she's not 80's/90's/2000's singer.... she's timeless singer
@George Reynolds ur not a true fan. If u were a true fan, u would know björk's birthday, you idiot

I was a young man when I fell in love with the sugarcubes and Björk. I’m 52 now and this song still hits me right in the gut. Time flys when you are having fun.
I saw them in the late 80's at "Bogarts" in Clifton, a place where you could just push up right next to the stage. So Fun. Imagine a super energetic beautiful elfish sort of person jumping around singing so interestingly.. a poor attempt at description. It was mesmerizing.
Her voice is unreal, no one can imitate ever
I bet sia could get close to sounding like her
wtf sia? No
I mean they do both have quite harsh voices, but I don't think they could imitate eachother very well
❤❤❤❤
@@bryanclark5805 Sia wishes. Nobody has ever or will ever get close to sounding like Bjork. She's in a league of her own.
I just discovered the Sugarcubes, didn't even know that Bjork was in a band before she was... Bjork. Fuck they were good.
tuber00009 sameeee
tuber00009 Also check out "Tappi Tíkarrass"
That’s what destroyed them
This is one of those things that makes me glad I’m Gen X. This was our shit, man. We got to see that evolution.
@@CStarling75 Right, I remember when this vid first dropped on MTV 😜
damn these vocals are too strong
bjork's voice is something else
great song
Bijorks presence with grey skies in the background walking backwards is purely staggering.
The Sugar Cubes were amazing.
She is always evolving. She sounds divine then, and now. I love her creativity, her passion, her fire, her playfulness. She defines the word, "imagination" to me and she doesn't take herself so seriously. I lover her truly.
I cant imagine living in a world without Bjork, she is one of the best artists to come out of the 20th century.
Can we all just appreciate the way Bjork says "metallic"
✨metalic✨
No.

I remember being in the hospital pregnant with my son in 1988 every other video on MTV was this one,,ahh, the good old days when they played videos.
gregenanant?
@@reallivebluescat oh no-
Mamma B was pregnant around the same time.
What’s MTV
Her force of the nature voice never ceases to amaze me.
because she was vewy vewy drunk
Not as drunk as you obviously
It's a super cool experience to be the same age as Bjork and have followed her since this album's debut.
1:31 These buldings are located near the bus stop called Hrafnista.(Austurbrún Reykjavík)
thank you! I was thinking this was Reykjavík, the lamp post is typical of the city, too.
'Coldsweat' was masterpiece rock/pop of my teen time back in 80's. I was in love with Bjork since back then
Me too
I bet you are still in love with her.
Her music is timeless
I was 15 when this song came out. It blew my mind. Björk has been my inspiration ever since.
same but 13
She's an avantgarde singer, that is what distinguishes her from other 80s singers. And she has a powerful alto too.
Elizabeth Fraser, Diamanda Galas, Nina Hagen, Kate Bush........
Sherri Someone Not to mention Kate Bush has been and remains one of Björk's top musical inspirations since her early teens.
Johnny Trash Björk is actually a soprano, you can hear that in her belts. They sound really girly, beautiful and too light to become a contralto.
She seems to have an awesome range. And she'll toss in the Bjork growl. With her accent and the way she takes her time going through a verse, it definitely makes a song more interesting. I read the lyrics to Human Behavior, which are actually quite plain, but the way she sings it makes it super interesting. Also, the lyrics/writing seem to be that of a person with non-native English, which I really like as well.
Why am I so addicted to this song?! it's like a haunting drug!!!
Anthony Ogans Me too,amazing song.
Bjork's strongest vocals and hardest rock song ever! Its the song that got me into her music (The Sugarcubes) I saw her and the cubes play in Austin, Texas in 1989. Great concert and she did dirty stuff to herself onstage or she simulated it like Jim Morrison did lol! ;) Bjork is great!
and she did dirty stuff to herself onstage > What did she exactly do?
Same here. I played that cassette till the gears wore out.
I don't remember that from her Chicago concert. I could tell how upset she was with the male lead singer. And she would take shots of honey between songs to coat her throat.
@@jtstrm shit herself , the dirty bugger
@@nogingerfool1 really?
We couldn't get enough of this song and the video when this came out. No one had ever heard anything like this before. Their sound and of course her voice were to incredibly unique, and the song was just fantastic!
Last night I went to see Bjork at Roseland Ballroom. She sang, growled, and danced 10 feet in front of me. My soul ascended to heaven right there.
This is absolutely the darkest and best song the Cubes ever done. The vocals on this are haunting. Absolutely amazing.
Why is no one talking about the awesome instrumentation on this. Its not all bjork.
With bandmates from KUKL
Tell that to Lars Von Tiers

