That's exactly what I'm practicing with the cold steel 12 inches.Great knives for no spin. Finally i start throwing from 12-13 yards.I'm getting closer to 15 meters.

Sí, es muy simple, pero fácil de entender, en varios te confunden muchísimo con tecnicismos Este es demasiado claro, sin lugar a dudas el mejor videotutorial que he visto
One of the craziest experiences I ever had was throwing knives with my friends who would camp out in the woods all summer up in Mammoth, Ca. But unlike all the technique videos, I learned right away that simply throwing the knife as hard as you can with confidence seems to work the most often! I was absolutely amazed at how I was hitting huge long shots without ever even trying to throw a knife before in my life. It almost feels like magic when you have no idea what you're doing, but you keep hearing that badass thunk when the knife finds its target.
That's amazing you must be doing something right because every time I try that it bounces back and goes whizzing by my head and yes the sound of it sticking into a log is very satisfying.
The no "spin" is the only reliable one-i use 14 inch ,straight indexfinger supporting the side, have almost 100 percent success from about 10 feet. Its also very powerful and fast. But ten yards, no spin-👍👍👍impressing!
I'm pushing 70 and have been throwing knives since about the age of 8-9 off and on - This is different from my methods but I'm going to give it a try - I always threw much harder than most people and this method makes sense to me especially since I like to throw from different distances - Good job on the video!! FYI, I do NOT give compliments lightly 😉👍
For me the proof of the education is letting people know you struggle at a certain distance and when it happens you explain repetition and that makes your tutorial the best I've ever seen
Ya know Adam. As soon as I saw It's Whatevers' style. All I saw,Was your technique. I relearned throwing thru you my friend. I hope to meet and compete with you one day. Watch out for me brother. Hard to believe the knife journeys that distance without going head over heels. But very accurate results. Really solid and very powerful technique. Glad I caught your video, Thanks.
When I was a child I taught my self the throw a a knife that way "index finger alone knife back). Got to be easy, no need to figure distance , spin. Thank so much.
I like your technique. I’ve thrown knives for thirty years. I like the jack ripper knives myself. Cause they’re fairly cheap and durable. Smaller to carry. I trained for many years using plywood targets in the shape of a person. Approximately life size targets. Cheaper to build using plywood. Since it’s going to get destroyed fairly quickly. I usually aim for the neck and end up eventually taking the head off. But it’s good to practice hitting arms or shoulders for a disarming strike. Anything soft like dragged up brush can be used as a backstop. I learned to throw flat on my own with my index. But seeing your sword finger technique. I’ll have to try practicing that now. It’s also good to train for the reverse or backhanded throw. Just a little different than your overhand technique. There is also underhanded throwing which makes it easier to throw much larger blades. Throwing knives is good martial arts practice for the backyard if you’re careful. Easy to take with you anywhere. Doesn’t cost ammo or make too much noise. Just remember not to take a knife to a gun fight and keep it as a last resort.
Thank you. I started with something very close to the ripper knives there good throwers. I haven't tried the backhand throw yet I'm interested at what distance I can do it effectively. And in any kind of a fight I'm going to probably hold on to the knife.
I can practice my archery and knife throwing daily after work. No range fees or long drives to the range. No depleting my ammo stock pile or gun cleaning.

I developed my own technique when I was a kid (way before computers) using just one spin at most throwing distances. The technique I came up with has little power though, but has an accurate throw. I am looking foward to trying your technique. Thanks
Loved that at 18yds you didn't stick it, but didn't cut it out of your video. Makes you way more credible in my book. I'm gonna try this method out. You can hear how hard the knives are hitting and sticking in the wood. If someone had an attacker coming at them, you want it to stick good!! Most knife throwers knives just barely stick in the wood, more of a circus act then self defence, from my observation anyway... this way looks much better. 👌 Keep up the good work.
This is interesting, I will give it a go. I don't usually throw no-spin because I don't like those lobbed parabolic throws, maybe with your system I will get more satisfying trajectories .
I have to thank you about this. I only throw with rotations and i just come back from a throwing session. First time was a hit ! It seems to be the most efficient technique for "no spin" for me :) I will be using this technique for no spin in the future!
You are an excellent teacher. Ive seen many throw knives - always from the exact same distance - barely sticking the knife. Respectfully, they have a skill, and a great hobby. I have tried this and I have to say it works better than the index for me too. The only downside is that it is not a natural way to set up the knife in the hand if you want to execute a throw quickly.
Not sounding like a know it all. But I think if you built your target with the wood grain being vertical, the knife would stick muck better. Come out easier and the blade would last longer. Good video.
I use to practice throwing knives a lot, at least three hours a day....after awhile it just comes to you.... but you have to get to that point.... I've since lost the skill, not the knowledge though.
If the Cold Steel knives are too thin you could put a hardwood slab on either side of the handle (say 1/8 in) and grind it even with the metal. This would give you a spine of about 1/3 in for backspin control and could even look nice.
@@SB_Chr I would start off slow and maybe use a ball or rocks to get the throwing mechanics down. I used to throw rocks a lot so I just carried that same motion to knives.
@ItsWhateverKnifeandGun leather scales are extremely durable. Two peened rivets over washers or contact cement to attach. Common enough in the throwing community. Edit. Corrected to correct spelling after spellcheck adjusted incorrectly.
I say, you can stance how you want to You can leave your friends behind Because your friends don't stance And if they don't stance Well, they're no friends of mine. Safety stance.
When I was a kid, I would find rusty old flathead screwdrivers and sharpen them on some concrete and practice throwing. It was a lot of fun, but those poor trees didn't deserve to be targets.

Not sounding like a know it all. But I think if you built your target with the wood grain being vertical, the knife would stick muck better. Come out easier and the blade would last longer. Good video.
That does sound like a better way of making it
Thanks a lot for the video brother, I really enjoyed it!
Guy speaks really well
Nice! I like it.
I use to practice throwing knives a lot, at least three hours a day....after awhile it just comes to you.... but you have to get to that point.... I've since lost the skill, not the knowledge though.
I've quit for a few month's before the muscle memory comes back really fast.
If the Cold Steel knives are too thin you could put a hardwood slab on either side of the handle (say 1/8 in) and grind it even with the metal. This would give you a spine of about 1/3 in for backspin control and could even look nice.
The problem with grips is they will break off after 2 throws
@@SB_Chr I would start off slow and maybe use a ball or rocks to get the throwing mechanics down. I used to throw rocks a lot so I just carried that same motion to knives.
@ItsWhateverKnifeandGun leather scales are extremely durable. Two peened rivets over washers or contact cement to attach. Common enough in the throwing community.
Edit. Corrected to correct spelling after spellcheck adjusted incorrectly.
I say, you can stance how you want to
You can leave your friends behind
Because your friends don't stance
And if they don't stance
Well, they're no friends of mine.
Safety stance.
thanks...now I got that song stuck in my head....oh well ,go with it..

Those style knives are quite thin, move to 3/8” thick. Makes it much easier. And they don’t flutter when they fly. Look at ace jet, for example.
I have some Acejet also I do like them good for longer ranges but I still like the cold steel they are easy on the arm.
The hours you have practiced certainly show.
Thanks
Outstanding tutorial...and kudos to the brave soul behind the camera
In the shot were I was throwing at the camera it was set on the target no one was holding it
When I was a kid, I would find rusty old flathead screwdrivers and sharpen them on some concrete and practice throwing. It was a lot of fun, but those poor trees didn't deserve to be targets.
Great tutorial, thank you sir.
Try the Chinese method- all those knives have a hole in the but of the handle. That's for attaching yarn tufts, like kite tails.
