I'm a ride operator at Six Flags Great Escape and I'm so glad you enjoyed the new attraction!! It's a great fit for the park and worthy successor to Bobsled (family oriented ride). There was a full que opening day, all the way to the stairs at the entrance, all switch backs in use and wait time was an hour with two trains in operation. I doubt it'll be that long again until Fright Fest.
I liked Bobsleds, there were some simulated airtime moments and to have that without upstops is a cool sensation. But, Bobcat does look like a better ride in all likelyhood. Won't ride it for years since I'm on the west coast now but it looks good, I would've loved to have it when I was in college.
@@scott2282 Salim is still the boss of how the company will run. His fingerprints are all over a new policy I've seen at a former Cedar Fair park of "10 PM posted closing means empty park by 10 and rides close early for nightly fireworks". I know a lot of people were livid about it.
I just did a big and quick New England trip. Did a half day at Great Escape and a half day at SFNE. Then did a half day at Lake Compounce and the back to SFNE again. Then Quassy on the way home. Very hot but very fun visiting 4 new parks!
It's wild to me that this counts as a family coaster. In germany this would most likeley be classified as a thrill coaster. I would love to see a GG woodie in germany some day.
Glad to hear its bedding in well. I rode Bobcat twice at passholder preview and was pretty underwhelmed by the ride, but it kept on going down throughout the day so I only got two rides after opening.
@ryan-uk6jfit's a really good and fun family ride, I've just had enough thoosies rant about the airtime on Oscar's Wacky Taxi to make me expect something pretty crazy. This was my first junior Gravity Group, and Kentucky Flyer a few weeks later really blew me away.
Just rode it today as my first gravity group. I was pleasantly surprised with the airtime although it was not too forceful, I know that’s the intention
I've called Great Escape "the Coney Island of the Adirondaks" before (while slightly preferring it because better supporting ride lineup). This addition would make Great Escape my clear preferance. I'm sad I no longer live in the area to experience Bobcat (who am I kidding, 2 hour drive to Great Escape vs 15 minute drive to CGA and less than an hour from Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, talk about an upgrade in home park proximity. It does look great though) as it looks like a good ride, and would define Great Escape as my clear preference over Luna Park.
I stopped by there the day after New England and did the park in a couple hours and then drove to Darian Lake the same day and did all their coasters. Very doable if the park opens at 10am and you are there for rope drop.
Just got here on Sunday for the first time, and Bobcat was my fav coaster in the park. I admittedly only stayed for 3 hours and only got 2 rides on this and Comet, but I enjoyed the airtime more on this, as well as the overall more comfortable experience. I was surprised since I typically love old woodies w PTCs, but Comet didn’t deliver the airtime I was hoping for. Both are really fun rides, though.
I was very saddened to see Alpine Bobsled closing for good (I just missed it when it was at Great America and had always had it on my bucket list). However, I love the Gravity Group and this seems like a worthy replacement. I also agree that more parks should install this type of family coaster.
I will never understand what current six flags management is doing. They have a number of parks full of thrill coasters that desperately need a quality family coaster. Instead, they build this in one of the few parks that desperately needs a thrill coaster. Whatev. I probably won’t get up to ride this year, but am looking forward to it next year.
In my opinion Great Escape is only setup for a family park, it will never be a thrill park due to it's location and the vibe it already has with the storybook town stuff.
I’m going to this park after I go to Kroeber’s during my 2 week road trip starting this Friday. I’m going to knoebels at the start, waldameer near the middle and great escape at the end. I’m also going to d.c. and other stuff too.
i got to ride bobcat in the pouring rain and it was running much faster then the footage in this video, i got ejector airtime on the hill in the far turn, the double down and the hump into the final breakrun, bobcat is now my favorite coaster at six flags great escape but comet is still very good
I think that’s why I was let down by this one because I thought the airtime would’ve felt like Timber, but it doesn’t. I’ve ridden every one of the Gravity Group Family Woodies in the US, and this one is my 2nd least favorite just ahead of Kentucky Flyer,. Still a fun ride for sure.
Can we be in the middle of the new era of coaster - The Family Model until the manufacturers drop the new age of coaster extremes? Cedar Point Wild Mouse AKA Top Thrill Mew (cause of the cat) , Kings Island, this gorgeous thing, Big Bear at Dollywood, Gravy at Holiday? I'm just saying.....and wondering
I find it unusual you didn't mention how this ride is a modified clone of Timber at Walibi Rhone-Alpes (especially since it's the feature ride in the early advertisements)
Ah yes, Robert Feline, lovely ride
It's a nice fit.

Are there any rumors about getting new rides (coaster's) at the park, post Cedar Fair merger?

That makes sense on opening day. Any idea how long that took?
@@CanobieCoaster Just under an hour with two train ops.

Just rode recently and this is an amazing new investment for great escape and six flags. Love this review
Thanks!

Good review! It sure looks like a pretty good little airtime machine
It is.

It's very good for what it is.
@@CanobieCoaster excellent family woodie indeed
Just ridden it today and can say that it is the 2nd best ride in the park
I agree.
Knoebels is how I found your channel originally. Loved the video!
Thanks!
I visited Great escape right after the 4th of july. it was awesome. Bobcat was great, but Comet was surprisingly good!
Comet has been running well this year.

I got airtime on Comet. It was running the best I've seen it post pandemic a few weeks ago.
Seems like a great fun ride!

@@CanobieCoaster ha! I was watching Coasterdash’s Phantasialand video and you were in it!
Fitting these are coming out right before I go to Great Escape
Hope they helped!
Bobcat, outlaw, and comet is a pretty good top 3.

Alpine Bobsled was a family coaster so it makes sense why they got Bobcat. Their next coaster probably should be a thrill coaster though.
In my opinion Great Escape is only setup for a family park, it will never be a thrill park due to it's location and the vibe it already has with the storybook town stuff.
So funny that six flags great America replaced rolling thunder with a woodie and now great escape replaced the same ride also with a woodie
Ironic

Sad that we lost alpine bobsled for this but it’s a worthy replacement it seems. Bobsled was genuinely so much fun.
Bobcat is an improvement. It's open way more and a better ride.
I mean did we really have an alpine bobsled to lose? That thing never ran.
I rode it this past weekend, it was amazing. :) . Just worried about the metal wheels.
It was smooth for me.

I prefer Kentucky Flyer based on the sharper pops, but I think this one feels faster.
Given how crazy the Gerstlaur spinners can be with an unbalanced car calling this the best six flags family coaster is high praise.
I like my airtime centric rides.
This Intamin bobs are so weird, at least there's a few occasional turns to break up the mid-courses
I like them, but they weren't perfect.
Gravity Group is very underrated.
They make good coasters.

I get why parks are building more family stuff.
Have you seen that kings dominion is announcing their new coaster on july 31st? Also what do you think of planet coaster 2?
Excited for the Volcano replacement. And I love Planet Coaster, so I'm looking forward to the sequel. Hoping for multiplayer in some capacity.
So weird that 4 out of 5 of these coasters are technically within driving distance of each other.
I like how they're close to me.
@@CanobieCoaster same.
what do you do for work so that you can go to so many parks?

But he did at 11:38
I cover that towards the end of the review.