I’ll say that Sigtryggur is one of my drumming influences. He’s an amazing and underrated drummer.
Definitely, especially the drummer who is now a politician I think
Why didn't Bjork do more rock songs?!
+Gamer Daily Bjork is not a sell out in any way and if you cared at all about sound or experimentation you would know that. Just listen to Vulnicura and try to tell me that she "sold out"
what is the last sentence? lmao
Lol true
You don't need guitars to make rock songs.
First off , for Homogenic she got inspired by her classical roots, she wasn't trying to "get into" anything, also her latest album was very experimental and right now she's DJing, which actually makes her gain significantly less money. How is she a sellout again?
The Sugarcubes. What a great over-looked band. The Underground Alternative scene in the 80s was legendary.🎃
The first time I saw this video...
"Who the f*** is that?
I'm friggin' in love!!! "
Yeah, I fell in love with Bjork.
It's hard not to.
Me too, Joe.
I fell in love 🖤
She’s freakin’ adorable ❤️
My first exposure to the sugarcubes was in fact MTV there was a show called a hundred and twenty minutes hosted by Kevin seal. And I remember thinking what the hell but I like it oh, I like the way she sings, she's so unusual.
The Sugarcubes had a lot of good music during their career. I hardly ever heard any of their music on mainstream radio, I don't ever know why. I'm guessing they got a lot of air play in their home country of Iceland, and rightly so.
Abitibi_Doug Well today's mainstream radio consists of Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Maroon 5 music playing over and over. I like to listen to something different and unique like Bjork and The Sugarcubes.
Connor Morley If you like something different, also from Iceland by the way, try Brennur Stjarna by Samaris. They have a different otherworldly sound, good stuff.
Abitibi_Doug Will do. Thanks for the recommendation. Also, have you listened to Of Monsters and Men? That's a great Icelandic alternative band.
Connor Morley Yes, I have listened to Of Monsters and men. A lot of good music comes from The Land of Fire and Ice.
Abitibi_Doug So I've listened to Brennur Stjarna by Samaris, and I can't stop listening to it! It's such a great, underrated song. Thank you for recommending it to me :)
This album was amazing, sparkling pop, part dance music and metal. Completely fresh and complex.
2022 i am sill coming back to this masterpiece. Underrated band.
When I was in the hospital pregnant with my son and on strict bed rest in 1988, every 3rd video on MTV was this one. :)
Volcanic track and the style really suits Bjork's heartfelt cries..
still nearly 30 years later there , the soul slice of this song is sharp and dripping
even after years she still sends chills down my spine
This song holds a weird memory of me being 3 years old and hearing it in the radio of my parent's car. It's amazing what I remember, but this song stood out to me.
Can I just say... 'I love this!' x
ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC! 80'S MUSIC RULES!! the dj
wow she is an artist and she creates her signature style, i am a fashion designer and she is my textiles goddess-worst dressed in Hollywood? what a compliment for her, and what a surprise to hear that so thanku and boy does she have a god-given voice, her fans have been enlightened, its almost as though she is mother nature, such a maternal innocent childlike intelligence that excedes any type of scholastic education, she is a trained vocalist, started doing opera at a very early age
The Sugarcubes were a perfect concoction...this is one of the best records ever recorded. Bjork's range is undisputed perfection...just my opinion.
Been an avid fan since the 80s.She is an amazing woman.Changes styles and her fashion is amazing. Her being a dj is a definite show.
Loved this song/video when I seen it on "120mins." on MTV!
Such a great song, one of the best albums of the late 80's, a monumental work who's importance can't be overstated in my unhumble opinion.
I saw them in New Haven CT for this tour. And again in NC.
Best Bjork vocal. Respect.
naw, her best work is on verspertine.
Soy Chileno, nunca te había escuchado y no entiendo el idioma pero aún así me encantó. Eres genial
I love the sugarcubes… I remember seeing them on Saturday night live, playing “birthday” and “motorcrash”... Bjork (rhymes with “jerk” - according to her) is an instantly recognizable and unique singer… Love her solo stuff too

Sweat sweat meat!
I close the door
Shouldn't burn yet
The wires get hotter
Palms are glowing

Draw with the eye
With your own breath
I'll tear your lungs
Here is hot meat

This is open sweat
This side of the blackest meadows
I make my winter dwelling
And crush my bones
This is hot meat

