ok there must've been some serious planing in animating the demon girls to make the animation as effective as possible. you only needed to animate two sets of legs (one set with mini skirt and smooth thighs and one set with one set with toned thighs and pants), and for every character, you just colored them differently as for the upper bodies, almost all of them are entirely static, except very small details. the details i found are: very slight lift of the end of the jacket of pandemonica, modeus and lucifer "headpiece bounce" aka modeus' hearts, azazel's halo, and justice's stars azazel's pen Zdrada's smoke there are a few extra details that must've been taken into consideration lucifer's background statues have animated headbanging and animated flames the entire design of judgement must've been made from the ground up new background for lucifer, judgement and belzebub cerberus must've been quite a lot of effort to make them work with the leg animation the only character without any added detail is malina. she doesn't have any kind of floating headpiece or anything special, which is perfectly OK, because she doesn't need them. this entire animation was created in a way to be as effective as possible, with minimal sacrifices, so the most effort could be put into the rest, like the actual animation of the helltaker, the creators name i forgot the name of, and 5 unique background each with complex 5 layer paralax (lucifer's has only 4 layers, but is also animated) again, incredible piece of animation, where the animation was slightly simplified so we could have unique design for every demon girl im sorry if i overanalyzed this, it's 3AM and that's just what i often do at this time of day
Damn dude I'm definitely hearting you, I don't mind, I'm even flattered you took the time!... Now allow me to do the exact same thing lol You pretty much got everything right! And yeah I wanted to compensate the lack of animation in the upper bodies with secondary motions (First had the idea of the bouncing when animating Vanripper, and I also had to learn how to animate fire and smoke lol) to make it feel a bit more alive. Judgement and Cerberus were definitely tricky. Judgement has so much more detail than everybody else. And yeah it took a while to come up with how to do Cerberus. At first I tought to just line them up 3 times, but then my inner monologue laughed at me and called me a coward, so I tought of piling them up and have them walk in sync. Figuring out what to erase and what to keep with the legs was pretty confusing (Had to keep hitting ctrl+z every few seconds). Yeah drawing the last 3 backgrounds was pretty hard, had to come up with how the levels would look when viewed from the side. And for Beel's castle I pretty much had to make everything up while using the comics as reference for the color palette and the paintings on the wall. Had to compromise here and there but I'm pretty happy with the result! Also, there's only 1 small detail that no one has pointed out so far (Yes, I read all 775 comments individually, yes, I constantly come back to read the new ones, I love you all). It's dumb but anyway, I tried to cheat a lilttle 3d effect with Lucy's desk as it moves out of frame. Spent so much time on that desk, and it's only visible for less than 2 seconds... In other words it was totally worth it haha Also can I pin your comment to the top of the comment section? It's very informative and I'd like for more people to check it out, if you're okay with that of course :)
even after how long it's been, I still crack a smile at Vanripper's confession that his main motivator for helltaker was to get people more interested in sharply dressed demons and finally get himself some quality Rule34 without doing it himself
I wanted to do something like this when the meme first broke out, but that would've meant something of lesser quality at the expense of other priorities I had at the time. So kudos to you for working on this in September and getting all of the Girls, instead of my top two. Great work.
Thank you! And yeah I got busy with assignments and other stuff back in mid october, and I picked it up again after new year. I knew that if I rushed it to post it early on I would have felt bad on the quality.

I love that you made Azazel's pencil move during her walk cycle. It's a small enough thing that no one would have minded if you hadn't but I think it helps sell the whole thing

I cant get it how my silly brain got so addicted to this less than a hour game. More than some of my favorite AAA games like Elder Scrolls. Probably because of the very cool and fancy demon girls in suits, i knew Vanripper because some old animations from him and never knew he was the creator of this game, got very proud to see someone small i followed some time ago get so much respect with this game. This was already top tier itself, what with how smooth it is and how each girl had different animations that captured their character, but including the man himself, Vanripper, into it made it legendary
An amazing adaptation, brings you through the whole journey. If only Helltaker was dodging the lazers in Judgement's part, but this is already a monumental project.

My excus-I mean the reason the lasers are absent is because each walk scene would be set AFTER the girls decide to follow him (as if they had to walk from one level to the other instead of them teleporting around), hence them walking away from Lucy's desk (since it happens right after she agrees to go) and the lasers beeing absent (since the bossfight already ended).

