Jayda, I absolutely love your joy and enthusiasm while teaching us these patterns. Please keep up the great work. I have learned so much from you.Thank you so very much.
Jayda, you are a terrific teacher! My grandson EJ was born with HLHS, which is Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome. The left side of his heart didn't grow in utero. My daughter June, enlisted me to crochet baby blankets for other moms and babies that are born with heart problems. So far we have donated close to 20 blankets. Now that I know how easy this stitch is to do, and also works up so quickly, I'll be making many more blankets to be given to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, aka C.H.O.P.. Thank you very much for being the caring teacher you are.
Hi Judi, thank you so much for watching and writing :) That is a wonderful thing to do! A little warm, comforting and thoughtful gift like a baby blanket can make a terribly upsetting situation seem a little less awful, especially in the clinical environment of a hospital.
I'm new to crochet, just started a week ago, watched several people on youtube to help get started learning the different stitches, but you are my favorite crochet teacher by far. You explain so well and don't rush - hands down my favorite go to channel for projects now! There's so much I want to make and you make it fun to learn!
You are the absolute best teacher! Your directions are clear, concise and easy to understand. I made these blankets last year and making more this year. I taught myself to crochet through TH-cam videos and you are the best! Thank you!
I had started and frogged 6 different ripple stitch projects and had almost given up when I saw yours. THANK YOU...you are a godsend, I got it and lawdy it actually makes sense! Your my superhero for the month!
I watched another lady, on TH-cam. She was demonstrating on how to do the chevron blanket. She explained the dc3tog (3 double crochets together), but she didn't explained it step by step on how to do (the) stitch(es). I have been crocheting for several years. When I watched your videos, I feel that you're explaining thing(s) w/out being condescending. Thank you.
I look forward to all of Jayda's videos. When I see one up, I get so excited. When I need a Jayda fix I will watch any of her old videos. I've been watching her for years, but I still see videos I've never seen or don't remember seeing. She is a good teacher of crochet.
I like how you taught this pattern its easy to understand, I have done other different zig zag blankets. I like how solid the crochet is with this one.
I gave up on crocheting...till I watched your videos!!! So I'm back, re watching your videos to make her one as a blanket for her bed, I've actually made several of your blankets for family and friends, thank you so much!
Ok. I am 64 years old and have been crocheting since I was a teen. You are super fluid in your style. I love that. In fact, you have inspired me with this pattern. I live in Alabama and am a fan of the University of Alabama ( Roll Tide), so the colors are perfect. I'm making this one for my niece in law. I'm excited!
Hi Autumn, you can make this blanket as tall, short, wide or thin as you like - the pattern remains the same, just your stitch and row count change. :)
Jayda! I love the way you teach from the moment you begin. You tell the size hook for the size project and explain the "why". I always recommend your channel. I have learned to make the purple dishcloth and from that I expanded into a few double strand bath mats. Recently I made the baby lace fan stitch baby blanket in traditional stash busting pastels. Each of my adult children like the large Santa pillow. I have made ghosties and candy corn! Thank you so much! Oh and I went to my first college town yarn store and felt some of the same thrills you showed when you went on your excursion!
I finally found. Someone who actually doesn’t skip a step her real there n is easy to follow thank you for havin the patience to b so explanatory! And yes I’m excited to try this
Hello from Houston Texas.....I just started crocheting and I made the leaf falling fingerless gloves for all of my nieces for christmas....your instructions were so easy to follow ....so for next year I am going to try your chevron blanket .i have already done foundation and 4 rows and find it so easy to follow your instructions....again thank you so much for your tutorials.....keep them coming......Texas
I know you uploaded this video 5 years ago but,I just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful and easy to follow tutorial! I just started this and I’m doing it in rainbow colours and in the back loops only for a nice ribbed effect. Thank you so much for all the time you and Mr.Institches put into your work. 😀
I want to thank you for this out of thousands of videos this was the easiest !! The clearest you didn't skip anything and you are very well educated teach well so thank you xo I taught myself just from TH-cam 2 years now and you were one of my mentors xo

