I still listen to it. He'll two songs came on today while it was driving shuffling through music. I never change a song when anything that comes on from that album
I recently found that album during a hard time in my life emotionally and I know the stories behind most of the songs on that album and Richard too was in a bad place when he wrote some of that music, such a great album
LOL i knew it for a while, but they're kinda in the same lane. Both underated and their works mostly famous for dark & industrial themes in film & music
Title of Record is one of those great albums that can be enjoyed from start to finish. Take a Picture was a huge and perfect song for the summer soundtrack of '99!!
Patrick basically did to his Filter “subordinates” what he felt was so disrespectful about Trent. His appearance in “Hired Gun” painted a picture of an insanely bitter guy.
I recall a documentary (Hired Gun, perhaps?), where Richard raked Trent for being an a hole when it came to compensating NIN, but then completely gloated about doing the same thing to Filter. Both lost major respect that day.
A bit of truvia you might appreciate, i was just in a coffee bar that had a french poster of marlon brando dressed as a sailor/pirate. And in French I was able to translate the title into Mutiny on the Bounty. As in "Captain Bligh". It's also funny to note the french word looks like ammunition or mutiny.
Saw them twice. Once opening for White Zombie in the 90's and opening for Stone Temple Chester. They put on a pretty good show at both. Also thought it was kinda cool they had the guy thats usually a background character from 80s/90s movies/TV playing bass for them. My wife thinks they are nice cause they bummed a cig off her after their set and talked to her for awhile.
Just saw these guys play a small brewery in PA that holds like 200 people. It was a great show. Their new music is good and they're doing larger shows lately too. They haven't gone away at all.
They had a lot of good momentum going with Shortbus and Title of Record. It also seemed that way with Amalgamut, but Richard had to go to rehab halfway through the tour and then the album got lost in the shuffle. Their stuff after that was hit or miss. Good band, regardless.
I've been a true follower of Filter since its inception. Short Bus got my attention. Title of Record really grabbed me, and so did The Amalgamut. Anthems for the Damned has some great songs on it, then The Trouble with Angels kicked ass! The Hand's That's Dealt is amazing, but Crazy Eyes was incredible! The latest album, The Algorithm (released (8-25-23) is a must-listen! Richard has really outdone himself with this new album! The Drowning, Obliteration, Face Down, and Threshing Floor are incredible songs for 2023. I'm listening to everything Richard puts out. He's sober, appreciative, and can still hit it live! Saw them August 22nd in TX and was BLOWN AWAY. The new band sounds incredible. Can't wait for more!
I remember the day R. Bud Dwyer killed himself. It happened on live TV during the noon news broadcast when they cut to the live press conference. When I got home from school it was all over the news. The unedited full clip of it showed up on The Faces of Death VHS videos that were very popular rentals in video stores in the late 80's and 90's.
IIRC Bud Dwyer was found to have been set up by political opponents to go to prison and cleared of all charges after his passing. Sad story. The man's life was destroyed, and he was so adamant that he did nothing wrong he couldn't stand having his life ruined by his enemies' lies.
They are just fine..... seeing them in April in Melbourne, Australia. Still going strong along the tails of a new album. They are one of the best bands to come out of the 90s so called "Nu metal" phase.
I seen filter play last week at Sick New World. It was damn good, I also got to watch Skinny Puppy with Richard and Danny (NIN/Filter) so that was a fun time. Got to take a picture with them.
Should have clarified that Richard and Danny were in the crowd not playing with Skinny Puppy, I happened to look over and they were standing right next to me.
My daughter was there. She sent me a message saying, "We're going to see Filter at 4:20," and i didn't know if she meant 4:20pm, or like a club called 4:20. 🤣
Man I love these guys, they get regular play at home. I love how at the end of some albums they have a really ambient electronics soundscape kind of track like the 11 & 12 on the amalgamut album. All in all they got really strong songs.
Nah not mean just cheap during downward spiral when NIN was playing Woodstock and at their highest popularity, he was paying the band the apparent going rate 600 I can't remember if a week or month either way the back up band endured all kinds of injuries and where definitely am equal part of NIN legendary live shows....to think those guys braking bones and playing arenas but we're getting paid a basic McDonald's pay check 😬
So they didn't get caught with their pants down like Orgy? I just saw the video of them running the drums backing track before the band started playing again. Jay Gordon's still doing the same crap he was 10 years ago when I last saw them. "I can't f*cking hear you guys! Make some noise!" Perhaps he can afford some hearing aids?
Whatever happened to TVT Records and Wind-up Records. For a minute there in the late 90s and early 00s these 2 labels were huge to the alt metal/nu metal scenes of the time.
Strangely I learned about Bud Dwyer through GWAR. There's a segment in their "Phallus in Wonderland" movie that re-creates the on air suicide. When I first saw the movie, I was not aware that it was based on an actual event....
i saw them live with like 20 people. It felt sad bc they couldn't fill the floor of the venue. I absolutely LOVED being that close to them. That last album sucked kinda though (anthems for the damned). I was there to hear "where do we go from here". That made me extremely happy
That wasn't their last album though. And today, The Algorithm was released. I think it and the previous album (Crazy Eyes) are great in my opinion. Check em out!
Have you done a whatever happened to Drain STH? Its an all female metal band from the 90s. European, sounded like a grungy Metallica. One song everyone might know is Simon Says. Whatever happend to Gravity Kills would be cool too
Drain STH were great. Like a heavier L7 but they just couldn't survive that late 90s metal minefield. Really wish they'd done more. Fun fact: their singer married Tony Iommi
@@MacheteSeason I used to listen to the second album so much after it came out. I indeed read that she married Tony Iommi on their wiki page. A Gravity Kills entry would be cool too.
The guitar player had a Mesa standard cab with full armor. Diamondplate. I have a full stack, Triple Rec, and two 4x12 cabs with it. He’s the only guy I saw tour with one as it weighed 1000 lbs. 😁
Please more videos on alice and screaming trees? You find stories and random things about the members and the bands then selves... I'm almost begging lol
Never disliked them but was never a fan. Really like the 'Hybrid Mix' of _Take A Picture_ though, gives it a bit of a more sombre tone than the original.
Title of Record is without hyperbole, one of the most underrated albums of the 90s.
It was rather irritating no one heard the record outside take a picture.
Was a staple of 1999 for me
I still spin that CD. Yes I said CD 😊
I still listen to it. He'll two songs came on today while it was driving shuffling through music. I never change a song when anything that comes on from that album

