    i can already tell this is expensive just from the battery design.

    I got one of the first few unu scooters to be delivered and it has been nothing but trouble, with no less than three complete failures and one full scooter swap. A lot of the features promised years ago are still not there. They are truly following the Tesla playbook. I ended up returning my unu after waiting almost 2 years and then having three complete breakdowns (one each month) and it taking them forever to follow up and fix things. Still waiting for some money also...

    Nice but sadly in the UK you need to be 17 and take a CBT test every 2 years to ride one of these even if you have a car licence, only if you have a motorcycle licence do you not need to do this.

    Would a third battery fit nicely in the storage compartment?

    • @Electrek
      @Electrek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Theoretically I think you could fit it, but it'd be bouncing around in there and so I'd want to wrap it in some foam or something. Only the two "actual" battery slots are designed to properly cradle a battery.

    Great battery pack design! the traditional scooter is too heavy, this one with 2 separate battery packs, and it can be easily taken home to recharge, it won't be cheap😀

    I have two 1,68 kWh batteries in my scooter (a Chinese scooter called UGBEST Romex), and I don't need great weather to get 110 km (using them both at the same time, using every extra equipment I got, such as grip heaters, phone charger and also charging a small 12 volts lead acid battery while driving), so I'm not sure why they think that 100 km should be hard to reach in those UNU scooters. Do they consume enormous amounts of energy, and if so, why?

    • @batsalpandey3969
      @batsalpandey3969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi is this the classic looking retro style scooter? Did you order from china. How is the scooter in terms of performance and quality?

    • @johnnyrosenberg9522
      @johnnyrosenberg9522 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@batsalpandey3969 Yes it looks like a Vespa of some sort.
      I bought it 2017 from a company here in Sweden that imported them, but unfortunately that company went out of business in 2019 or maybe 2018.
      It's performance is decent, I think. Very direct, but there's a difference depending on the level of charge. Display shows how many km before batteri is empty, and it's fairly reliable. You can go farther in summer but not as far in (Swedish) winter. The display shows 55 km when fully charged. There's only room for one battery under the seat and there's only one battery cable, so I just added another cable to be able to use two batteries simultaneously, however the display doesn't know that, so it's still showing 55 km of range when fully charged, so you have to double it in your head.
      One thing that I really like, and I don't see that on other electric mopeds, is the rim mounted on the hub motor, so I just bought another rim for my winter tyre, so I can just switch tyres like you do on a car.
      Quality is probably not the best, but I have not had any serious problems with it. I had some electric problems due to bad connection of some cables, but that was easy to fix, and I could still drive anyway. Another problem is that when it's raining a lot, those brake switches (those who make the brake lights light) might prevent the motor from running, even when not braking. I solved that problem with a switch under the seat that can disable that function, but that also means that there's no regeneration when that switch is in Off mode, but at least I can drive. But that's a relatively rare problem. But to sum it up, the quality is not top notch, but still kind of OK. Could be worse.

    I life in Munich and see them regularly. Also their early models.
    Their plastic is so cheap, it gets very yellow and hazy pretty quickly.
    Low quality imported from China with a bit of custom tech like the batteries that doesn't give you any advantage and simply make these too expensive

    Katastrophe! Eine meiner beiden Akkus ging nach knapp über zwei Jahren vollständig kaputt. Die Kommunikation ist extrem schlecht und der Support nicht erreichbar.
    Die Aussage eines Mitarbeiters war, dass der alte Hersteller der Akkus klare Qualitäts Mängel hatte und unu Aus diesem Grund auch den Zulieferer wechseln musste. Dennoch gibt es kein Entgegenkommen. Ich bin Student und habe den Roller bis vor kurzem finanziert und soll nun einen mittleren dreistelligen Betrag bezahlen, um den Roller wieder nutzbar zu machen??!
    Das Unternehmen wirkt nach außen jung und dynamisch, aber auch nahbar und kulant. Mindestens die letzten beiden sind es auf jeden Fall nicht.
    Kaufen Sie sich keinen Roller dieser Marke, am Ende werden sie nur Probleme haben und auf den Support kann man leider nicht setzen.

    I have UNU classic from 2018. Very expensive and a lots of troubles like cable, accu, front display don't work, wheels start system. For scooter repair almost no service and i am from Eindhoven the Netherlands. If something broke you have to wait a long time for repair and extremely expensive
    DON'T BUY UNU
