- What’s going on everyone! Here is an unboxing of my newest reel, the Scorpion Dc (2021 version). It has been extremely smooth and fun to use. I included a catch from hart park using it so you can see it in action! I will continue to provide updates as I use it more and more in my videos! I have the 2017 scorpion and I just ordered the 2021 model. Waiting for it now I can't wait.

I just bought one of these off of Amazon and got overnight delivery.
I got this same reel, love it. Now I wonder if that Metanium DC is any smaller and compact. Worth the upgrade?
Nice bro it’s a great reel! I haven’t had a chance to use a metanium DC but I might pick one up in the future. I’m not sure if it’s worth the upgrade but for the price you can get 2 of these 🤔. I am very curious on how much smoother and ergonomic the metanium dc is, whenever I get to use one I’ll let you know man 🎣
I got one back in 2018 when I finished up with chemo. I’ve only used it about 5-10 times since starting my small business back in 2020. It’s now collecting dust from sitting in storage for the last couple of years. I can’t find the time to get back out on the water😒

Have you seen the new dc they came out for this year from Japan the SLX DC XT
Yeah man I’ve seen a couple videos on it, looks pretty good and I believe it also has the IDC 5 system

So far it’s been great bro! You’re going to love it. It’s a lot smoother than the curado dc’s I’ve had on the retrieve.

If you can’t find the scorpion dc21 I also recommend the scorpion dc17!

where did you order this from? The ones from amazon are all made in Malaysia :P
all the scorpions 21 are made in Malaysia. just cuz its a JDM reel doesn't mean it made in japan, just made and designed for the JDM market. shimano usually saves their best version or reels for their own market/
(you usually have to hit the $400 mark before reels are made in japan. but this doesn't bother me. because they are still designed and shimano Quality control, still a shimano factory, still shimano parts.
this reel is basically the same a the Curado, dc but its has better spool, better drag washers, 1 extra bearing, IDC5 brakes instead of IDC4. and you can get it to your door cheaper then the curado dc here.

@@longpointfishmaster947 thank you for this, I've been looking at the scorpion for a while now and I've been getting mixed responses. It seems like people just want it from Japan because it's from Japan lol. But like you said, still shimano parts which is what really matters. I have a curado and its ok but its not a DC I hear the scorpion dc is better than the curado dc so imma get the dc version of that.
Sorry for the late reply man been busy with work and sometimes don’t get notifications until I manually check, the 21 scorpion are made in Malaysia. I bought mine through asian portal. I would definitely recommend the scorpion dc over the curado dc. I’m my opinion it’s just a way smoother and crispier reel. The curado dc does cast a little farther though. Ive had 3 curado dc’s and got rid of 2 of them because they do get a little noisy after a while and I had one completely fail on me and break. Hope this helps.
@@CertifiedHooksets no worries at all man! Thank you for your insight, I def want the scorpion, I mainly got the curado for fishing near the pier and some saltwater action. BTW what are your thoughts on the 17 scorpion? I've heard that it's pretty much the same thing, just has like 10 yards less than the 21. I'm tryna make an all black combo with red mono and dub it the Vader rod lol
@@CertifiedHooksets as for curado dc casting farther, your talking an average of like 10 ft when bombing it out 200ft
most of the test could be just broken in curado vs scorpion. at least any of the casting video comparisons
What weight was you throwing can it throw low
I was throwing a 3/16 oz weight and I haven’t really tried it with low weights but I’ll have an update video soon! Sorry for the late reply and thanks for watching 🎣
i throw down to 1/4 oz on the regular, the new slx dc xt might be a bit better if your looking for lighter then 1/4 as its more geared as a BFS reel
