Double unders was how it was always taught back in the day. It wasn't until the 2010's that the seatbelt was widely adopted and became the standard position taught. Both have their place, however, if I'm taking the back from an opponent that is building up onto their knees, I usually go for double unders. But if I'm taking the back from the seated position or when completely on the ground, I'll use the seatbelt. The seatbelt grip affords much more options when attacking from the back and if there's no risk of being bucked off the back, seatbelt is the way to go. Otherwise, double unders if I really, really need to make sure I'm not going to get bumped off.
Henry Akins channel is very underrated. This is wisdom learned from Rickson, invisible details
Position before submission. Makes sense every time!
I've always been told seat belt grip but guess who will be doing double unders. This guy. Thank you for sharing!