I'll sail out the window
I'll walk down the edge
I will not finish
'Till I'm fully satisfied

Thank you!
Musically excellent of course. But one of the most amazing vocals ever recorded.
+Andy Kerr Too true
Not true😂😂😂😂
Andy Kerr Seriously, Björk is one od the best vocalists alive probably.
Wow what an extreme unreasonable opinion. Bjork has created some of the most amazing music in history, but she isn’t even in the top 500 of the best vocalists of all time.
she's in the top 5 best vocalists of all time.
All the songs on this recording are perfect in their arrangements, singing, diversity, intensity, originality, and power.
that growl, oh my goodness 💘
You mean that at 2:45
Bjork has always put her best into her singing and music and she will always be remembered for that.i cannot think of another person who devoted their life to their music as much as she did....
I fell completely in love with the Sugarcubes the first time I ran across this video back in the day. Bjork was the most powerful female singer I'd heard since Stevie Nicks, the band's sound was so original that I couldn't process it, only knew I loved it, and wanted more! This song is the gateway drug towards alternative rock, blue pill or red pill, your choice.
There will never be another Bjork!!
it took a minute, but this songs finally growing on me

Loved this group and Bjork. Actually got to see them on their first tour to the US after the release of this album in a small theater in Raleigh, NC. Bjork was the bomb!!!

Greetings from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Hey people, I realy, realy, realy love Björk, she is so great.
Greatest band !!!
And an amazing album.
Love this song and the album from whence it came. Man, Björk's talent is as volcanic as her homeland of Iceland (and she's lovely to boot)!
God I love this song beyond words.
What a deluxe sensual video this is.. super song. A favorite for many years now.
I love anything she works on,Bjork is my favorite female singer.
The young voice of bjork in sugarcubes is unnddispoutted😊💪😎💪😎💪🕶️💪
This and Birthday are my fave Bjork moments.
Chihuahua is another great tune.
probably the 2 best of this album. Maybe Deuce......
do not fuck with Bjork
that bit from 2:53 where her voice takes off made me first realise what a goddess she was. vocal elevation.
BJORK IS A VIKING PRINCESS!!!!!
DR. HOUSE M.D. yeah she is! How we loved that tidbit back when LOL!
duuuuuuuhhh
Ta para hacerse la japa jajaja masivamente
or inuit princess
She's half Chinese.
Una maza bjork es todo un abanico de la música! Me encanta sugar cubes! Lo mejor de los 80!;
For a band to have a song of just under 3:30 to 'breathe' from 1:52 to 2:42 shows such confidence. And then as a vocalist she comes out with that growl, but near the end she squeaks out a falsetto note. All tasteful. Fully satisfied. It's worth remembering how young she started singing on stage and that she studied Classical music.
I've randomly had this song stuck in my head on and off for 30 years. Just now found it, I had no idea it was Björk.
I slept on The Sugarcubes in the 80s, because I was a teenage metal kid and non-metal was non-music. It's a bonus, because now it's all new to me, so there's an upside.
So lit. i don't know why, but this sounds like it could be a vintage twilight soundtrack song
siempre si es de otro planeta verdad?... es demasiado
Shes timeless
is for me one of the best composion lyrics Sugarcubes Bjork's voice is blessed excellent esensia an era that is carried in the soul forever.
Awsome....!!!! love her even More...
Bjork is wonderful, a gift for all of us ♥
2:46 - 2:53 never fails to make my scalp crawl - she is almost doing rock throat singing there
I swear Björk is channeling a very good Ann Wilson with her vocals here.
She's the most important artist in the world at present
One of the finest songs ever!
Wow.....Goosebumps and....Cold Sweat!
That exterior and those blocks where Björk is singing is just like in dreams i had few years ago... It has such strange atmosphere... I love it!
This is the tape I would play when my mom would make me clean my room.
Beautiful ❤️
'88 was a really interesting year, and this great music was part of it.
Love this one
I melt to her voice!
amazing!
Saw the Sugarcubes at Reading ‘89 blew me away . them and Pop will eat itself stole
The weekend . I was pretty gutted when she left to go solo but angels just gotta fly ❤
This song is still so totally fresh. The cubes were definitely one of the finest acts to come out of the 80s - totally doing their own thing, and putting Iceland on the avant-pop map. Love to see a reunion album.
words can not describe how good they were. never has a band arrived in uk and had such an impact, but with such originality that they influenced nothing. awesome x infinity.
God this music is soooo good!
Life's too good - in the top 1 of 80's albums!!!!!
GD this is a great song. Sugarcubes were ahead of their time.
