2:08 - 1979, people wanted crazy, incredible watches you could see from the other side of the street or they wanted a plastic Swatch watch. Well, I guess with the new 222 and the Omega Moonswatch, 2022 really is back to the future.
This VC watch design has really grown on me, especially that strap design. I went from not liking it at first to enjoying it. Thanks for the focus on it.
I would watch a video of you two making a tour of vacheron any day any time. That would be one of the coolest videos ever. You could make it into like 3 parts explaining many stages of production or different sectors or going through the archives. I think it would be both beneficial for you and vacheron
This tops the Nautalis in my opinion. I really do not get the hype around that watch. On the contrary, not quite on the level of Royal Oak from a design POV, but close. This is a stunning timepiece. I especially love the VC stamp on the lower-right of the case 👌
This is a revival of the VC 222 Ref. 44018, the “Jumbo” in 37mm without a seconds hand. There was a midsize version in 34mm, Ref. 46003, that did have center seconds. Different movements, but both sourced from JLC.
Finally, someone agrees with me this is the new dark horse Rolex be damned!!lol I do want Vacheron to do a white gold version and a titanium version with second hand, with a black face. I actually think you showed something similar in the video. Love it Gents keep it up. Earl Greyson
With 24 cutouts in the bezel it's very suitable for gmt version only adding a gmt hand instead of the missing seconds hand. Btw original version's bezels seems like shifted somehow. Bizarre
I’m of the mind that there is no second hand as that would make it three hands instead of two, which forms the first 2 of the next two within the date box. ❤
I had 2 222's, one as this appears and the other with gray dial with sword hands. I sold the gray dial version to a friend a couple of years after I purchased it and the other I traded towards an AP Chronograph that I still own today. Interesting to see this gorgeous 222 be available again, wonderful VC!!!
I have this watch at home, but the dial is a bit different. It is blue and has 'Tissot PRX' written on it and cost me 300 euro. Otherwise it is basically identical.
About traditional design and dimension what about Zenith A484 revival in 37 mm. Almost the same case as this 222. No integrated bracelet but the Gay Frères lader bracelet is a nice one too.
Where are these rumours about a steel version coming from? VC keeps saying that they're not going to do more with the 222 since it's in the Historique collection. Did something leak?
The attitude seems like, "I'm so rich I wear a solid gold watch, therefore I shouldn't care about petty seconds." Then again, if they are copying the original Royal Oak with the JLC-based 2121 movement, it has no second hand.
IMO the no seconds work since the original 222 didn't have seconds and this isn't a sports watch. I'd really want this watch in steel for a business casual office. I like the RO in 37mm but wouldn't want to deal with long waiting lists or high used prices.
Next year Vacheron might release white and rose gold versions of this I reckon. Maybe steel a year after that 🤷♂️ Anyway, my favorite watch release of Watches & Wonders this year. I’m so glad they re-released this design first in yellow rather than the usual white or rose gold too. So demure and compact, despite what it’s made from. I’d love one of these! Dream on…
Not that I could ever buy one but at this price point the rotor would honestly be a bit of a deal breaker to me. Something like this deserves a beautifully finished rotor like on the older versions of the Jumbo
@@SimonMenu which is why I said older not oldest.... Basically the version AP made before the switched the rotor, matched the date disk colour wise and stopped making it mono bloc
I dunno. Why's my 2100 worse? Nowhy. I believe it's much slicker. The #1 thing for minimalist designs is shape, a couple of, a proportion or two. Not fond of those of 222.
That IWC Ingenue SL would annoy the bejeebus out of me for those off-centre screw heads on the bezel. Wearing your hat at a jaunty angle is fine, but on a watch?
Fantastic watch. I think peoples issue is not girth but length when it comes to watches. For me water resistance needs to match the Overseas. Would love to see all the archives they have at the factory. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
This is and has alway been my fav of all these 70's watches... Omega really needs to ditch the uggo Manhattan Connie (worst design ever) and give us the Pie Pan at 36 ish to 38 ish mm with the grasshopper lugs and the simple leather strap/buckle or even the beads of rice band that came out on the later Japanese versions.
POV : Hi watch finder I’ve been on your videos for about 1y and I really enjoyed your old branding. When you where presenting watches with the same sound track playing in the background. Videos where formals and I enjoyed it a lot more. Thank you
My thoughts to this very beautiful watch; This VC has no outstanding distinguishing features and it looks like a desperate attempt to bring something standalone to market. It really has a lot of a Tissot. When it comes to the magic of a golden watch, the air is very thin in terms of status, expressiveness and exclusivity next to a current yellow gold Rolex Day Date Sunburst Dial
They do it to let the viewer see the watch manufacturer's logo, to keep the 10 min marker visible, while maintaining a decent sense of symmetry in the whole picture.
We know you want more watches…. click here: linktr.ee/watchfinder
Hearing that intro music makes me so happy.
I pref the subtle piano intro comes with better camera angles
I just noticed, that the Tissot prx in gold is a really well option next to the VC 222 for the price of just around 450 CHF!

100% agree the Triple Calendrier in steel - wow, absolutely beautiful manual wind watch.

The similarities of the current times and the 70's are palpable-- trends are returning and inflation is sky high.
I just can’t get over the fact there in no second’s hand, love a second’s sweeping round the main event,

C'mon! let's be honest, they were intimidated by the Tissot PRX and decided to make this.
Its not even close on the price tag?

How can the “geneva seal” measure the precision of the movement without a hand showing seconds? Is there at seconds function on the back?
stick it on a timegrapher and keep an eye on it over the course of a day
Geneva Seal I believe is based on the finishing of the watch and not it's precision.
