When I saw that Gold Top at the start of the video, it set off a few alarm bells given how clean it looked yet with 15 grand price tag on it, which whilst still a chunk of change, is not a lot for a '54 Les Paul. While I agree that in “real world” money, 15,000 pounds is certainly a lot, in the context of vintage Gibson prices, it’s kind of shockingly cheap. I mean, if I had a certain level of wealth where I could afford to buy a vintage Les Paul, I would certainly drop 15,000 on that gold top, rather than 400,000 on a 1959 burst.
Agreed! I'm far from an expert on Vintage guitars and Les pauls. But 15k seems more than fair to me, even though it's had a headstock repair (should be stronger now) and a refinish 👍
It's funny. No matter if you're in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or any country in Europe, guitar employees appear to be interchangeable. They all look basically the same. Same shirts, same hair cuts, etc. You could pluck a few out of the US, drop them in Scotland, and aside from proper English, you wouldn't notice anything out of place.
For £15000 I’d want a lot more than an old guitar that was always a flawed design. I play guitars. Some folk collect. This is one for the headstock sniffers. What could you get for £15000?

Right up your street eh?
Also got to try out the Fender John Mayer sig strat. I think I need those pickups 😎👌
I know you're not a single cut kind of chap, Steve, but holy feckin' shite, mate! That guitar is made for your chord voicings!
Robson with the Potty Mouth! 🤯 Cussin'! 😱
😜😂
Cheers tho mate! 😀🙏
If they bring it to Dundee next week I'll see if I can pay it up.
30 years layaway. Maybe can add it onto the mortgage 🤔
He doesn't know it, but he's a Gibson P90s kind of guy!😅
@@stevecassidyguitar I'd had a drink mate 😆
@@JRobsonGuitar 😂👍 Well desrved sir! 🍻
Did they put the Les Paul signature oin the headstock then? I thought it was only anniversary models?
I'm far from an expert mate soz 😬🤷♂️
Sounds good, but I’ll still take a Strat !!!!!
I got to try out the Fender John Mayer sig strat too. That was definitely more up my street - loved the pickups 👌 Never keen on the rosewood though 😜
The brother went to war and wasn't expected back!
The younger Bro clearly didn't have much faith in his sibling. He took a gamble 😬
Evening Steve. Catch the first few minutes whilst I finish off this last JR Beer Stream can then joining the missus in the bath, Hope she hasn't shit herself. AGAIN!!!!!!!!! 💩🛀
WTF!?!? 😂🤣
No Stairway to Heaven on that '54 LP Steve? ...... Golden opportunity missed 🤣
Damn!!! 😂🤣🙈👍
Even cynical old me thinks this sounds beautiful. Cynical old me also says you could buy 10 other Les Pauls and they would sound just as good.
You could be right mate. These old Geetars definitely have some magic in the hands tho I reckon 👍
I don’t pick up such expensive things, as my speed relicing hands can do damage quickly.
😂
You could probably make a lot of money as a one man Relicing machine! 😀👍
@@stevecassidyguitar i offer a speed relicing service i call “ have wirebrush will travel “ franchising opportunities available. Serious inquiries only
While I agree that in “real world” money, 15,000 pounds is certainly a lot, in the context of vintage Gibson prices, it’s kind of shockingly cheap.
Ha! Excellent observation sir - Love it! 😂👌
I just want to add that I think they all look cool too tho 😎👍
@@stevecassidyguitar Agreed. They all look like people who would be great to talk to. People who love music.
@@wlkalong 🙏
Some amazing players are hidden in Guitar stores too 😀👍
Guy plays guitar that’s older than him 😮 Guitar says “ I’ve got socks 🧦 in the drawer older than you” 🤔
🤣👍
For £15000 I’d want a lot more than an old guitar that was always a flawed design. I play guitars. Some folk collect. This is one for the headstock sniffers. What could you get for £15000?
I've never been a Les Paul Fan either, but it was still cool to have a go on this one. But for £15k, I'd like a Studio outhouse in the garden 😀
Much less $ than an Yngvai Strat, even with the free Ferrari thrown in....
Seems like a great deal! 😀👍
Unfortunately we're currently saving up for an air fryer, so I had to pass on this one for now
15 grand isnae to bad a price for the 54 LP
I'm far from an expert - but I thought the same thing mate 😃👍
I wish someone can send me a guitar even if it's just a budget one😢
Just in case you thought I bought this.... I did not! I only got to try it out. 👍
You always wear fake glasses 😂
Just when the "camera" (phone) is on 🤓👍
Showbiz! 💃
