I graduated from there in June of 87 and the Blt right ahead of us was the last class of ITS and we were the first to graduate under SOI. They always said how much easier it was after Boot Camp and all the Libo we would get. Well it was basically 4th phase Boot Camp and the only Libo we got was from Sat morning until Sunday evening and that was it... Lol. Left there and got stationed right down the road at Horno. New Doctrine Equals Heresy I believe I am however there is only one way to find out for sure. And I believe I would continue to gain physical/mental strength with all that I would learn with the training given to me. I know becoming a Marine is primarily having a strong mind. Being able to press forward during the hardest times when most would just give up. I wouldn't expect to come back home but I'd fight until my last breath
Mentally tough includes making decisions under fire. Prior to deployment we were shown a video. Before the video started the instructor asked us what would you do for your best friend. The video was recorded in Iraq. We saw 1 marine wounded, screaming on the ground. A second marine ran out and tried to pull him and was shot too. A 3rd marine went to help the two and was killed. There lay 3 Marines. Willing to die for each other. What should we do if we were the Marines. 1. Locate direction of fire. 2. Suppressive fire. 3. Concealment-smoke. In all these while your friend lays dying, screaming. The most important thing in combat is to suppress our humanity. To let a friend bleed out awhile longer so you dont become a casualty. Many soldiers sided with the Marines. Fuck it. I'd go out there for my friends. The instructor replied and how will you save him dead.
@Teo & Michelle Officers must be full US citizens, which makes 200% sense (all 4 branches). Enlisted wants citizens to but often accepts applicants with valid green cards (then once in the Fleet the military usually helps them expedite their quest of getting US citizenship long before they EAS/leave the military).
In the marines specifically regarding infantry, do you cross train with different weapon systems? Or do you just stick to your designated mos i.e 0311,0321 etc...

Do you need a first class PFT and CFT or just the first class PFT for infantry ? And is it hard to get a 1st class CFT and what if I don’t get a first class CFT?I’m at 120 crunches and 15 pulls ups(trying to get to 20) and idk about my run time on the PFT and for the CFT the only score I know of mine is about 100 ammo can presses and I leave on June 17th 2019 for Paris 03xx. I’m trying to make sure I’ll meet those. Sometimes I’m worried about qualifying for infantry than bootcamp.
I'd say you're about average and qual enough for 0300. A guy I went to San Diego with is in ITB right now and he is about as fit as me. You need to meet Combat MOS standards for your PFT. Which is I think 24 min 3 mile, 6+ pullups, and 80+ crunches. I dont know about the CFT but I suggest you try to do as well as everyone else going into a combat CFT. Standards aren't officially that high but most dudes I knew going into the Infantry were fit as fuck. The guy I went to San Diego with has a decent 1st class PFT (not 275+) and an average CFT yet he's in ITB. Having a first class PFT isn't gonna make ITB easier but its a start. I'd suggest you focus and prep on your CFT, because ITB is going to make your body feel like its doing a CFT constantly.
