I love that the Indian brand is making a solid comeback. I think Indian and Harley will motivate each other to stay on their toes and continue to put out quality dependable bikes.

I see what you mean but in all honesty, indian has never made a comeback, Indian from 1901 is dead, none of the founders or heirs are in that company now so indian today is a Polaris with a different name. It's a new team, I like the bike I think it looks pretty nice but it only does because it looks familiar, now this established in 1901 is a false advertisement because of what I said above, this is Polaris now not indian. And none of their bikes were built from the ground up, the were the victory counterparts just carried over, dont get me wrong like I said it is nice, but polaris should not have to make a video about how better their brand is over harley Davidson, when Harley doesnt insult anyones bike. Harley is been established since 1903 and never stopped production. It's easier now for every other motorcycle make to to come up with something because they have to ask themselves is what is it about harley that people like and how can we use it on our bikes. So in result you get this bike that is similar looking. Yeah I know you have to compete, but than what your left with is no originality of your own. I've own a honda sabre and a Yamaha vstar and yes I can see where it's a copycat of harley Davidson, I guess the first thing I noticed was the fake oil bag which instead is a battery cover and a toolbag storage, tools so in case, lol.

@@miguelsalgado4673 HD has been in production since 1903, but none of the original owners are around. Neither are their family members. Harley has been sold multiple times to save it from dissolving. Remember, it was once owned by AMF. Polaris bought the rights to the Indian Motorcycle name. It is no different than what the current owners of HD did, or the current owners of millions of other companies have done. As for the bike being similar to a RoadGlide, yes, it has a fixed faring. It has an aluminum frame, which HD RG does not, it has a water-cooled engine, which HD RG does not, it has a mono shock in the rear, while the RG has dual shocks, it has inverted shocks in the front, which HD does not. I could continue to outline the many differences in both, but the fact that it has a fixed fairing is what people will focus on. A fixed fairing, btw, was not something that HD created. It was something that other companies, such as Honda, used before them. So I guess what most people should say is that the Indian Challenger is copying a Goldwing.

    • @allanmccullough8550

@@jaimechavez4580 As far as I know HD was sold to AMF and bought back my management some time later. What's this "multiple times" thing? It is different because Indian was gone and until Polaris came along nobody ever made and Indian motorcycle, after it went out of production many years ago. People just threw a bunch of sourced parts together with an S&S engine.

    • @royrodgers757

@@allanmccullough8550 so in your assumption HD has been around since 1903 and a company that's only a few years old are crushing HD in sales and grabbing up all the younger riders? Does that hurt more or less?

Indian is really stepping up their game. This is good for the entire industry, competition makes for better products. Indian just released the teaser on their PowerPlus motor, V-twin, water cooled, overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, 120hp. I am looking for a reason to stay with an American brand, hopefully this new motor does it. Thanks for posting.

I rode a Harley Street Glide(2018) and an Indian Chieftain(2019) back to back today. I was shocked by the very noticeable difference in comfort riding the Indian. The road was a bit bumpy and where the Harley caused me to wince due to my bad back, not once did I feel the same pain with the Indian. I literally returned on the Harley, and got right on the Indian - same exact road. Never mind the extra features and power, this alone was the selling point for me. Great bikes that they are putting thought and effort into building.

Indian is on par with Harley-Davidson in every way from the durability and technology. The gear drive primary and ease of oil changes rival Harley’s 3 hole changes. Indian and Harley need liquid cooling to cool the motors down but oil and air will do if fins keep getting bigger.
And bro you need some taller handle bars by KSTcustoms like me, the 12 or 14 inch mayhem bars will do a tall dude like you some real good.

I agree with you on your points with this bike. Indian’s appear overly plastic in appearance and feel. Paint is another area where IMHO Indian does not hold par with HD. Indian has a water cooled 108CI with 122 hp and 128 ft lbs of torque which is going to get a bunch attention coming soon. Always been been satisfied with HD. Nothing’s perfect just perfect for me. Life’s short short, just buy the bike! Ride safe and ride often.

Road Glide ----> I own a 2020, Harley, Electra GlideStandard and the bags are plastic, the side covers are plastic, the chrome dash and gas cap is plastic, the inner faring is plastic, the cover behind the ignition switch is plastic, the chrome cover underneath the headlight is plastic and behind the turn signal is plastic, the turn signal ar plastic. The fit and overall fitness is much nicer on the Harley. The Fox mon-Shock gives a whole lot better ride than even a Harley Extra-glide because it has more suspension travel.

The new engine and models they are releasing next week sound promising. Wonder if Sasquatches would be more intimidated from Indians than Harleys as not to step out in front of them. Here's one thing you have to know...the rear shock is air adjustable...so if there was no air in the rear suspension, it WILL feel less planted. Once you get air in it, it's way less squirrelly than the touring Harleys. That's coming from renting an RG, SG and a Chieftain for 1,000+ mile rides.
I bought a new 2018 Chieftain after renting them all and I can tell you, riding home from the dealer eith no air in that rear shock was soft and bouncy. Put about 75 psi in that rear shock and 25+ over yellow sign speeds is very easy and planted.
In the end though, don't just trust anyone else's opinion...they aren't YOU. Go rent/ride one for a long trip and see for yourself.

I do not like the aesthetic of the display, I much prefer the layout of your SG. The color and overall style is great, but I don't see enough to make it more compelling than the SG. The locking bags and electric windshield are very nice, but again not enough. I am glad to see Indian coming back strong, and definitely feel like they will keep Harley on their toes, or should at least. Thanks for sharing your thoughts TT, a redesign of that instrument panel (the housing, not the display itself, which looks great) would make this a strong alternative to the SG.

Indian needs to add that hill hold. It's not natural that Harley would have anything useful that Indian didn't have long before. Indian was always the innovator.

TV cabinet is a great analogy! The design cues of the Indian immediately look dated. That’s my biggest issue with the design of the motorcycle; I’ve genuinely tried to love the Indian baggers, but they lack the timeless beauty a Harley Davidson has. Until the design team irons out those design flaws, I’ll stick with Harley. There’s a reason why HD motorcycles retain their value better than any other motorcycle manufacturer, this is another reason why.

I think what Brian meant was that you have to shell more money to make a hog ride and perform better than in stock form. My cousin's Harley shakes like it's gonna fall apart. Lol

Shark, I paid $25,900 for my new 19 Chieftain at dealer. Friend paid 29,000 for SG both factory. Plus it has major out of the box must haves that HD doesn’t. Led lights, retractable windshield, auto/remote locking bags, three ride modes, rear cylinder deactivation, far better sound and infotainment system, Fox adjustable air Suspension. Just superior all the way to HD h as hands down.

Listen, I've been a M/Cist, for 50 years. My PREVIOUS M/C, was a Dyna StreetBob.
The StreetBob, was My ONLY American M/C.(Don't tell TRUMP.)
    I had 3 BMWs. I had 3 Triumphs. I had a Norton Commando 'S.' I had a BUNCH of Japanese Bikes.
I almost forgot, I had a FEW BSAs.
I have PARKINSON'S DISEASE.(NO BALANCE) My Dyna StreetBob, is SOLD & GONE to GERMANY.
(I LIKE THAT-I was in Germany, in THE ARMY, '74-'75.
I want TWO Indians. I want a "Challenger." I want a "Scout" of "Bobber" Trim.
