾
Honestly they’re basically all the same, except FL, once you get down to it haha. I think graphics are an underrated factor too- do you like looking at it?
Graphic are a very important factor. That's why I struggle with the Cubase look
@@MTTC yeah Cubase reminds me of like a muscle car that has a dated appearance, but is a monster under the hood
PLease suggest me a beginner DAW plz.....i started ableton but its interface makes me crazy
I’ve been using Logic for close to 30 years now and I’ve found it to be the most intuitive DAW available. Just like any other music production software it has its shortcomings but my students over the past decade have adapted to this application like ducks to water. If you have a MAC and you’re a beginner then there’s only one choice from my experience 💡
@@MTTC Bro I use windows.....
Plz let me kw which to use ...I am a beginner....
I’ve tried mostly all of them from Logic, live, Cubase, Fl, BITWIG, S1…and I have to say S1 is my favorite followed by BITWIG and Cubase
Nice 🔥
Nonsense. Bitwig is great for EDM Elektro and random modulation stuff... BUT it lags in so many ways.... I miss all the recording/producing/midi/mixing tools from Cubase, Logic etc. Bitwig is good for sounddesigners with too much time... ;)
S1 has bad onstock plugins and lame sample content. I hate the GUI too.S1 6.6 is the wrong route. Now I'm back on Cubase 13. And happy.
@@Byron101_ Whatever works for you my guy lol I prefer Studio one and BITWIG at the moment…Cubase is good but isn’t for me so to each his own.
I have to say, logic for me is my best…
It looks fantastic. Its workflow is great.
Ableton looks awful. Has some incredible functions but I just can’t get over how bad it looks. I wouldn’t wanna stare at that for hours.
I also don’t like its workflow, particularly
I work too much with so protocols isn’t for me.
Loved FL studio back in the day, but since I’ve been using logic for 25 years, I can’t comment.
Basically, every other door falls under the category of it’s not pleasant to look at after 16 hours
Great personal perspective. I have to agree with you 100%
I use fl studio for making beats , and I use studio one for recording 🍾,
Yes that’s a good combo 💯
Me being a Composer, I use Cubase. Cubase can record/mix live musicians. Or, midi. Nothing compares to it's midi capabilities. Even in making beats, it's so easy with Cubase. It's the best all around daw on the market. For instance, try to do tempo & meter changes within a song on ANY other DAW..., I'll wait.
Sounds like a great all round tool for serious musicians. 👍🏾
@@MTTC Cubase - you could say, it is a musician/engineer's type of DAW. If you can play an instrument, you'll be at home. Not to mention if you're into recording live takes it is more than capable of running neck to neck with engineering/mixing DAW's like Pro-Tools or Reaper. I use it both ways for production and recording live bands. I have 24 analog inputs to feed my live room. So it's possible for me to record 24trks simultaneously.
I normally mic everything, including keyboards. I like VST instruments, tho I prefer to re-route and mic them also.
Most of my buddies are in-the-box type of guys. They use FL Studio or a Maschine/MPC.
These systems are cool. I just can't use fl for any serious studio recording tho. It's not made to be a fully fledged DAW. It is moreso for beat construction like the MPC/Maschine.
Logic, ProTools, Reaper & Cubase are The Big 4 when it comes to fully fledged recording DAWs. ProTools is great if you can afford to have the Avid Hardware, but w/o the hardware, it's just a name. Yet, it is great to learn it just in case you find urself sitting behind a studio console that is daisy-chained onto the Avid Hardware like most commercial facilities do.
Make music !! Start learning with one of the Big 4. Everything after that is a piece of cake.
Reaper❤
Reaper is incredibly powerful but I just really struggle with the look of the interface.

Good call 👍🏾
I’ve used them all. Best one is Logic forsure
I have done the same thing and came to the same conclusion 👍🏾
Fl studio and logic are great beginner daws, Ableton and pro tools are more challenging but known for their professional post production. I think most would recommend Ableton as it’s very capable but less technicality challenging than pro tools. It’s also amazing for hooking up external midi or synthesizers.
Interesting perspective about Logic being a beginner DAW 🤔
😂😂 at ableton being more professional than Logic pro.
Logic for beginners? I think you’re confusing logic for GarageBand 🤣. IMO Logic and protools are the best for a faster workflow but that does not mean it’s for beginners. You can easily access the tools you need, If u have a lot of time to dig thru a bunch of unnecessary tools/settings reaper, ableton, cubase are perfect for u. Btw abelton played it smart when they branded themselves “ableton Live” because most musicians thought oh this is for live performances. And don’t get me wrong it is. But I’ve met a lot of them who don’t think Logic can be ran for live 🤷🏻♂️
@@Jon415. for beginners as in its organized in an easy to understand way and similar to garage band, which some beginners may have started on. I know what logic can do, some of my favorite producers are redone and ethan kath who both use logic.
