  • Rare footage on the early success of the metal industrial band, Filter. Directed by John Cook, this documentary focus on their debut album, "Short Bus", including interviews with the band members, live performances, music videos, and rare homemade footage.
3/4 of the music videos had to be cut out to avoid copyright infringement. These were "Hey Man Nice Shot", "Dose" and "Jurassitol", but nor the '96 music video for "Stuck in Here", or any of the live footage.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I decided to add several time frames to each little segments throughout the video, so you can learn about the part you're most interested in.
0:59 "1,137 days on the Short Bus"
    2:26 Putting the band together.
    13:43 "The question".
    20:16 Hit the road.
    21:55 Exhausting tour.
    24:59 "An angry record".
    32:26 "Fashionably... what?".
    35:36 Movies music collaboration.
    43:19 Mixing equipment.
    58:47 Ending Credits.
"Filter was born to be a live band"...
    LIVE PERFORMANCES
    Live in Dublin, '96:
4:55 | "Stuck in Here" [Rock Version]
    14:47 | "White Like That"
    38:50 | "Take Another"
    44:18 | "Under"
    Live in San Francisco, '96:
16:32 | "White Like That" (Latter part, 2nd verse)

Saw them twice on the Short Bus Tour. This line up was one of the best live bands I ever saw. Later, in 1999, an ungodly hot summer, a guy and I were starting a band, and we played every night when we got off work around eleven. Every night, our unwind, with many beers in our stomachs, and still downing them, around 3 or 4 am, we would watch this VHS tape. Pretty sure we watched this thing every night for about 2 months straight that summer !!!

In '95 I heard 'Hey man nice shot' on the radio during a nightshow. Was blown away by it. Took some time to get the cd but when I got it... it was stuck in my player for months. For years I thought the song was about Cobain until I found out it was Dwyers. Awesome album that influenced my taste in music. So cool artwork on the album and single's. I wish the version of “stuck in here” that they did in this show was an added track. I love the original slowed down version it makes for great smoking vibes and thinking vibes but this version does something else. Almost like the drums are in line with the emotion inside and the words are equal in similarity to the thoughts. However you interpret the meaning of the song for some reason I still can apply in one way or another to my thoughts. It captures “it’s a beautiful day for an execution” in sound form. Speaking of execution Amazing how they nailed it with this version.

it's weird seeing that mobile recording studio thing because its like...where did the music go they made on that? They show a keyboard thing, etc. Was it not good enough? Are some of those songs on the second album? Just unfinished ideas? Interesting to see that though...they must have had like a semi truck haul their gear around. I think filter's biggest mistake was they went and toured for 2 years and didn't make that second album right away instead. I mean the second album is good, but they should have honed into that short bus sound for a longer period of time.

    • @CrookedStepsHardHeaded
      @CrookedStepsHardHeaded  2 ปีที่แล้ว

As far as I know, the second album was supposed to be more electronic and it was Brian Liesegang idea, which is why they broke up. It was to be called Longbutter, and to be released in 1997 but it was scrapped due to creative differences. It's a bummer, I think it would be interesting to know what it would sound like.

It's hard to make out from the old shakey camcorder footage, but when they eventually go backstage, Brian asks Geno if he got in a fight, and Geno explains that someone a few rows back threw something that decked him right in the mouth and split his lip open. It's about a 7 minute cacophony of instrumental wanking at the end of their set in Albuquerque. Richard seems to be having none of Geno's flexing because he yanks the mic away and throws a beer at him.
