I have an Osmo 3 and thought it was pretty good - so good there was no need to update to newer models I saw as just Dji pushing gimmicky features to sell basically the same gimbal as the one I already had. Now today, on a whim, I bought an Osmo 6. In every respect - features, usability, smoothness and, I'll admit it, sophistication - the Osmo 6 makes my Osmo 3 look like a brick. The Osmo 6 Shots feature I'll never use, and the jury's out on the built-in selfie-stick. It's also still problematic using an external plug-in mike (because the set-up can still get snagged on the phone with some shots, especially flipping from landscape to portrait), but that's about it. It works seamlessly and very happily with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. The software, though very familiar, seems much better, too.

Good to know. I have an OM 2 & 3. Practicality prevents me from upgrading again given how infrequently either are/were used. But I will definitely be checking out the apps.

I like how DJI is sticking to a basic design while adding more advanced features just like what they did with the Osmo Action 3.
I have had the OM4 for almost 2 years. It's worked out quite well for my use. After watching your video, I think it's time to upgrade to the OM6 since you've introduced a good number of features it has to offer. I can definitely take advantage of them all. Thanks for your review Simon!
I have an OM4 as well. Been debating if I should get this one. Till I saw it has the same payload capacity. So I’m not sure if it can hold the Max iPhones if they ever get bigger.

@@davidfding Just get the Zhiyun Smooth 5 man, has almost all the same features as this OM6 and can handle heavy phones with filters or lenses, give it a look
I bought an OM4, used twice, it was in its box for more than a year and failed (no idea). I bought an OM5 and an older generation iPhone at the same time 2 months ago . My test clip (about 3 mins) runs ok on computers but up-side-down on TV (OK on OM4 previously). I have to sort this problem first before the next test

It's a great feature that you can manually adjust the focus of the shot through the side wheel. It adds more variety to the kinds of shots you can do with your phone and gimbal

Another great review Simon. I saw on the Moment site that the gimbal seems to have stronger motors too as it was able to handle their lenses without weights. Looks like my OM4 is due an upgrade!
I'm sure Simon would've mentioned if the payload was stronger. I haven't seen other reviewers mention it either so as of now, it seems it's still the same

Yet another well done video! I don't see myself purchasing the latest DJI model as I recently bought the Smoot 5 Combo. Perhaps later down the line when I am in the need for a third gimbal mounted camera. lol
Mine just arrived, upgrading from the osmo 3. I highly recommend the UBeesize Magnetic Ring Holder Clamp as a much easier way to quick mount your cell phone

I once wrote to you to show if the battery was replaceable so far nothing has changed on the channel.
For me, this is an essential condition for the purchase of the device.
It's nice that it has all these new features because it's useful, but so what when the battery isn't replaceable
One thing about the OM6 is that it can efficiently balance the heavier phone models whereas the OM5 would have difficulty handling such payload.

Thanks so much for sharing Simon. With the advancements of other mobile gimbal manufacturers DJI is falling short for the serious users, but probably great for the Tik Tok crowd.
Great reviews as always! Why does Auto Track on DJI products like to move the framing of the subject being tracked to the middle of the screen instead of letting the subject stay at the same point where it was when you select the subject? For example when you have the subject on the 1/3rd line, or a persons face on the upper part of the screen.

Ah, a nice clear speaking voice in English too. I've just watched about a minute of 2 other OM6 reviews & was instantly put off by them calling it a 'mobul' device. It's a petty thing. I know but I find it really off putting.

love your content and how u inspired me to use different perspective to create b-rolls. being a OM4 user, I like the large battery capacity. 😆
by the way, I found from dji website there seems to be a SE version for OM6 from China, HK, SG. it retains the OM4 2600mAH capacity and tilt range. but trades off without extension rod and side zoom control. and its price lower as well. might be good alternative for OM4 user upgrade who are also looking to retain these features.

