I have a bone to pick with you Mad Watch Collector man. A few years ago I had about 4 watches but because of you and your wonderful silly videos I now have 24 watches, of which 16 or so are Casio. Thanks. ;-)
Glad you reviewed this one. As much as I sometimes tire of Seikos endless limited editions, this one is absolutely fantastic in my eyes, which is why I bought one on release last December. The anti reflective coating is the best I've ever experienced highlighting that amazing dial and indices. I love the details like the silver date wheel background. It just feels so special. I highly recommend. I can't keep it off my wrist even after 9 months
I bought this watch last year when it launched but was puzzled that not many people reviewed it, or let alone were aware of it. The anti-reflecting coating on the inside is pristine and the weight, feel and polishing of the titanium is mesmerizing. It is indeed one of the more affordable 8L movements and I think it's a great value purchase. The landmaster series is like an unsung hero within the Seiko lineup. I'm glad to see one of my most-watched watch youtubers (pun intended) review and love this watch. Finally got validation for my purchase, albeit a little delayed.
Love the Landmasters, great pick Russ! If the old ones had automatic movements instead of kinetics I'm sure they would be more highly regarded by collectors today. While you're absolutely right to call out the issues with kinetics, I would add that you can get watch winders that spin fast enough to charge them, meaning that even if they're worn sparsely a quick spin every other week will keep the battery from degrading. Personally I have an SBDW005 that I absolutely love, and I would recommend them to anyone who likes tool watches, especially since many can be bought from Japan for well under £500!
Get it mate - you deserve it!! Love that you start the year talking about reducing the collection, then add multiple big pieces along with many more general additions! It’s good to know I’m not alone! 😂
You not alone haha, some how I find my new precious source of used watches and I bought more than 20 this year when in beginning of year I promise to my self that enought, time to go clubbing, drinking and travel and I finish with adding so many watches and zero beers.
Just had my love at first sight when my Hamilton Ventura automatic arrived from Japan. Somehow Seiko manages to make their fairly affordable watches to look much nicer than their grand seiko’s
I have this piece as well, number 3XX, unbelievable finishing , 8L movement , crazy detail dial and indicators, and the glass coating is insanely well. Finally, finally , a TH-camr have good taste of watches
When I’m ever on the edge of deciding whether to buy a watch or not I always hear in my head the “YYYYEEEESSSSSS” and now my bank account is that much less. Thank you MWC. I regret nothing and love every one one of my watches like they are my children. “Life is too short to wear a cheap watch”
That’s such a great looking watch! I’m not really into titanium or plain metal bezels but this is a proper STUN-AAAHHH! It’s not in my price range unfortunately but it’s hard to argue with looks as good as that! Awesome show as always MWC!
Because of you, when I look at one of my watches on my wrist, and I love it, I scream dial time, in the same tone that you scream it. My wife always looks at me like she's reevaluating her decisions concerning me.
Not normally a SEIKO fan yet I do like this! You also mentioned to me in a previous video comments that I should look at Longines as a next step up from my PRX, well I did and now own a 41mm Conquest sunray
That was funny. The silencer on. I had to chuckle. Congratulations on your new watch. I opted for the SJE099 marinemaster myself because, well, it's smaller. But very similar set of reasons there. That said, the Marinemaster in 38,5mm is made of steel, so it's proportions vs material. That being said, if they start cranking out SLA and SJE based watches with the 6L series movements, they will all get smaller and thinner, as there's a bit of difference between a 3,7mm 6L and a 5,5mm 8L movement.
Great looking seiko, I have the LX land master blacked out version, and it’s really one of my favourites in the collection. Can’t be a high end seiko as long as it’s at the right price.
I owned this briefly. Have two other SLAs I love, but I didn’t enjoy the friction bezel, the dial looks much more dynamic in pictures than real life (it’s quite a muted blue), and the titanium scratches rather easily. My own favorite dial remains the SLA063 (only 500 made). The 8R movement completely justifies the price in my opinion, especially because you can get good deals on these high end Seikos used.
