We took Indian Motorcycle's Chieftain out and put the new 116 through the paces to see how it stacked up against not only its main competitor the HD Street Glide but how it compares to its stablemate the Challenger.
    Challenger vs Road Glide

Good job on the review. I enjoyed it. Just bought 20 Chieftain Dark Horse with the 116, and my wife got a 20 Springfield Dark Horse 116.

Excellent review! You covered all the important and most common subjects nicely and then dove into the minutiae gracefully! Thanks!

Would you do a comparison to the victory cross country? I sold my last one as I ended up making a healthy profit and loved it! I don’t really want to go back to the exact same bike as I like trying new things. But I don’t know if any bike that can lean in the corners the same as the cross country. It felt really good being able to lean that far before hitting floor boards especially when commuting up and down a very twisty canyon daily. Also from what I gather the victory 106 is a great blend of both Indians offerings. Higher Revving but still air cooled. I really prefer air cooled bikes especially for long distance cruisers. Just less to go wrong and air cooled motors usually are able to handle more mileage with looser tolerances.

I'd consider a Challenger in a few years, once all the kinks have been worked out. I love my liquid cooled VROD, and if Harley doesn't step their game up to compete with the Challenger, I'll have to switch to Indian until they do.

My dream bike. After several Harley’s I took a few years off. Bought a Kawasaki 1600 for 3000 dollars to save money for the Indian. In the next 5 years I will be ready! 😎👍🏼

I'm so torn! At 36 I'm gonna buy my one and only new bike and it has to be the right one . I've always had Harley's and love them. So I'm afraid to gamble on something new for that much money and not bond with it.

It handles like my 2018 Roadmaster TS 111 the Factory 116 is not as powerful as the 111 upgrade to the 116

Nah. Sorry but the bike does not ride as nice or handle as well as the Harley. I rented one to find out. I didn’t like it.

If your first thought in buying a new bike is its resale value then you're backassward.
