WOOOOAH MWC IS GETTING WATCHES FROM SEIKO?!?! Freaking SEIKO!!!! WOOOOAH! That is freaking amazing Russell!!!! And I absolutely love this watch. Very handsome timepiece. 😍😍 also I’m so glad you clarified the 5 distinctives of the Seiko 5. I only found that out recently. Great watch! Great review!
WG!!! Thanks for watching! This would look cool on your wrist!
You've *got* to get one of these, Britt! (But you might find your husband "borrowing" it more often than usual.)
they must do a Pogue reissue !
Might be a little bit harder to do that; they don't currently have a comparable automatic movement to the original, and even if they did, it would cost well over $1k. I don't think they have a suitable mecha-quartz movement on hand either.
@@waffle911yes an auto chronograph is quite expensive, maybe go solar for the new Pogue?
Im in!
They did release a revised version of the Pogue a few years ago....Seiko SSA331. Not the same but similar
YES!!! I would buy one 5 minutes ago!!
If they do it right, it’s an instant purchase for me. 😄👍♥️
Saw the review last nite & today...the date of the release...I was at the GS Boutique collecting my SBGV245 just back from polishing in Japan. Tried on the new 55th Anniversary & immediately bought it. This is the coolest Seiko 5 I've ever seen. Extremely comfortable too. Definitely a winner. If it wasn't for the review I would have missed it!
I love this! What a great reissue! They’ve nailed the look and it’s really exciting to imagine the potential of that case. Like you said, a Pogue reissue can’t be too far away, right 🙏 Even the packaging looks amazing too!
I think I’d prefer a modern clicky bezel to go with the updated movement but you can’t have it all.
What a great show 👏👏👏👏
Cheers Gareth! Only thing is I doubt it’ll be as good a value as this one!;)
I got one. The nice thing about the friction fit bezel and lack of chapter ring (polished rehaut) is that this is the first Seiko I’ve owned that doesn’t trigger my OCD. 😂
Been looking for a vintage Seiko ever since I visited a little vintage shop in Camden Market a while ago. They had a couple of Seiko King Quartz and few Seiko 5's from the 60's and 70's. Something about the design just appealed to me.
As soon as I saw this watch, I knew I needed to buy it, and buy it I shall...and probably the Pogue if it comes out next year.
I showed this to my wife now. She said she doesn’t quite like it because it looks like something an astronaut would wear. Made me want to buy it instantly 😂
She loves the Pogue?
As a Pogue owner, I love this….perfect size and shape. Great video as always.
I'm picking a pouge up this month and agree I love the retro look.
I tried it on my wrist last week. The case is lovely. I nearly bought it but ended up getting my second and so completing my seiko 5 sports peanuts collection.
love it ! hopefully more reissues come out like this one. true to the original design. 👍
Great watch and hopefully a start of reissue models. Thanks for your time and sharing this with us all.
I bought mine 2nd hand on eBay (never worn) for £300 and I couldn't be happier.
Most of my watches are chunky divers and this is a lovely change for me. Felt a bit small compared to my other watches at first but it's actually perfectly sized.
Love the bracelet as well but I ordered a milanese this evening to see how that looks.
Would love for them to do the pogue too.
5 sports speedtimer chrono from the 60's/70's would also be amazing
Ohhh! Great video. I've already pre-ordered the watch a few weeks ago. Had a message to say it will soon be on it's way. After seeing review, can't wait!
Love the watch. Love the video. Good balance between humor and info. I can see immediately you love what your are doing. Keep up the good work!
Great review Russ, definitely a stunner and it got your wifes seal of approval! I have been shying away from Seiko for sometime, but I might just add the SRPK17K1 to my collection.
I second your enthusiasm for this watch, with the lume glowing it looks super cool! TY
Mine arrived today and I finished adjusting the metal bracelet. It fits nice on my small wrist and feels comfortable. This is my second metal bracelet watch and my first series 5 Sports. My bezel is bi-directional unlike what Seiko USA says (uni-directional) in the specs. Love the groovy 60’s design and this watch is made in Japan. Cheers! 😊
This is a brilliant release. I have no complaints about this watch, but I do hope they spread the cost of redeveloping the case out by releasing a new limited edition of the blue version of the original. I don't know if you've seen it, but I really love that one. It's always a treat when your wife actually likes a watch too.
