    I just actually ordered the Phelps call that he uses and the maverick as well before any of these videos LOL. Also it's my first season calling I'm telling ya what the maverick was ment to be the first call I have ever used. And it rips like crazy. It does work better for me than what Jason Phelps uses. Love It...

    5:56 anyone else having trouble getting this down? When I got the high note, once I put my lips together I instantly lose the note and just end up spitting into the tube

    • @shallarymarie7571
      @shallarymarie7571 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it’s not all about the air pressure to make the high note, but once you’re buzzing your lips, you have to giterdone. I exhale not necessarily faster, but almost with more emphasis on the air because you have to get the air out past your lips while they’re mostly closed. I can bugle with my stomach pretty relaxed, since it’s mostly about tongue pressure, but if you’re going to do a lip bawl, you have to flex your abs. TLDR; blow harder. LOL

    In a typical season how many diaphragms would it take to go say two weeks of bugling a lot.? I practice bugling a lot while driving for work. Calls seem to get stretchy and do not last very long. Is this true, or am I just searching for a reason to justify buying more calls to my wife ha ha

    • @THEBUGLERBRAND
      @THEBUGLERBRAND 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jacob Peterson - Depending on brand and type of diaphragm reed you're using, and how hard you blow your call. Calls that are built with thinner latex and are easier to blow, may not last as long as some that have thicker latex. That being said, I've destroyed 6-8 diaphragm reeds in one week, and had 2 last through the whole hunt without giving up. I always take plenty, in case I have some major bugle fests and destroy my calls. I want to make sure I have enough for the whole trip. I designed the Maverick diaphragm with Phelps game calls to stand up to hard calling. It's made with thick, tight stretched latex that works awesome for me. But everyone is a little different, so it may or may not complement your style of calling. Good luck and keep practicing 👍🏻

    • @TheChuckler12
      @TheChuckler12 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THE BUGLER awesome. Thank You. I have been using The contender and I have a tendency to have to blow harder at times to reach that top end. So most likely I am right and will be the type that goes through more calls. I’ve always struggled with thick latex or double reeds.
      Thank You

    • @THEBUGLERBRAND

      I used two Maverick reeds for the two week period that I was in Colorado and Wyoming this fall. The second reed is still running strong and will work well into my hunt this weekend. We didn't have as many screaming matches as normal, so I'd say 4 reeds would have sufficed on a normal year for 2 weeks
