      I agree party. But to me Vince looks like a Ken doll, almost not real. I find it hard to articulate. I think some real “strength” elements are missing, and that’s why it looks odd. (Traps, larger core, hip muscles, glutes and hamstrings) to my mind they are underdeveloped

    Hello! Just want to point out something. And I mean no offense at all. As someone who has been doing Vince Gironda exercises off and on for over 10 years (huge fan of his opinions), and also owning the book by Alan Palmieri, 'Vince Gironda Legend and Myth' that details Vince's philosophies and exercises, I have to say that there is an error in the video. On the part covering his Perfect Curl. It is explained that the person start with their head and shoulders slightly in front of their hips, and gradually move their hips and shoulders back throughout the motion of the Curl, then in reverse back to the starting position. This is actually totally backwards. Starting position is head and shoulders BACK and moving them forward through the movement. I confirmed this from the above mentioned book to be sure, and I've seen it performed correctly in other videos and spoken about elsewhere as well. Again, no offense is meant here. Just wanna propagate good and correct information for all!

      You are 100% correct! I have learned a lot since I made this video. I appreciate the insight and will certainly revisit it later to correct my error. Thanks!

      Does not really matter, not everybody is the same, not robots, just discontinue exercise if you feel discomfort, don't torture yourself and continue exercise exactly as it is written, it has no magic wand

      @@ForgottenFitness I get that, but no point sticking to a rigid 1970's form and having pain....don't torture the body because it might give you 1 inch edge in muscle. Make change, adapt, listen to ur body,

    Surprised I just seen this channel .great break down of the manual. Vince was ahead of his time and even these basic movements have a profound place in today's training.

    The renderings on the front of Vince’s booklets show Vince looking twice the size of his actual physique. I’ve always thought this a little deceptive. In photographs we see that Vince had a well proportioned body, one that I would be happy with, but he was not large.

    • @ForgottenFitness
      @ForgottenFitness  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was the marketing at the time. More of a caricature of Vince rather than a true-to-life depiction.

    There’s a definite before and after for Vince himself with the advent of steroids and IMO he didn’t have a good physique before. Not to say that his exercises don’t work, but he very much focused on specific body areas to give the illusion of a bigger frame and again, IMO, meant neglecting other areas which would have given him better all round size.

    It's very good. On one point though, the military or shoulder press; if one gets injured its prob due to teying too much weight too soon. I Don't know many lifters who've injured shoulders even in the behind the neck press.

    • @ForgottenFitness
      @ForgottenFitness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am just relaying the feelings of Vince Gironda. He regarded military press as being a relatively dangerous exercise for the shoulder joint. I don't necessary agree with that statement.

    I looked like this when I was 17 in 1971 , I prefer more reps 10 to 20 for benches I would warm up with 210 lbs then go to 225 for 25 reps never used steroids just hard continuous workouts ,6 days a week , lots of reps and correct form is the key to gaining size and strength ...

    The 8x8 has its place and gives results, thjough to work different fibers we must also do a range of reps from 8 to 20 as other bodyparts have a mix of fast twitch and slow twitch fibers, eg. chest is mostly fast twitch so 8-12 reps is ideal but lats is a mix of slow and fast so a range of 8-20 is ideal ie. 20/15/12/10/8 or vice versa if reverse pyramiding

    Thanks so much for this great video. I was trying to determine whether to use the 5x5 or the 6x6 program. I'll start with the 5x5 for a little while, just to be safe.
    My question is, though, is there a need to do light warm-ups for each exercise for that 5x5 round.
    Also, with the 5x5, is there still a 15-30 second rest between sets.
    Thanks for the hard work you're putting into these videos

    If I was to train like this, how would I effectively progressively overload the workout over time?

    • @ForgottenFitness

      Add reps first, then add weight. Vince details this in his book Unleashing the Wild Physique.

      Do a max lift once a week your strength will improve dramatically , benches,curls dead lifts , squats , power cleans ,snatches ...military press
