Im a christian. But i agree with this philosopher. Philosophical reasoning has a limit. It cannot be compared to spiritual experience and it should be applied within the framework of divinity.

“Over-reliance on reason.” He has nailed it! I was aversed to philosophical learning coz i saw it as a threat to complete trust in the divine as a Christian, but now i see the coherence. We should rely on reason but not ‘over-rely’! 😮. Surely, there is an infinite power unlimited by reason and that is God. I understand.

This is the problem I had with the catholic church. An overreliance on human reason, even so much that my local priests talk more about Aquinas in their sermons than Jesus. These same arguments for and against using reason as the ultimate way to understand god existed between the Catholic and Orthodox churches. Gregory Palamas vs. Aquinas.

Thanks to Al Ghazali, philosophy became more discussed in academia than before. Remember in ghazalis book he discarded 3 concepts of falasfa but agreed with 17 concepts of falasfa, eventually it's all about progressive studies

Fundamental religious principles are incompatible with reason. Also, why do people keep claiming that they know the “reality of God” because they read writings of people who did not even know that the earth went around the sun?

you might have an opinion today regarding morality. And assume in 50 years science discovers that the solar system has more than 30 planets. would that discount all your opinions?
Also there was a strong group of philosophers like beruni who believed earth went around sun

The title of this video diaplays a high level of ignorence on the part of the uploader.
Al ghazali had a war on inrrational and abusrdist reasoning that vailed itself as philosophical logic and reason.
In fact his aim was to purify philosophy from absurdism and illogic.