Y'know, I used to think that Helltaker, Helluva Boss, and Hazbin Hotel were all linked in some way; but, hindsight is 20/20, and I see now that Helltaker is in no way, shape, or form, set in the same fictional universe as the other 2.

There's something so wonderfully charming about the fact that each of the girls don't just show individual personalities in their upper bodies as stated by folks like HORRIOR, but they also are (mostly) smiling up at Helltaker like they're genuinely happy to be there. it's so CUTE.
Definitely the best meme adaptation i've seen, love every personality bits for the girls and i adored the backdrop demons vibing the moment i saw it, keeps you in y'know? This gives me inspiration to get back into animation again since this is one of those kinds of videos where you notice more and more detail the more you look into it and it's admirable. But I can't help but overthink myself out of making my own animations all of the time. I think about how my art style changes too often, how hard it is to draw things the way I envision them, how long it'd take to do the tweening, how I can't really color, still studying shading, etc. it just goes on. I Wish I was a kid again so I could do this stuff for fun instead of scaring myself out of it every time.
Hey don't worry, it's a totally understandable way to feel. Just look at how much my instagram is all over the place between 2019 and 2020. There's a bunch of color and marker drawings of games and cartoons, a bunch of pencil animals, like 3 digital ones, a few stop motion things here and there... I feel like I've only been consistent in terms of style since 2021 (and even then my style was constantly changing). I actually started to really focus on digital after a teacher told me that "if you really wanna use digital for the assignnments, you really need to polish your skills in that area", I was like damn he's totally right. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I get what you're talking about very well. If it's worth anything, my advice is to focus mostly on yourself. What do YOU wanna make? How do YOU wanna make it? How much time do YOU wanna spend on it? I didn't make this animation "to get views or subs", I just tought it'd be fun to try and make a Helltaker version of the meme cuz I love the game. I've got a few "this meme's dead" and I'm like "so what?", I'm not trying to ride the wave, if I did I would've neglected my university assignments to finish it earlier. I didn't expect this to blow up the way it did, and I'm very grateful for all the viewers and commenters. It feels amazing to see so many people being happy with what I made, specially because I also feel pretty happy with the end result. TLDR in case you don't wanna read this entire wall of text: As long as you're proud of your creations, then all the effort you poured into them was completely worth it.

I guess the toughest part has been figuring out what route to go through with this stuff as well. I'm a creative person in general so I think about creating tons of things. 3D character modeling, book writing, song writing, drawing, photoshopping, video editing, animating, I've tried it all before and I love doing all of these things, no matter how shitty they come out sometimes or how often I neglect doing them, I just need to stop depending on the need to be in a specific mood to do these things I guess. Maybe you're right, I need to focus on myself and just get up and work on something no matter how much my mind tries to over rationalize it, it's just a tough habit. Or maybe it's because I'm self taught rather than being in college, but what good does excuses like that do me? Anyways, if I'm able to get over this problem and start making stuff again, I'll at least be sure to credit you or find some way to show you something you helped inspire me to make. Again, thank you. If I can, I can try to help with other things too. Making things from scratch might be pretty rough but I'm at least good with editing in a lot of fields so there's that.

It's pretty much all timelapses of my drawings in the middle, Though I stopped doing those a year ago. I'm busy at the moment, but I do know what the next video is gonna be. I'm still bafled that this video has been so many people's first introduction to Helltaker. Tbh a big reason would be that I always end up "adding just a bit more" to everything I do. This genuinely started as just Taker, Van and Azazel in one background, nothing more. Then I wanted to add all girls, then the parallax, then more backgrounds, then the whole intro, etc. lol
I think it's a combination of the fact that this meme was blowing up at the time and based on my somewhat limited knowledge, Helltaker isn't all THAT popular, As in, it still is popular but not to the point where you can just walk up to someone and ask if they know of the game reliably without getting a "What?" as a response.
Can we talk about how the angel characters pen actually moves back and forth to denote writing on the pad while staying in motion with the walk? So great! Thanks for sharing with the worldwide audience your animation ^_^

Glad you liked it! As I kept working on it I kept getting more ideas (different backgrounds, paralax, an intro...) and just went "Yeah let's go all the way".
This was already top tier itself, what with how smooth it is and how each girl had different animations that captured their character, but including the man himself, Vanripper, into it made it legendary

An amazing adaptation, brings you through the whole journey. If only Helltaker was dodging the lazers in Judgement's part, but this is already a monumental project.

