    It is incorrect to suggest Al-Ghazali was anti-reason.

      @asha802 "even ibn rushd" didn't, only ibn rushd criticized him and his criticism has been dismantled by many.

      inconsistencies and limitations of some philosophers like Hegel and Kant. Here's a breakdown of your points and a more nuanced perspective:
      * Eurocentric Bias and Focus on Western Philosophy: This was a common problem in 18th and 19th-century philosophy. Thinkers often viewed Western thought as superior and neglected the rich philosophical traditions of other cultures. This biased approach led to incomplete and inaccurate understandings of world history and philosophy.

    Kant speaking with an American accent to reflect modernity’s emphasis on reason and humanism while al-Ghazali adopting a British one to illustrate authority derived from teachings of antiquity primarily founded upon primacy of Divine law and precepts

    I enjoyed the video but I do think Al Ghazali was slightly misrepresented. He did not advocated perennialism, rather reason should be used to come to the conclusion that Islamic revelation is true and then through that revelation you gain access to metaphysical truths

    What did Al-Ghazali mean by 'revelation'? The Koran? Or was he saying that the Creation itself is a revelation? If the former, then one man's revelation is another man's absurdity.

    Let me establish the source of “Transcendental apperception”. Quran(only scripture with 100% preservation/accuracy) says:”Allah:there is no deity worthy of worship except he”:The Neccessary life/consciousness,sustainer of life/consciousness.” Wire like neuronal structures that conduct electricity via ions/neurotransmitters in the CNS/PNS possess no attribute of thinking/life and yet that has “randomly” led to life. Consciousness/thinking is an innate idea(“Fitra”)that is distinct from carbon skeleton and yet the materialist scientist believes that chemistry turned into biology(abiogenesis) via “god of randomness”/”Emergent property”/”law of nature”. Limited/Imperfect Consciousness can only stem from Necessary Consciousness (Allah-One/Indivisible/All-Loving/Self-Sufficient Infinite Perfection)…

    Which civilisation is sending probes into deep space and making discoveries about our universe? Which civilisation has allowed travel across the planet within hours, instant worldwide telecommunications, AI and advanced robotics?
    The results speak for themselves.

    Not keen on the divine revelation argument. Why bring an unprovable entity into the argument. Al-Ghazali’s arguments are god-centric and therefore dull. He brings a higher being into the picture and demands subservience. This compounds the reason discussion while bringing religion into it. He certainly didn’t want to upset the Islamic community.

    • @talhahm8
      @talhahm8 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The very fact that you have reason is suggestive of a higher entity.
      If there was no higher entity, there would be no creation - and even if we suppose there was, chaos and randomness would ensue, not causation and order.