Thanks for the nice review and shot ideas. I do a lot of video while cycling on a recumbent tricycle which is super stable. Is the magnet connection on the OM6 strong enough for moderate bumps? If safe, would you use the OM6 while on a motorcycle driving slowly?
Not everyone know how to teach. Knowledge is half of the story and how you transfer your knowledge to others is the other half. I must say, you are simple, yet unique. Very captivating way of teaching, once involved audience cannot leave till the end.

Hi Simon - new subscriber here :) One question, if I may: disregarding any price differences, when choosing between this OM6 and a Zuiyun Crane 3, I need to now if this OM6 would work with an action camera, particularly DJI's own Action 3? Is there a mount available that would work with it? Not a DSLR - I know it's not really intended to do that, but a small light action cam, like the Action 3, the GoPro, or the Insta360. And how much functionality would be lost by not having the Mimo app on the camera - only runs on a smartphone?
With the strong magnet clamping system, do you think it would somehow effect the camera system?

How would you hook up an external mic like a rode wireless or a saramonic Blink when using the om6 without the gimbal losing balance?

How is it possible to easily find the right focus for the end point? Is it possible to determine the near object is a start and the distant object is the end point off the focus rack and automatise the transition?
how do i make it sentient and direct/film movies on its own? Or are they holding that feature back for the 7? Cant wait till they add the auto targeting turret!
How well/poorly does this gimbal work with ND filters? Does the Mimo app allow you to lower the shutter speed?
Is the vertical range of motion when in horizontal mode any better from the OM5? That was my main issue with that model
I bought the OM5 to replace the OM4, worse decision. The extendable arm just isn’t stable enough and twisted or felt loose. I wonder if the OM6 has this issue too.

It’s made of some type of metal, so far it’s sturdy.
I bought the dji 6, the modes really limited my movement and it definitely not made for vertical video 🥲

Is there a difference between de clamp from the OM 5 and the OM 6?
Does OM6 payload better than Smooth 5 on phone with add-on lens like anamorphic and filters?
Can it do the most basic move necessary to call this a gimbal: a low to high crane shot?
I bought the OM4 and was very disappointed at how terrible the vertical tilt movement range was.
And when I used active tracking, if it lost the subject, instead of reverting to follow mode like a normal gimbal should, it just went berserk. Is there the same issue here?
Would the Osmo Mobile 6 carry the iPhone 14 pro with the Lite Chaser Pro case + grip + filters?
I definitely plan to buy the Lite Chaser Pro case and filter kit with clip-on handle/trigger. But will this all be too heavy for the Osmo Mobile 6 motor?
Also, the Lite Chaser Pro clip-on handle has the cold shoe I would like to mount a small ext. mic (or Rode wireless Go receiver+cable) and still be able to mount this setup to the gimbal. Not sure if this set up would be too heavy for the Osmo Mobile 6. I need an ultra-light travel kit so moving up to a larger gimbal isn't an option.
Would be great if the Osmo Mobile 6 with it's improved, stronger motor could handle all that.

I've just received my DJI osmo 6 ...when I press the trigger it doesn't seem to lock the tilt like I expected any advice? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong
For some reason the when on the mimo app, it only recognizes the main camera lens on my phone and not the 3 others. So I can't switch between lenses. What could I do?

Excellent video. I haven’t used an OSMO Mobil since the 3, so this was a very helpful video. One question, is the MIMO app supposed to open automatically when an iPhone is attached? Mine doesn’t work that way.
you have to enable it in settings then a notification should pop up

Update: I found the Quick Launch switch in the General setting of the Mimo app. It was turned off. Turned it on and now it works fine. Thanks again!
Will this support an iPhone 14 pro max with a mv88 mic?
I had ADJI osmo 4 however I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and the holder has cracked my screen protector every time I put it on I also try using the back end magnet it just doesn't seem to seem to hold the phone like it claims so it's pretty much brand new just sitting in its package and my drawer thinking about selling it what are your recommendations for large phones and gimbles because I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra and it seems like the phone is too big for this Gimble

Super that like always OM 6 works perfectly on iPhone, but you should show us as well how it works on Android
The problem is, every Android device performs differently with every gimbal app. Mimo has no manual control for Andriod. Other than that, it will depend on your device
Does it have better tilting angle than om5?