Sure it is, because when she dislikes it, you are off doing chores to get back into her favor (or sex, if you will).
If this one sells as fast as I believe it will, you can almost bet on their releasing one in blue (and maybe a few more colors at that).
😅😅
Awesomeness right there! Thanks for sharing!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
Only started watching your channel in the last couple of months as I have started collecting watches again, must say I love the enthusiasm and the down to earth approach. Just love Casio (got a couple I used to own as a teenager and love them to bits, AE1200 Royale is on the wrist right now) and Seiko, well always wanted one.....this video inspired me to get a SRPK17, been damn hard to find one though as they as I was a bit late to seeing this and they have understandably sold like "hot cakes". Found a new one from a US website SEIKO dealer, it's on it's way, should be getting it in the next couple of days.....exciting....thanks MWC 🙂👍
Obligatory bemoaning of the lack of sapphire.
Been waiting for a review of this one, thanks. Just ordered it coming tomorrow by 10.30am
Good show MWC.😊
HOPE your right about the pouge. My favourite Seiko ever, It sits proudly atop my entire collection. Don't wear it as much now as terrified of damaging the beauty.
I will hold out buying this new release just in case the Pouge comes to fruition.
I always wanted a Pogue, but this fits my black bezel/dial collection. I put down a preorder moments ago. Thank you for making me aware of this release!
I know!!!! I’m hoping it’s coming!
It’s in the mail! Any day now.
I’ve been waiting for this release! Thanks for the early review
The handset, bidirectional bezel movement, recessed crown and bracelet are fantastic
love re-issues, particularly when they are not tiny. This is a great size, not oversized by todays taste, or that 2010's fad, nor undersized by modern taste like many watches from pre-2000.
Great review. Just pre-ordered one. For anyone interested Arizona Fine Time is taking pre-orders. I only mention this because I was having a hard time finding a shop outside of the US still taking pre-orders.
Ah, so this IS it. Yea. I saw this on Seiko’s site about a month ago… still shopping through various shops online to get best deal for a pre-order. Definitely was instantly inspired to hunt for this one. My last Seiko was actually the equally retro Kamen Rider Seiko 5 anniversary model that came out earlier this year which revived a different 70s Seiko 5 model style (but not quite a true reissue).
Where have you found it available at the best price?
@@ohhenry2 the actual price that I’ve found hasn’t fluctuated (it sits around $400-415ish USD) so what I’ve been trying to shop around is shipping differences. I haven’t settled on a pick just yet.
@@Paperfiasco Same here: Sadly, Francis & Gaye doesn't ship to the States, but I've found two Stateside retailers taking preorders. Still checking for the best deal.
I like this a lot, I will definitely be looking to get one. Super video as ever.
OMG what a 'heads up'! Another super entertaining review - And I only just noticed - you call your video a 'show' - perfect! Generally, I'm not a Seiko 5 fan (except originals). I'm still hung up on the demise of the 200m specs, 'get over it' yes I am trying, and I have got a couple. But this is on another level! It's a REAL Seiko 5! Love it! Shall I / shan't I? I don't know, I'm trying to 'cut down' you see..(but just unboxed a new watch today).. BUT the prospect of a Pogue next year - I'm missing a good original and REALLY want this - if it happens - what foresight you have (I hope)!! Thanks again for the 'Show'! Best from Perth Australia!
Got mine, absolutely in love with it.
Just to say that I saw your Short on this watch last night and today I bought one!
Great video and good looking watch! Any official websites to preorder this in the US?
Awesome. I should get one since I was born in 68. Wearing my Seiko 5 field watch today. Great video as always.
The walking Dead!
How's that Popz. LoL!!
You are quite mad indeed, and I love it. I also love the watch. Subbed!
Ordered mine today after seeing your great review.
Excellent reissue by Seiko. I think when this watch is released officially it's going to fly off the shelves.
Had mine for 2 weeks, love it, I wish they would use the old style 5 badge on the newer 5s
Gonna have to keep an eye out, can't find any North American retailers listing pre-orders for it yet.