Just seen this watch today. Omg! this was my reaction! After I was close to buy the BB54 but did not like it in real life. This one in real life looks way but way better. Watch an watch, crazy attention to details!
Don't listen to this guy, just listen to the section in his videos which states" what the wife said", she has better taste than him and describes the watch in question within 10 seconds 😂😂
🤔 from 100 to 5500! That's what I paid for my Seiko LX Spring Drive GMT in Titanium. Anyhow, as always, great review. You handle one of my favorite channel. Cheers from Italy
Very interesting review. I’m not a titanium fan at all but would definitely like to check one out . Just last week I added the SLA047 MM300 . I’d have to say that to me the MM300 is the very best watch Seiko makes . This however is an amazing 🤩 Seiko watch 👍🏻💯
No capacitors in Kinetic watches any more, they replaced them with rechargable batteries many years ago. As long as you wear it once or twice a month they are fine.
Great review as usual. The dominance of the bezel kills it for me though. Have you looked at the Seiko Prospex Solar Blue Diver Watch SNE593P1 ? Now that's a gorgeous watch. :)
The dial looks VERY similar to the new Citizen Forza chrono. I too like the looks and size, it's a tool NQAI. I will say that the 12 indice looks like the Tudor logo. Kudos on the choice of 8L movement. The case looks like Citizen Super-Titanium finishing, the bracelet, not so much but still wicked.
I have the SLA071 too and I love it. I also have the automatic titanium 10th Anniversary Landmaster with its nicely styled and polished Marine Master like case. Only 500 of those were made. 👍👍
Well first off my Seiko sharp edge has the 6r 54 a movement and that my friend does beat at 288 bpm. And as far as Seiko kinetic is concerned I have one of those watches for 16 years now. Never serviced and it's still working to this day. Just pick it up shake it and the hands come right back to life to the right time.
[emits long, low whistle] Well, that Seiko *is* mighty impressive, but not entirely my cuppa. However, I DO love that MarineMaster clasp-so much so that I went to the trouble of tracking down a source for that clasp and buying it to replace the original clasp on my SSK003 GMT. Takes the already-damn-good wearing experience of the watch up that extra notch, and, speaking of notches, the diver's extension *does* come in handy for the hotter months (like right now), when my wrist expands in girth: quick bracelet expansion on-the-fly, without dealing with extra buttons. One of the coolest Seiko innovations next to no one talks about. (Oh, my advice on you buying the Landmaster? Use the silencer.)
Great looking watch. Well made, but I would prefer a minute timer. Seiko has make great titanium watches for a long time. The ti samurai, or early Shogun are outstanding watches. Seiko does titanium!!!! Sarx057, GS at seiko price. The 8l35 is a great movement. Worth the extra cash. Love the wife's comments😂. But......the best Seiko your ever reviewed is...... The sla055❤
I love Seiko, there are so many JDM models that can be picked up on Japanese websites in Yen. I got a beautiful watch for my birthday, it's solar quartz, titanium, sapphire crystal, about 39mm, and radio controlled. it's total precision and the black dial with all the time zones is so cool to me. check it out the SBTM 291 so clean. I do love titanium for everday wear and while some people hate quartz, there is no better grab and go watch (to me)
Oh great piece that. What's the strap/bracelet like? Feel that's sometimes what let's down the more affordable Seikos. Which is completely understandable
I have a kinetic sun045 gmt Seiko diver that i bought in 2016. I only wear it maybe once every three months and it still works great. I think the later Seiko kinetics like this one don't have a capacitor but a rechargeable battery in it...
A true stunner and goes some way to justifying the price increases on Seiko's. Although it looks like a character called "Brains" from Transformers is missing an eyeball.

Nice watch, but Citizen made a lot of titanium watches with the same or better level of finishing. The dial is amazing indeed, but you need to see and handle Citizen NB1060-12L with a handmade Lacquer dial in blue. Amazing review for an amazing watch nonetheless.
This watch is amazing. That said, serious question, are you a fan of 'The Fast Show'? Cause there's a character on the show that has your exact energy and I'm curious if that might've been an inspiration for you.

I’m not sure about Seiko friction bezels but I know that Vostok uses them and they come off easily.
Just looking at it on the seiko site , apparently limited edition 1000 units made .
It is a cool looking watch.

Its nice russ , but I love my sla043 more . The blue dial on the 043 is as good as it gets. Of course you needed over 4k to get one new.