Thank God I found this tutorial of a chevron stitch. I have spent a week now trying to crochet the Chevron watching various tutorials and frogged them all. Was looking for something else to crochet and stumbled on yours. 🙏
Oh my gosh Jayda... As usual YOUR tutorial of the classic Chevron blanket is the ONLY Chevron tutorial I've had success following! I may ACTUALLY be able to DO THIS!!! ❤️ Thank you! Every time I hear the pattern description as "valley" or "mountain" I think of myself as the "Little Engine that Could".
Hi Pam, I love that!! "I think I can, I think I can" Ohmygosh that's one of my favourite childhood tales :) And so fitting to crochet! Thank you for watching :)
Thank you. I will give this try. I hadn't heard of a 3 stitches worked together before. So I'm excited that I learned something new. You are so pleasantly happy. You remind me of a happy pixie that wants to bring joy, fun & creativity to the world. Thank you for this. From Kalamazoo, Michigan
I also live in canada, in ottawa and I plan on making a blanket with this chevron pattern. you make it easy for someone to follow as you instruct efficiently. Your peppy and upbeat attitude is a grrat way of getting people into it..thank you
I love your energy! You make me excited to crochet. I was struggling with this patter. You simplified and I am finally crocheting my first wave afghan. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
I can do this! Very good tutorial... Thanks! My grandson, Michael, who turned twenty yesterday, wants a medium purple and grey blanket. This pattern will be perfect for him. I love how easy it is...and I plan to do the “five” thung. It looks terrific... Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I’ve made a white, teal and blue version as a Christmas present for 2024! I love it and planning my next one for myself ❤❤❤
Thank you Jayda .i was waiting to learn crochet to make a afghan. Your video is so good I could follow it very easily . Your way of explaining is amazing.
Jayda, I just love your enthusiasm in this video! You made me wanna really learn the Chevron stitch pattern!! ❤ Thank you for the lessons. Other videos show this but they go too fast and are not as enthusiastic as you are so I kept your video for reference! ❤👍🏻
I’m a beginner at crochet and when I’ve seen the zig zag pattern I felt I’d never be able to do it but your video and explanation is excellent and I’m going to give it a try thank you 😘
I just wanted to say that you have such a wonderful & beautiful soul. I enjoy watching your videos so much. If I'm having a bad day, I just go to one of your videos & my day just seems to be better. Thank you Ms. Jada!
I have made 8 of these afghans, some for babies, some for friends. The tutorial is the EASIEST one ever and I love this pattern. Thank you SO much! You rock, Jayda!
Audra Harris I agree... Jayda”s verdin is truly the easiest to follow... I like it, and intend to use it on a baby/toddler blanket ... using Liin Brand’s Soarkle.
I have tried to do this wave/ripple/zig zag pattern so many times and never understood it but your way makes sence I have to try to make this blanket one more time =) thanks for this tutorial
crystal morrison Hi Crystal! There are, in fact, many versions of the Chevron and I have found this version to be the easiest and most 'solid' looking. I really love working this pattern, it's easy and fun and because it's double crochet, it works up SO fast...great stash buster if you don't want to plan the colours, and just stunning if you do it in really contrasting colours :)
Wonderful tutorial with easy to understand explanations that made everything just "click" for me. Thanks to your video I made my first ever baby blanket for my daughter. I worked on it on and off for months through the tumultuous end to a high risk pregnancy and for months while she recovered in NICU. Thanks to you I had something to keep my heart and hands occupied through a difficult time. God bless!
You make it look and sound so simple. Then when I tried it actually WAS so simple. Thank you! I'm making myself a shawl (or blanket) for those extra cold days.
This is the BEST tutorial on here! I only knew how to do basic crochet and I learned how to do this blanket in a few hours! You explained everything so perfectly and at a great pace! I’ve been wanting to learn how to make Afghans like my great grandmother since I was a little girl (now 28) and thanks to you I can! And I can surprise my mother and my grandmother with Afghans like my Grammy used to make. I can’t thank you enough!
Hi Lin! Thank you for watching :) I'm not sure if many of my fellow Canadians get *this* excited about making blankets, but I do know that most of us get pretty excited about our long weekends LOL!
Love love love, how you teach! Your the person I learnt from. I started off with you shell blanket then I did the star and now I can follow most videos, however I need to learn to read a pattern.... thank you from the bottom of my heart ❣Gods blessings to you and yours 🙏💕💞
Hi Barbara,Thank you for watching :) If you pop over to our website and print off the patterns we have on the Pattern Workshop page, you can follow along with the tutorials for nearly all of them, we feel it helps go a long way to learning how to read patterns :)
I have started this ripple afgan . I love it . I have gotten mixed up and had to unravel three times and start over. I love it and you are a good teacher
Thank you - I was having a "down day" and found your video - you have made me smile and I will be going thru my stash to begin afghans for grandchildren!!!! Love your attitude and will be back!
Your enthusiasm is appreciated. Your lesson simple and easy to follow. I have made a few blankets in this pattern. Keep up the positive attitude!! You're one of the best crochet teachers.
Thanks! I needed a refresher on this stitch...It has been like 20 years since I made a blanket and I am so excited to have found your videos and to have started crocheting once AGAIN!!!
thank you for being so helpful and staying with the crochet for 2 times , it was a big help, and my end stitches came out right. . you derserve a clap, and im clapping and clapping to you. I liked your attitude, made me smile and grin.. and again thank you so much.
My problem with crocheting is tension in keeping whatever I stitch even, which is why I have decided to make this Afghan hoping I can make it look even. You are so patient in doing these tutorials! You are a wonderful teacher,
Hi Sofia! Tension is something that evens out over time, so don't stress it too much :) Even in the same blanket project you might see your tension change from tight to looser, or loose to tighter - this has a lot to do with your comfort with the pattern (it often evens out as you work more of the blanket pattern) and tension can be affected by your physical comfort levels too! Are you cold, warm, tense, happy, irritated? Sometimes it helps to have a little "nothing" project nearby that you can work a few stitches on to warm up before you head to your real project :)
Hi Everyone! I accidentally said "single crochet" at the beginning of Row 2, I meant DOUBLE CROCHET! Sorry for any confusion!! :)
Hi. I love your videos. How many chains do i make for a scarf to start with please? Zig zag of course. Many thanks
@@maryrobins8246Multiple of 14, then add 4. 14, 28, 42. then add 4 to make it 18, 32, 46. I GOT IT!!! So excited!

If I add another count of 14, will it screw up the count?
Julie Garcia , you can use as many counts of 14 as you want, Just do the same thing on each 14. Right @Jaydainstitches?

Audra Harris I agree... Jayda”s verdin is truly the easiest to follow... I like it, and intend to use it on a baby/toddler blanket ... using Liin Brand’s Soarkle.
You are absolutely right. I love the way Jayda breaks her instructions down to the easiest to understand explanation. She is very empowering..

Hi Charlene! Thank you so much for watching :)
God bless!
Hi! We're very happy to hear that everything worked out for you and your young family :) Thank you for watching!

Happy New Year! Thank you for watching Alexa, we hope you have fun making your blankets!

Hi Lin! Thank you for watching :) I'm not sure if many of my fellow Canadians get *this* excited about making blankets, but I do know that most of us get pretty excited about our long weekends LOL!

Hi Pauline, we're so pleased you enjoyed our tutorial :) Thank you for watching!
