Great tutorial! I would love to see some handpainted tileable texture tutorials for environments. There aren't many in depth ones online. Especially in the WoW style.
I always wanted to learn handpainting. Thank you for this video Eric! I also wanted to ask, if you don't mind, what's your CPU? I plan on upgrading mine.
Great vid, as always. I think it's a good idea to make some shorter videos like tips/tricks for rendering different materials (wood, metal etc.) in sculpt or painting, but remember that you don't need to feel obliged to keep dishing out content if you're simply busy and don't have the time for it.
i hoped you gonna explain why u do things. like you bumping the highlight areas "kinda" . then you draw a dark outer edge to the joint of the blade part. like why? whats the idea ? wonder if theres somewhere a coloring course or something that explaining the handpaint ideas . and also not really understand what is baking a light map . isnt lighter and darker parts are depend on the lightings in a 3d enviroment? like. if the sword upside down then highlights should be on the oposite side doesn it?
one thing i struggle with, is at the edge of a model face, the brush just snaps and the paint that i just drew snaps near the edge of the model. struggle to get it to continue painting well after the edge. any fix?
I think I know what you’re describing. If I recall correctly it usually happens around hard edges/normals so sometimes I will export a model with all soft edges just to paint on since when i’m hand painting it’s just flat anyways. Could give that a try or just paint on the flat texture or use photoshop projection for the trouble areas
often encountered some problems when using this software, when I was painting, I could only draw the model facing the camera Angle. Some thin low-face models are drawn to the edges of both sides at the same time
Typically yes. Sometimes you can get issues baking. I'd recommend offsetting the mirrored uvs by 1 so they are in a different tile if that makes sense.
we need you back king
excellent stuff. Light mapping seems way better than just using occlusion like i was doing
edit: AYO THAT PROJECTION PAINTING IS GAME CHANGING

Nice to see some 3DCoat tutorials! Thanks for your hard work! :)
How long did the painting process take from start to finish? You make awesome stuff :)
i love this! It doesn't hit my main style but its one of those intriguing topics that i know i want to try someday.
Heck ye! Glad to finally see a new video 😎
Thank you so much Eric!

What the version this 3d coat? And how to setup the shortcut tools?

I was late to the party as well. 😅Great job love the forms and colors.
Thanks! Love that runeblade on your channel, lovely work! You have a great channel!
@@hartgameart Thank you, this means alot to me coming from you!
Hey hart, I was wondering how yo ugot your 3D Coat UI to look so clean, mine is the default and its a mess
Hey Kalin! I wonder if it's a version thing? I recorded this in 2023 3dcoat I believe but otherwise, I keep the UI pretty much how it comes.
@@hartgameart that's very useful to know. I love your videos and I can tell you work hard...your 3d coat vids should be exploding with popularity!
U just got a sum my man
if we use high poly normal map, will one sided uv work?
Typically yes. Sometimes you can get issues baking. I'd recommend offsetting the mirrored uvs by 1 so they are in a different tile if that makes sense.
Don't support the zealot developer.
