- Victoriano Damián Sosa peleó los 12 rounds frente a Floyd Maywather en una pelea por el titulo en la que lanzó golpes como una ametralladora ,en combate que la decisión final molestó a más de la mitad de los 7,255, presentes en el primer combate titular disputado en la historia de Fresno, California, que le dieron chance de haber ganado al dominicano y que terminaron frustrados con Maywather.
En el sexto asalto, Sosa vivió su momento más importante al colocar al estadounidense contra las cuerdas y a falta de 45 segundos la gradería gritaba el apellido del criollo, pero no pudo liquidar a su oponente en el Selland Arena.
Pero los números arrojados por la computadora respaldaron las tarjetas de los jueces. Fue el 19 de abril de 2003, por la faja ligera de la OMB (135 libras) y Sosa apenas tocó al rival con 79 de los 565 golpes que lanzó (14%) contra un certero Mayweather Jr., que acertó 248 de los 448 lanzamientos (55%).
Sosa , quien brilló en la Selección Nacional de Boxeo, logrando un titulo Panamericano , representó al continente Americano en el Mundial de Boxeo y tuvo una incursión en los Juegos Olímpicos de España.
El no fue bien manejado, cuando entró a la cúspide de su carrera.
Perdió un duelo titular ante Paul Spadafora en Filadelfia , donde un conteo lento salvó al campeón. ademas de Maywather, tuvo una pelea titular con el boricua Miguel Cotto , cediéndole mas de de 10 libras a su rival, que lo vapuleó , derrota que aceleró su retiro, cuando pensábamos que podría relanzar su carrera , tras tomarse una pausa.
Sosa terminó su carrera profesional con un buen récord de 42 victorias, incluida 31 por la vía del nocaut y con apenas 4 derrotas: una frente a Mayweather, otra ante el puertorriqueño Miguel Cotto y contra Paul Spadafora, en un controversial resultado que provocó gran rechazo, en el país solo tuvo una derrota ante el Ahogado, un púgil , con el que rivalizó en la división de los ligeros
Sosa, además, brilló con la selección nacional de boxeo, con la cual ganó medalla de oro a nivel del Panamericano de Boxeo; representó a la República Dominicana en los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de Ponce, Puerto Rico, en el 1993 y en los Juegos Olímpicos de Atlanta en el 1996. Fue el único dominicano seleccionado para formar parte del equipo de América que enfrentó a la selección de los mejores de Europa

Larry Merchant said that Mayweather has about as much chance of beating Oscar De La Hoya as Flyweight Eric Morrell would of beating him(Mayweather). See Floyd was talking about moving up and wanted to fight Oscar cause he knew Oscar was the cash cow and he wanted to fight the best. He would move up and beat Oscar and become the cash cow himself.

I was a coach at the boys and girls club for boxing and do you think you can quess how many female parents took their kids out of my class because of viewing fight were the announcers were telling the fighters to cheat. Know parent wants to see their child hit behind the head and below the belt. It's these kinds of announcers that makes it hard for the sport of boxing to continue.

I seriously don't understand why Lederman is always crediting ineffective punching.
He sees the aggression but doesn't understand that they have to land punches properly.
Sosa was hitting glove and guard the majority of the time and the punches were slipping.
They don't have to land cleanly if your opponent isn't doing anything the aggressiveness will get you a round if that's all there is to score on

Aggression needs accuracy to even be considered effective aggression.
Floyd landed the better punches. Aggression isn't literal to just hand out points.
It's the person that lands punches and dedicates with their defense.
Judges see these 4 categories.