I live in China and I purchased mine last week from the Seiko flagship store for CNY 2450. About 266 GBP. I must say that it’s really a nice watch and in my opinion it’s worth the price.
Nice my friend!
Wow great looking piece , like you I enjoy vintage watches and seiko have done a great job
I ordered one from an AD, can’t wait to get it in hand. Just wondering what the secondary day wheel language will be.
Very nice I have to say! Oh I'm tempted to get this (if I can).
Russ, I love watching watch videos, and I am an insufferable Anglophile. So, I can’t help but smile as I watch your vids. And, of course, you have a perfect taste in watches, which is almost identical to mine! Thanks for the delightful diversion.
Thank you so much my friend! Means a lot!
The recessed crown was used for the original movement, ie. non-handwinding. How to wind it easily with the new 4R36 movement could be a challenge I think.
Shake it up
Solid review Russell. Looks to be a very good release by Seiko and lots to be said for it being such a wearable size
Cheers Nick!!
Ok i was waiting for this review
From you
Didn't disappointed!
Good move from Seiko, and an awesome video MWC as always, even better when the wife is pleased right 😅
Thank you my friend!
I can't wait to get my preorder! It was an instant get!
That is an absolute peach of a watch! Makes me want to climb into a racing car and race Jackie Stewart around Monaco! Much prefer the old Seiiko 5 logo too! Love everything about this piece ❤❤
"It's a great, great day for motorcar racing, Jackie."
Finally! What we've all been waiting for Seiko to do! 😍
Preordered mine, can't wait for it to ship!
Waited for this review!
Received mine two days ago ,tried to buy an original scratched 1968 version of ebay!! Glad I waited, absolutely fantastic re-model,can't stop looking at it and £350 bargain.
Yes!!!!!
I have a few seiko 5 1973 actus ss 23 j Green shutter effect dial very rare in mint condition great review
Blue is my favorite color and this new seiko 5 will be great in royal blue or blue navy dial.
Best Seiko I've seen in decades. Great video Russ, thanks a bunch!!!!!!
I know!! Maybe 5 decades?;)Thank you my friend!
Mine arrived this morning and is actually the first Seiko i've ever owned. It's a lovely piece and even the wife likes it!
Wow!! Well congrats my friend!
Is the SAT on the day wheel blue? It would match with the SPORT text if it is.
Speaking of price increases and SKX clones, I wonder what your thoughts are on the SSK GMTs? More features but for £400 rrp I found it a bit too pricey.
That being said i got mine for 40% off at Black Friday so I bit the bullet and I'm pretty chuffed!
could you please tell us what watch were you wearing, that teal color looks very nice
Love it, I'd even put up with the errhummm nasty pressed clasp. Just a fabulous looking watch.
Thanks my friend!
Just saw recently. Beautiful watch.
Cracking video, lovely to see unbridled enthousiasm. Where you and I clash over the re-purposed SKX, we now clash over shrouded lugs. I just can't deal with them. :) Which is a shame, because otherwise this is a lovely watch. For sure, it begs for a sapphire modification, but apart from that it's beautiful.
Sadly, I won't wear it if I buy it. Shrouded lugs, you see.
Cheers Chris!!!
Good video bro👍👍👍from Singapore.
I’d definitely buy a pogue I have a 73’ pogue chrono would love a modern one.
Bugger! Just when I was about to pull the trigger on a W10 vintage pilot watch… you had to show me this! I’ve been on the look out for a watch that was popular in the year I was born (1969) or there abouts… and this might be near enough. And the fact it has an anniversary this year might just push me over. I’m not usually a fan of this clickety-click sub dial, but this looks so gorgeously vintage, I think I could be persuaded on that point too!
It’s all your fault #madwatchcollector - thanks to you my g-shock habit is quite bad/good. And now there’s this puppy!
AAAAND… you drop in the idea of that 1969 model that may or may not be on the way next year!
Gonna need another watch box!! 😂
Russ, can u do huge favor - how wide is the dial/crystal?
Received mine today , awesome watch ❤
Absolutely love this watch!!!!
Seiko, JUST TAKE MY MONEY!
Great review as usual.
I like that, Russ. Looks super!
All the best. 👍🏾🇬🇧
Thanks man!