My excus-I mean the reason the lasers are absent is because each walk scene would be set AFTER the girls decide to follow him (as if they had to walk from one level to the other instead of them teleporting around), hence them walking away from Lucy's desk (since it happens right after she agrees to go) and the lasers beeing absent (since the bossfight already ended).
@@SebastianAriza Or you could've made the chains flashing in the background during the Judgment scene. I think it would add more flavors to the immersion.

Y'know, I used to think that Helltaker, Helluva Boss, and Hazbin Hotel were all linked in some way; but, hindsight is 20/20, and I see now that Helltaker is in no way, shape, or form, set in the same fictional universe as the other 2.

There's something so wonderfully charming about the fact that each of the girls don't just show individual personalities in their upper bodies as stated by folks like HORRIOR, but they also are (mostly) smiling up at Helltaker like they're genuinely happy to be there. it's so CUTE.

This gives me inspiration to get back into animation again since this is one of those kinds of videos where you notice more and more detail the more you look into it and it's admirable. But I can't help but overthink myself out of making my own animations all of the time. I think about how my art style changes too often, how hard it is to draw things the way I envision them, how long it'd take to do the tweening, how I can't really color, still studying shading, etc. it just goes on. I Wish I was a kid again so I could do this stuff for fun instead of scaring myself out of it every time.
Hey don't worry, it's a totally understandable way to feel. Just look at how much my instagram is all over the place between 2019 and 2020. There's a bunch of color and marker drawings of games and cartoons, a bunch of pencil animals, like 3 digital ones, a few stop motion things here and there... I feel like I've only been consistent in terms of style since 2021 (and even then my style was constantly changing). I actually started to really focus on digital after a teacher told me that "if you really wanna use digital for the assignnments, you really need to polish your skills in that area", I was like damn he's totally right.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I get what you're talking about very well. If it's worth anything, my advice is to focus mostly on yourself. What do YOU wanna make? How do YOU wanna make it? How much time do YOU wanna spend on it?
I didn't make this animation "to get views or subs", I just tought it'd be fun to try and make a Helltaker version of the meme cuz I love the game. I've got a few "this meme's dead" and I'm like "so what?", I'm not trying to ride the wave, if I did I would've neglected my university assignments to finish it earlier. I didn't expect this to blow up the way it did, and I'm very grateful for all the viewers and commenters. It feels amazing to see so many people being happy with what I made, specially because I also feel pretty happy with the end result.
TLDR in case you don't wanna read this entire wall of text: As long as you're proud of your creations, then all the effort you poured into them was completely worth it.

I guess the toughest part has been figuring out what route to go through with this stuff as well.
I'm a creative person in general so I think about creating tons of things. 3D character modeling, book writing, song writing, drawing, photoshopping, video editing, animating, I've tried it all before and I love doing all of these things, no matter how shitty they come out sometimes or how often I neglect doing them, I just need to stop depending on the need to be in a specific mood to do these things I guess.
Maybe you're right, I need to focus on myself and just get up and work on something no matter how much my mind tries to over rationalize it, it's just a tough habit. Or maybe it's because I'm self taught rather than being in college, but what good does excuses like that do me? Anyways, if I'm able to get over this problem and start making stuff again, I'll at least be sure to credit you or find some way to show you something you helped inspire me to make.
Again, thank you. If I can, I can try to help with other things too. Making things from scratch might be pretty rough but I'm at least good with editing in a lot of fields so there's that.

Hey glad you wanna! The most recent ones are digital animations and the first few are stop motion ones. It's pretty much all timelapses of my drawings in the middle, Though I stopped doing those a year ago.
I'm busy at the moment, but I do know what the next video is gonna be. Hopefully it turns out well when I start working on it.

I'm still bafled that this video has been so many people's first introduction to Helltaker. Tbh a big reason would be that I always end up "adding just a bit more" to everything I do. This genuinely started as just Taker, Van and Azazel in one background, nothing more. Then I wanted to add all girls, then the parallax, then more backgrounds, then the whole intro, etc. lol
I think it's a combination of the fact that this meme was blowing up at the time and based on my somewhat limited knowledge, Helltaker isn't all THAT popular, As in, it still is popular but not to the point where you can just walk up to someone and ask if they know of the game reliably without getting a "What?" as a response.
