    That final reveal of the whole army was magnificent. At first I was unsure of that paint scheme but seeing it like that, an eerie horde works so well ! Hats off to you for staying the distance and painting the whole lot. Well worth the effort put in. Thanks for posting!

      I’m glad you enjoyed it man! It’s really amazing how seeing a whole army of something makes it look so much better. Just one stonecast model is alright, but all of them together tells a bigger story for sure :)

    I'll admit, I wasn't sold at first on this concept. I kept thinking "there's just so much awesome detail on those models that won't get painted" which made me sad. By the end of the video I did a complete 180 and was in total awe. The glowing effect really sells that style and they look incredible. Very well done.

    Such a simple yet perfect concept that I think you pulled off excellently!
    Id echo a few of the comments here, whereas I don't think the amount of flock is an issue I do think that it needs some variation in the colour of it. Maybe a mixture of different colours of green for the moss.
    Fantastic final product either way, Great stuff.

      If you have a ton of stuff in purple and green then maybe look into, and I’m not joking, buzz light year warhammer, you would think it would be awful, but it’s kinda rad, and that would be an awesome scheme for Eldar. It’s hard to decide lol, ynarri is pretty cool, but the others have more variety, but that also adds to the time it will take to finish it.

    Cool army and neat idea. I think if I tried this I'd lean on the airbrush more and also introduce more colors. Often rocks can appear reds, purples blues, yellows or greens. Pretty much any color besides grey. I think I'd do the old cold shadow warm highlight and maybe use a blue green from the shadows and a purple/magenta from the top and dry brush the entire thing in a neutral grey to tie it together. Would then probably oil wash in a paynes grey. IDK what I'm talking about lol. Good job!

    Flocking hell! That's a lot of flock. They turned out great. I don't know if it's the video or not, but that green flock is very vibrant. I might have sprayed a diluted brown wash over the flock to unify it/full it down a little.

    👍

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      On the video it’s like 10 times more vibrant lol. The green really shows through with all the light hitting it. It’s still super green looking at it on the table, but the vibrancy matches more of the blues on the model so it’s not super overwhelming. That being said, I almost went back in with some brown inks to push it back down a little, but I kind of hit a point where it was super late and I didn’t want to ruin it lol.

    this is so cool, it feels very Dark Souls esc to me and that is my jam. Wish i had a reason to own 2000pt of stormcast. one thing i would have loved to have seen even if it was just on 1-2 models woulda been a "broken statue" effect with the broken peice as rubble on the base but i dont quite know how one would pull that off realistically

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do love Dark Souls, tattoo on my right elbow :)
      There was one model that broke during shipping, I put the piece on the base and glued it down. I’ve seen some other stonecast where they were all cut up and broken, it’s a really cool look! Snip bits off here and there, litter the pieces on the ground and put some texture on the ends of the broken bits.

    titanesk work and very organised! If i may, why didn't you used that moss cup to immerge your models, for covering the base, that would have save some time and cleaning? but i suspect i am missing something here. Awsome work!

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cup was a little small. I could have put it into a larger tub of course. Honestly it was probably the lack of sleep more than anything that led to the decision to just dump it and pick it up lol.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I have a few other darker grasses, they do look nice. If I were going to commit to another stonecast style army I would probably vary up the moss a bit more. That being said, I do like the way the green contrasts with all the darkness of these guys. I’ll be using more of these grasses for upcoming projects, im hoping to find a good balance of brightness to variety of color.

    This scheme really works for these models. What did you think of how the stardrake was originally painted?

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought the original paint job was alright, pretty traditional. If this was any other time, or any other army, I probably would have stripped it and painted it pretty similarly I imagine.

    • @justinvenable917
      @justinvenable917 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues Any pointers? I painted that and then traded it away. :D

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bigger models like this can be difficult. Consistency is really what you’re after for a lot of it so I would opt for airbrushing probably 80% of it, or getting the proper blue to spray can it with. The best advice I can give is to just go for it and not be intimidated by the size. It will probably take you longer to paint, but it’s not too different from a regular Stormcast model. You will hit a phase while painting where it probably won’t look good, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong, you just have to keep putting more paint on the model. Pushing through and getting to the end will be super rewarding!

    I know this video is older, so I'm not sure if you'll see this comment, but for the glue you used to set the grass, did you just use PVA/elmer's glue?