Please Seiko reissue the Pogue ! I was in my early teens when I cast my first glance at that watch and I’ve never got it out of my thoughts. Great review of the S5
This channel deserves 100k subscribers.
More than the watch I liked the way you presented it in the video. Very infotainment! The watch also is good better than the smart watches. Keep making the awesome videos. Love from India.
Want one! Need one! This will sit perfectly with my SNKP23 in my selection of Seiko’s. Thanks Russ, cheers.
Thanks my friend!
I have the same model, beautiful watch
I just picked up a new Seiko 5 (SRPD93) yesterday. I’m sure it’ll be the first of many, as it looks like your video might inspire another purchase 😂
Nice!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I should add that it was $175 USD in the states at Costco. I know the Seiko 5 sport line divided the collecting community, but at that price I couldn’t pass up.
Costco also had the Seiko Tank in gold and a Hamilton field. Impressive/surprisingly good selection, imo!
Seiko really did it right this time! My only complaint is the glass, I want sapphire so I don’t scratch it
Thanks my friend!
Wow, I already wanted one, but what the wife said!
Well done MWC.
Give us a new Pogue please Seiko.
It's a winner ! Fantastic review bro !
I’m glad Seiko went back to their old logo on the Seiko 5
Very subjective my friend. For me, historical meaning, brand I love, case design from an era I love it is
Perfect the best thing is it is my 55 anniversary coming up and it looks like I'm treating myself with that one
This is perfect!!
That was such an enjoyable entertaining video. I love the watch & I will try that tactic on my Wife. 😀
Couldn't resist, ordered!
Yes!!!!
I love that retro vibe !! Stunning piece! 😍😍
And not Tooo expensive??
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Even better! 🤩
I'd maybe prefer to see the pogue reissue... This one is cute and I love the old school retro vibe but the specs don't quite line up with the price tag. A few bucks more and sitting the price profile of the Oris Chronoris (second-hand market, mind you) and that has all the vibe, style, provenance, and performance you'd expect from a proper Swiss watchmaker. Throw a Forstner komfit style bracelet on it and you've actually got something very, very sweet on your wrist. I love the idea of the 5s but in the end they always fall a little short for me.
Nice looking watch and definite recraft vibes, still think it’s a little pricey though, Also have you seen the new timex 1972 reissue!!! If they do reissue the pogue let’s hope that’s not a limited edition and a reasonable price ! Hahah !!
Lovely piece of retro goodness , had to get one
Yes Josh!!!!!
Heh, I'm starting to get used to your goofy cutaways :) Great review by the way
The moment I first saw this watch I thought I had to order it, as it's going to sell out really quickly. I really like the vintage design, hopefully I'll like it in person too :)
About the seiko "pogue": That will sell out in 5 mins, that's for sure. If they keep the size/dimension that will be on my must buy list 100% percent. However as others have pointed out, Seiko currently doesn't have a caliber that's even remotely similar, and we'll have to wait and see if there will be some tricks they can do (use a different caliber and hide sub dials, etc) to make it happen.
1968 what a year, i was born in 68... what a beauty again a Real mad review. Seiko IS definitely one of y favourite big brand!!! i want one... 😂😂😂
What a year indeed then my friend!!!!
Love the watch, love the review!!! Must have a Pogue!!!!
I just bought mine and it’s an amazing watch! 😍
Niiice. Love the bracelet. And the wife likes it? Nearly spat me coffee out! 😮
I agree with the Trouble and Strife.
Cant wait to get mine
Hey, MWC. Could you please review the Invicta Pro Diver 30807? I Just got it first 80 CAD and I think it rivals the Casio duro!😮
hello i dont know if you still read this, but how is this watch compare to the also limited SRPJ79K1 ?
Hello my friend! You’re talking about a watch with an SKX case decorated to look nice. This is an exclusive case, bracelet and dial. They’ve made one of these commemorating the 55th anniversary of the 1st Seiko Sports that looked exactly like this. Now the movement is the same but this one is special my friend
Good looking watch! Great review! Like this as much, or even more, than the Pogue.
Kees!!!!! What a 2 watch collection that would be though!
What a nice looking watch. Beautiful vintage vibes.
Wonderfully vintage! Jacuzzi vibes indeed!
Love it. Awesome
