- Say hello to the all-new BMW M5… Well, kind of!
Our in-house team of experts has created video footage of what we think the all-new M5 will look like, and based on past experience like with our render of the Lamborghini Revuelto, we’re pretty confident that these early impressions are on the money!
But how did our team come to this conclusion? Well for starters, let’s go back to the beginning. When you look at old M5s, they remained pretty similar to the standard 5 Series. But over the years, the M5s have strayed further and further away from the normal car, with the latest M5s coming with crazy bodykits, massive wheels, and of course, quad tailpipes.
So we’re expecting BMW to continue and intensify this trend for the new M5! We’re expecting it to come with a redesigned front bumper, a massive air intake up front (similar to the new M2) along with a new splitter. There will probably also be widened wheel arches, updated suspension, and a massive diffuser around the back flanked by a pair of dual exhausts.
Here’s the thing though, we know that the new M5 is set to be a hybrid, and we know it’ll come equipped with the 197hp motor from the XM. But thankfully, it’s still going to be packing a full-fat 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet! And to ensure the extra weight brought in by the battery & motor doesn’t impact performance, we have a feeling the power output could be considerably increased - to over 820hp, making it the fastest BMW road car of all time!!

I think car design throughout all automotive companies has peaked in late 2010s, and now we gonna go through another cycle where manufacturers start experimenting with new designs similar to the early 2000s era.
That should make the 2030s a very interesting time
In my honest opinion, some brands were, some brands weren't. Brands like volvo were on a strange design in their 2010's. From 2015~16 and up they just nailed it

Wow! What I found really amazing was that the E34 M5 with it's older technology and 6 cylinder engine was only a 10th of a second behind the E39's V8 power! That sure says a lot about the greatness of that old race engine!
e34 m5's are awesome. Did they clarify in the comparison if it was a 3.6 l or 3.8 they raced?

@@chartreux1532 No... this car is marvelously engineered and it appears that the external elements have been designed to accomadate internal performance factors, but overall the car is ugly, especially the front facia. The new double kidney grill looks like a dogs breakfast. Only a diehard BMW fan is going to buy this car?!

The F90 is my favourite looking 5 Series, along with the E39. Those were just perfect for me in terms of design in my opinion.

Personally, I'd actually prefer the S58 I6. It'd help offset some of the crazy weight of the PHEV, which will prevent this from being a real driver's car. BMW is also more known for their I6s, which are smoother, more reliable, and even sound better IMO.
But, at least it's not a 4-cylinder like the C63!

@@fohatadri First of all is overbuilt for durability (closed deck, forged crank) unlike the n55 architecture , secondly M division aren't idiots and made the engine to work the best in factory sate every part of cooling, injection and sump system were optimised to work safely under harsh track condition it would be dumb to not say that the s55 from factory is ready for track condition, the TT system is set up to work in a way similar to early sequential TT setups found on some jdm (one small turbo and other one bigger as result the turbo lag of s55 is minimal if not existent in stock form is hell of an engine I mean
(1) overbuilt to endure and optimised to operate safely during aggressive driving where all parts all stressed
(2) in stock form or with fine properly set tuning regarding fueling and pipes and no crazy pure turbos it remains reliable and dependable power unit and
(3) it's designed to deliver the best performance expected from a turbo engine s55 only shares the name and bore size with n55 everything is reworked and some parts even from scratch such as air to water cooling system . Overall I disagree with you the S55 is FANTASTIC turbo i6 engine
@@dmrtagge6274 Why are you comparing it to N55? I know it is based on it but S55 is M engine while N55 is not. There are just as many blown S55 as there are S62 or any other M engines because they never build them right. The only M engines that actually last are the ones getting detuned and have custom cooling mods (for example Ring Taxi cars), if not - they're going to blow way sooner than you think.
@@fohatadri the most common reason for blown up s55 is forgetting that the rpm cut limiter is below 7.5k rpm , big majority of blown up s55 short blocks are due to overconfident owners that after filling up e85 believe its not gonna harm it but somehow end up with damaged rotating assembly, particularly the connecting rods and piston wrist pin or cracked cylinder walls .

I think this design has the same thing as the giant grill on the M3: you'll have to see it in real life before you can really decide if you like it.

On a recent trip through California I saw 3 BMW wagons driving together wearing the standard white and black paint scheme that testers wear but was lacking any noticeable markings. It definitely had the M standard quad exhaust tips. I can’t say for sure it was a 5 or a 3.
Bmws SHOULD ALWAYS have somewhat circle headlights. They are iconic for that and thats what makes them stand out. This would look way better with just that

Regarding M2 vs X M, with 460 hp & 1725kg has quite a power to weigth ratio advantage not to mention that has very less aero drag given its shape and considering the speed they get a 400m is something to put into the equation. The X M gave a run for its money to the M2.

This G90 will also have a CS version in about few years. The best design and also thumbs up for NOT choosing the downsize stupid fashion. When it comes to weight, everybody is limited because of the ancient Lithium ion battery. I am wondering how many years we have to wait for a new battery technology.
Looks like a military vehicle. However, all optics should not deceive: The decisive factor is driving and the durability of the vehicle - will components still work after 7 years? How high is the wear and tear?

I like how they left the intercooler open to being hit with rocks etc, meaning it will get damaged more easily and necessitate replacement or suffer performance 🤪

That’s not an intercooler. All turbo BMW M engines use air to water intercooling built into the intake manifold. It’s probably an auxiliary radiator

There is the E in the bmw m5 numberplate, that means it has to have at least 50km electrical range. Thereby not having the small battery you mentioned

The overall shape (especially from the front) reminds me a bit on the Cadillac CTS-V.
Will be a difficult one to like but let’s see what the actual release version will bring up.

Yes I've been seeing Cadillac in this car since they first released images. However, for the first time in my life, I have to say cadillac executed the look better as the proportions are right and car profile isn't tall.

Honestly, it looks pretty menacing. And on the HP numbers, i am expecting anywhere between 730 hp to 770hp. But i hope they don't go overboard with the weight. Straight line speed isn't the only thing that makes a fun car, the handling is also important. And every M5 till now have had great handling. Just hope that this generation doesn't change on that.

I got a 2023 M4 Manual and I would definitely want to have a M5 with a manual as well but I don't think that would be possible with all the hybrid crap
