    Back in 2003, one of my friends was working at an engineering firm. He told me, those H1Bs replaced his job and jobs of other engineers that worked at that company.
    The people that replaced him and his colleagues were Indi-ans. They weren't real engineers, but they know how to use AutoCAD, these pseudo engineers replaced real engineers, because they knew how to use a computer aided drawing program.

      My pops studied engineering in the 80s and overtime he had to adapt and learn how to use AutoCAD and Revit as well. Not saying that should have happened,but we should all reinvest into res killing on an “as needed” basis.

    4:49 India is targeting every aspect of US headquartered companies with extremely detailed and practiced plans to take everything they can to India, which includes every role in the business unit. They don't need H1B's for remote work, the work is being domiciled in India. The past 2 years have been like a world war, and the US is losing.

      Yea, it's also interesting to see how many smaller companies have founders straight from India that are now based here. Thanks for the comment.

    At this point we should just accept that IT is dead in the developed world because all the work is being outsourced abroad for cheap costs and we should all just become truck drivers.

      We will also need to accept that all work is dead in the developed world because all the work will be outourced for cheap costs, or the slaves will be brought here to do the work.

      @PETER-i3e There is also the age for reskilling. You compete in your 40s and 50s with people in their 20s who may have experience unlike you. If you wrote code all your life because you finished a tech university you never drove a truck. You may re-skill but you are still a 40+ noob.

    Patent attorney here. Half of all patent applications originate from overseas companies. I outsourced myself to Asia in 2003 living in several different countries, doing patent work for Japanese, HK, Taiwan, and Mainland China companies. They would rather deal with me, in the same time zone. The pay is less than the USA but the cost of living is MUCH MUCH less and I don't need a car and taxes are much lower. Healthcare also better and cheaper. Never thought this is where I would be but...this is where i am. I am now 60, will likely retire here. About to get a permanent residence visa in Taiwan so, hey, why not?

    • @LaborGains
      @LaborGains  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wow, that's amazing you were able to do that, that's very smart! You are living the dream. Haven't been to Taiwan yet, but I would move full time to Japan in a heartbeat. So probably the same with Taiwan based on what you are saying.

      @@LaborGains Taiwan was a Japanese colony for a long time so there is a lot of things similar to Japan, very polite and clean but also more genuine and more friendly. One thing that people need help with in Asia is US Export Control laws (do not need to be a lawyer but someone knows about import-export). The whole problem of exporting to somewhere you aren't supposed to (Russia, China for sensitive tech). So there are foreigners working on foreign sales, one of my Mandarin class classmates did that (he is from Guatemala so he does N and S America. Spent all my free time learning Japanese, now, Mandarin, sigh. Not good but read and understand others' speaking. Will be a lot more years before I am anywhere near fluent. But go to English-speaking church and there are other places with English speakers. Still beats unemployment in the US so I am not complaining. Also, they have this "Golden Visa" where if you have enough "skills" you don't need a job when you come and you can come and see if you can find anything, something people did a lot during covid (as we had less covid here).

    Cost of hiring programmers is WAY more expensive now for companies in the US because of the updates to Section 174.
    In 2021, if you paid $1,000,000 in programmer salaries you can deduct $1,000,000 for the financial year, because you paid it in salaries. Then 2022 came around and you could only deduct $100,000, the other $900,000 is taxed as profit, on top of ALL the other normal employment taxes. Then it drops to $700,000 for the next 5 years, then back, to $900,000 on the last year. Then you're fully deductible returns. That's if you don't hire more programmers, but ya'll probably end up laying off programmers and hiring in other countries through a third party, or opening a specific branch overseas to handle programming to avoid the double taxes.

    • @john2knj
      @john2knj 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      90% taxed as profit despite being paid to employees? It's not deductible? That is quite the insanity.

    • @marcusthatsme
      @marcusthatsme 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @john2knj correct its not deductible currently. That was part of the changes in the big tax bill Trump passed his last term, the idea was congress would change it before it went into affect, but politics and the amendment never passed so now it's a problem especially for small companies.

    • @john2knj
      @john2knj 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ Only the US gov would figure out a way for money to be both profit as well as an expense at the same time! Absolutely insane that there are such regulations in the tax code. This is one of the things that simply should not be. It's just so crazy. If the money is profit, what's left after paying the taxes on it? Literally zero, because it was used for paying expenses of the business and was never profit to begin with.

    Autodesk outsourced their help desk to India... they just copy-paste answers to FAQ's. And then immediately ask for contsct information to create a sales lead.
    The people who actually troubleshooted the issues did it for free in the forums...
    We live in clown world where corporations 'pay peanuts and get monkeys' and the competent people do extra work for free to make up for it.

      Yea, one has to be careful being too good at their jobs. If they automate parts of their job they are on a fast track to losing their whole job. Yea, and defiantly can't fall into the trap of actually documenting everything you do. Great insights, thanks.

    Can you also include data point on how much revenue multinational (tech) companies from US get from the countries where the jobs are outsourced to? Also include data on Non-tech zero value products selling companies (soda, cereal, plastic, branded clothing etc) which sell to non-US countries and bring the profits back into the US .

    You know how the movie and music industry steals songs and movie ideas from people who apply and then get rejected? When it comes to software engineering, I wonder if something similar happens where companies steal the free code you provide via your resume's GitHub page and feed it to an AI or something. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @LaborGains

      When the software companies ask you to do a presentation or figure out an issue as part of the application process, they 100% just steal your work.

    Realistically, most software devs in Canada can't get tn visa. Usually you have to be at least a senior dev to get it. Software dev working under tn visa is also iffy. It is in the grey area so it depends on whether the border guard likes you. For meds, just drive to Mexico
