    Great demo as always from Don... I bought one of these and it's really not that complicated when you think of it as pre-amp, power-amp, speaker-sim and reverb blocks. I like it - lots of different tones from Fender'ish cleans to Voxy jangle to Marshall saturated, overdrive... Would be great to see another demo from Don showing a few 'classic' amp/tone settings! I also have an Iridium, which is great. Iridium = simple, minimal controls, no fuss, IR loader, great tones - Simplifier = more tweakable, great tones, wider gain range, 3 x really nice reverbs, stereo FX loop, and the power-amp and cab-sim feel a lot more immediate than loading/auditioning IR's. Both are great tools with great sounds.

      @@vicenteb531 I have a DLX and had an Iridium a while back as well. My take is that Iridium probably does a better job of replicating the EXACT amps it was modeled after, and its hi-fi IR loader nails whatever cab you want very accurately. The DLX is a bit more broad, the goal doesn't seem to have been to achieve an exact match for any particular amp, but rather to just give you an in-the-ballpark estimation of "that sound" for each of the amp types, while also providing a lot of tweakability.
      I also find that the Simplifier reacts to different guitars/pickups with a bit more variance than the Iridium, probably because it's all-analog, so you have your signal hitting the circuit directly without being digitized and "modeled." This could be good or bad I guess. I've taken to dialing in the A channel for my P90 and humbucker guitars and the B channel for my Strat, and it works great. I just click between the two when I switch guitars, and I don't really have to change settings on any of my other pedals, which is nice. I also think the Simplifier stacks pretty well with overdrive and fuzz, although this works best (YMMV) on the American and AC channels with the gain set fairly low.
      My pick was the DLX, but there are reasons you might go either way. As standalone units, I think the Iridium is a more accurate 1-to-1 replication of the amps in question and is FAR easier to use. If you just want one thing to set on your desk and you don't need high gain sounds at all, it might be the way to go. If you need a wider range of sounds, including high gain, and aren't particularly worried about if it sounds exactly like a duplicate of the real amp (but gets you close enough), the DLX is it.

      @@joshundrwd Thank you very much for your detailed explanation Joshua! I would love to try them both, but definitely the DLX is a more useful tool because all what is included. (DI, cab sim, stereo, loop fx, reverbs and so on) Also being all analog and all the features right in front of you makes it just easier to try different sounds. Just my impression. Cheers

    Awesome review!!! It took me a couple of days to get the routing/signal chain just right on my board. But man, this is EXACTLY what I've been searching for in my journey to going direct. I started with the cab sim switch on the Bigsky (good place to start), then to the Cabzeus (loved it! but I was missing the amp sim and the GUI is nothing special), then went to the Iridium (great pedal! loved the ability to load IRs, GUI was nice, but missed the balanced XLR outs). Simplifier Deluxe sounds excellent, love the ability to switch between a sparkly AC30 to a rich warm Fender Deluxe, and how all of the settings are right on the pedal is just mind boggling.

      I hear ya. In the last 20 years I’ve owned almost all of the current high end modelers (Kemper, Ax Fx3, Helix) as well as DIs and cab modelers. I had GAS, lol. I get the appeal of this product. That said if I had a limited budget I’d recommend to play a 15 watt Fender BassBreaker. You can get real Marshall and Fender tones from it, it is switchable to lower volumes and isn’t heavy. I own several 5-15 watt amps and this one is the most flexible... anyway just my .02. Certainly no problem with this product... buy if you dig it man!

    • @DroneShotFPV
      @DroneShotFPV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one definitely sounded better than the OG version. I have the original, and HAD to use pedals in order to get the sounds I wanted from it. Alone it sounded "ok" but you can't get the Overdriven sound I wanted without the use of an OD. I also found using an EQ with it helped dial it in, but that defeated the original purpose I bought it for. I probably won't be buying this one to find out unless I just stumble upon a ton of extra cash and want to spend like crazy. lol

    Better then Strymon Iridium? Has anyone used (owned) both, and can offer user input?

    • @pablovegamusic
      @pablovegamusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hola Michael! Yo acabo de hacer el cambio. Llevo un mes con el Sinplifier Dlx y he vendido el Iridium. He de decir antes de nada que el Strymon Iridium es maravilloso y mucho mas facil y rapido para conseguir un tono increíble ademas de tener la posibilidad de poder cargarle impulsos de respuesta nuevos ( ir ) o por ejemplo una cosa que me encantaba del Iridium es que podias ponerlo en Bypass pero…. Con el Simplifier puedes encontrar tonos igual de maravillosos con la particularidad de poder usar 2 amplis en paralelo y poder jugar con las posiciónes de los microfonos en las cabinas( eso es fantastico ) y poder hacer uso de su reverb de gran calidad, fx loop, entradas aux , salidas XLR , volumen para phones, etc. En definitiva como opinión personal de usuario habiendo utilizado los dos si he de dar el primer puesto a alguno se lo daria al Simplifier Dlx sin quitarle el prestigio al Iridium.
      Mi consejo es que si simplemente quieres enchufarte y sonar muy bien y para el concierto puedes hacerte con dos DI o una estereo para mandarlo a consola cómprate el Iridium. Pero si quieres experimentar un poco mas y tener mas posiblilidades de enrrutamiento tu pedal es el Simplifier DLX. No voy a hablar de lo que es digital y lo que es analógico porque para mi son prácticamente iguales en cuanto a calidad de sonido. Si quiero algo con sonido mas analogico me compro un ampli a valvulas y listo que eso si que da un resultado realmente diferente.
      Espero haberte ayudado algo. Un saludo y salud!!!

The iridium, humbolt, torpedo, etc are all just simple chopped down versions of the Mini. And the Mini is 150 watts at 8 ohms.

    I'm not sure why - but between the Andertons video on this and Brett Kingman - this recording sounds the worst (the playing is great as always). I've noticed that about Sweetwater's TH-cam videos a lot - and frankly stopped looking here for how things sound because your recordings always sound - not good (at least compared to what other are doing). I'm not sure why that is - but you guys have some great players so I wish you'd sort it out.