^this!
Me as well! I never knew that! Very crazy
LOL i knew it for a while, but they're kinda in the same lane. Both underated and their works mostly famous for dark & industrial themes in film & music
wow the terminator is his brother wooooooohhh😮 dafook
The Amalgamut is hands down required listening for any rock fan
Their masterpiece..
Title of Record is one of those great albums that can be enjoyed from start to finish. Take a Picture was a huge and perfect song for the summer soundtrack of '99!!
Wow I never realized it but Trent and Richard look like they could literally be brothers.
Patrick basically did to his Filter “subordinates” what he felt was so disrespectful about Trent. His appearance in “Hired Gun” painted a picture of an insanely bitter guy.
and a very cheap with his touring band.
Yep, ruined my image of him.
I recall a documentary (Hired Gun, perhaps?), where Richard raked Trent for being an a hole when it came to compensating NIN, but then completely gloated about doing the same thing to Filter. Both lost major respect that day.
Filter is one of my favorite bands from that time. Love the guitar sound,

Just saw them yesterday at Welcome to Rockville, the stage was insanely crowded, they sounded great
Rockville, MD?
I love Filter. I think Short Bus, Almalgamut and Title Of Record are the best albums.
definitely. anything after those three records is forgettable.
Saw Filter with Ozzy and Prong in 95. I wanna give the singer props for wearing leather in million bajillion degree weather
I saw them with Helmet about 8 years ago. What a concert!
Helmet wow, that’s a throwback!
Filter played at the 2022 Trail Hero Offroad event in Sand Hollow Utah, rocked the house. Large show.

I met patrick in the fairfax festival en virginia such a nice guy!! He took time to talk to me and take pics. Awesome band!!!
"The Amalgamut" is a great album
Didn't know Robert and Richard were related. They both showed up in X Files.
Yes, they are rocker brothers like Rob Zombie and Spider One.
One of my favs from the 90’s. First 3 albums are great
I remember my sister gave me short bus and Stabbing Westward's wither blister burn and peel because she only liked one song from them. Good times!
Seeing them tomorrow night in ATL!
Trouble with Angels is a fantastic heavy album. Super catchy songs.
Richard and his brother lived in Marietta, GA.
Actor Robert Patrick also was on the later years on the X Files..
They had a lot of good momentum going with Shortbus and Title of Record. It also seemed that way with Amalgamut, but Richard had to go to rehab halfway through the tour and then the album got lost in the shuffle. Their stuff after that was hit or miss. Good band, regardless.
Damn Trent Reznor was paying Patrick $400 a month and told him to get a job at a pizza restaurant? Lol!
Nobody has ever said that Trent wasn't a prick.
Filter have a great repertoire of songs. Title of Record is IMO their best album.

I believe it was one of the few real videos on that. Sad deal considering Dwyer was innocent
Dude, that video of the politician shooting himself at a press conference is so haunting.
short bus still hits hard to this day
Very interesting stuff. I liked this band. Didn’t ever know much about them. Thanks.
IIRC Bud Dwyer was found to have been set up by political opponents to go to prison and cleared of all charges after his passing.
Sad story. The man's life was destroyed, and he was so adamant that he did nothing wrong he couldn't stand having his life ruined by his enemies' lies.
I read that, too. It's sad how the press, etc can move on from such a horrific story so easily.

Filter just played Rockville here in Daytona Beach, so that's what happened ^_^
Just seen Filter at Rocklahoma, they Rocked!
Good to see your face btw.. Also the videos improved overall and do not seem rushed through. Love it. :)
I went to Rockville, in Daytona Beach FL, yesterday. Filter performed, and they were fucking awesome!! Great show!
I wore out Title of Record, played one constantly. One of the highlights of the late 90s
Sounds like Trent was pretty mean to Richard.
Richard did the same thing to his bandmates

Patrick and Filter just did Sonic Temple last weekend. His voice is a bit scratchier but he can still hit those notes
Thanks for the history! Fills some holes. Interesting.
I saw them in 99 and they put on a great show
Amazing video. Patrick is a genius. I live in Los Angeles and its cool to see people rise from the ashes.
Exited for new filter 😊
how cool that this came out, I had the best of playing in my car for the past 2 days.

I found filter on tv with take a picture mv. Good stuff.
Great video.
09:10 I looked it up because I was curious. The omitted word in the quote is "suicide"
He followed the science over the cliff.
I remember Filter being one of the first of heavy bands to go mellow without su*king. I'm still a fan today.

That drunken phonecall voicemail is on the shortbus album!!🤣🤣
where do we go from here was the first i heard back in the day
Robert Patrick is related to the lead singer of Filter! Wow
Short Bus, Title of Record, and The Amalgamut was the Golden Age of Filter. Shame Re-Bus was never produced.
filter is putting out new music now
