You may not believe this, but you have no idea what you have just described!! I mean that in a positive way, because I've been playing trumpet for 56 years, and the hiss that you describe, is EXACTLY how we position our tongue to play in the extreme upper register… A.k.a. really high notes!! It's the same way....to play higher you push your tongue up against your roof your mouth harder so you have to blow harder to get those notes, and it produces a venturi effect, thereby causing the air steam to travel at a much faster speed!! Isn't that something!!!

I got decent at turkey alling as a teen. I just got your green call for my first elk season. Boy oh boy there is not as much overlap as I'd hoped. It took about half of a 4 hour drive to stop sounding like a mammalian chicken, then another hour to not sound like a 500 pound bird.

I was able to call for elk without a diaphragm, the guy that I was with was calling for elk one night and asked if some of us wanted to try so we did, (at the time, my friends and I that wanted to try knew nothing about bugling) so the guy handed us this tube looking thing but didn’t tell us there was a diaphragm so we were just sounding like a bunch of morons in the process. After I saw my friend try over and over, I decided to try one more time... so I took a deep breath and made my voice really high and it actually worked, but what was the most interesting part to me tho is once I hit the “frequency” my voice kinda just locked in that tune, it was probably one of my favorite experiences while camping!

As soon as the stiffened up the tape worked and sealed fine. Latex still seems good so far. The tape just got to soft and wouldn’t seal. Hope if someone else is having this same issue can find this helpful. Heats bad. But if you want to practice make sure you taking turns with calls! I don’t think my tongue was designed to work this way. 😂

Every time I put the call in my mouth and my tongue against it I never get a sound. What’s happening

Keep trying! One day you will get that sound you're looking for. Most people can't use these because they give up where you are. Take it work, in the car and around the house. Drive your neighbors crazy.

Guess I’ve been good at calls. I learned how to call without using any tools. I got a baby elk being pissy/distressed

So guys I got into it the other day with your buddies on you tube and I'm not backing down but I enjoy their show. I know you do special hunts for disabled so you carry the guns at times. Heck you have even carried the hunter. Just absolutely awesome. What about the kid who draws a tag and the adult carries the gun, puts it on the tri pod and sights on animal and then says here you go son shoot him. I said that was rediculous and actually quit watching that video. They responded to me basically saying nice to know I was against kids getting outdoors.... my response was who's tag is it ? The kids or your tag because your acting like its your tag and not letting your kid hunt. Dictating what he shoots ect. That kid should be carrying his gun and shooting whatever the heck he thinks is good enough to shoot... I also said if a kid can't carry a gun or sight in on an animal just maybe he isn't ready to hunt. There are several videos out there like that. Like the kids first time shooting was day before hunting season. If it was archery. The adult gonna draw the bow. Set the yardage pin then say kid pull the trigger release and somehow thats the kids hunt. Its the same thing with packing a gun and setting it all up so kids only job is to get ahold of gun and squeeze the trigger. Anyway I didn't like it on so many levels. Didn't like their response either. Do you think I'm wrong. No one ever carried my gun. When I turned 12 I was well experienced in killing things. Groundsquirrels are the best practice ever. Just saying

Awesome tutorial, but the quartering toward shot that bow hunter took in the follow up credentials was plain stupid.
