Hi it's me again. just finished my 4th hexagon blanket from one of your amazing tutorials. - for this one, where can I find the materials list? yarn used, needle size and how much yarn I will need. Please and thank you!
The yarn I used for the sample was “I love this cotton yarn” (weight 4 cotton yarn) and a 4mm hook. I believe the hook requirement for this yarn is 4-5mm. I can’t say how much yarn you’ll need since this was just a tutorial to teach the stitch as a stash buster project . I didn’t make a blanket. ❤️
greaet tutorial thanks. There is a pattern like this but with a row or granny squares in the middle how would you do that. Could you do a video on that
It’s pretty easy to add a row of granny squares if you add the straight edge that I show towards the end of the video . After you straighten your edge you can add granny squares as you normally would 💕
That always looks great, yes! You would make your granny squares and then fit them into the valleys of your blanket. Make your granny square with as many rounds as it needs to fit that valley area. You could either do a join as you go technique or a seamless one after the square is done. My favorite is the seamless join. You can find that here: th-cam.com/video/x-3Ijs9Wm58/w-d-xo.html
This is a cotton yarn that I got at hobby lobby (brand : I love this cotton yarn) This cotton is quite soft so it would be good for a baby but acrylic would be as well since it’s soft and not usually an allergen risk. 🧶💕
I’m on the end of row 3 and not sure how to finish the row. Could you please let me know the correct ending for eg Row 3 & .4 and thereafter should be the same. Appreciate your prompt reply. Thankyou.
You’re just going to keep repeating /re watching what you did for row 2 . So you’ll end each row with a double crochet and start a new row with a chain 3. 🧶💕
It all depends on the size yarn you get. The label will tell you which size hook to use. This one in the video was a worsted weight yarn (weight 4) and I used a 4 mm with it but I think s 5 mm works well with it too. Hope that helps
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you so much, I would love to have a written pattern. I’m getting yarns ready to try it. It is beautiful and I love the granny square.
I don’t recall since it was just a small sample. I show you in depth how to figure out your chain count based on the size you want to make . Please watch the beginning of the video to see how to do it. If you want more info On how to figure out chain counts, watch this video: th-cam.com/video/SJIZYtxWRRU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UP74sJGTCpwfAu18
Based on the yarn and hook I used for this sample (weight 4 with a 4mm hook) i would suggest 150 chains + 3 at the end for your turning chain (153 chains total) This will get you close to a 36x36 inch baby blanket . It will be slightly smaller due to the shrinking from the ripple but only by a couple of inches. If this concerns you, add another 25 to the chain above. Also this will vary depend on the yarn you decide to use and what size baby blanket you want to make . 💕🧶
I don’t know how to answer that. I don’t know how big you want to make your blanket. Use the multiple I shared in the video to chain to the size blanket you want to make 👍🏻💕
Your video is so clear and I wrote down the instructions step by step. I' m not getting it right though. My math isn't adding up rigt to line up the stitches accurately. The first peak and valley end up on stitch 27. So the next 27th stitch ends up being more that two stitches past the next 25 stitch marker. Are you seeing my issue? Please advise? I need help. :( Thank you so much.
Hm that’s weird … it’s really hard for me to say what you’re doing that is making you go over on stitches since it’s matching for the first set of 25. Maybe work on a smaller sample to see if it lines up?
My math really stinks, no, I mean I failed a remedial math class in the 9th grade and learned to count with my toes. When you say "multiples of 25" does that mean that I can do 25 + 3 for as long as I need to? I'm 66 and it's not any better.
Hi - not exactly . Just work in 25 chain batches and then at the very end add 3 more . That’s what you’ll use to help you “turn” and start working. For example, I worked 3 points for the tutorial. So I did 3 batches of 25 which was 75 chains total. When I got to the end, I added 3 more to help me turn. So My initial chain was 78 total. 👍🏻💕
I used to be able to make this design with my eyes closed, for some reason it's not turning out as it should I'm doing everything correctly but the peaks just gets higherbut not longer 🤔
I shared tutorials for both scenarios you’ll encounter on the edges. “Sides” and “Valleys “. Notice that you just have “valleys” to fill on the starting edge so follow that portion of the tutorial.
Thanks for the tutorial. Just a minor point: background music makes hearing much harder for those of us who suffer from a degree of deafness and use hearing aids. It’s distracting, and I would find it much easier to hear your commentary without it.
Thanks for the feedback - you’re the first to comment that the video was too fast but I’ll keep it in mind. Don’t forget you can change the speed of the video and slow it down 👍🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe I noticed as I read through the comments that I was the only one so I guess I'm still concidered a beginner. I saw to s of comments that said, beginner friendly, maybe im slow.. Is there a written pattern for this ?
This is a classic stitch so I’m sure you can find it somewhere but I haven’t written a pattern for it .
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you!
I used to be able to make this design with my eyes closed, for some reason it's not turning out as it should I'm doing everything correctly but the peaks just gets higherbut not longer 🤔
Oh boy, I’m sorry about that. I’m not sure why that is happening to you. 🧶❤️
@@PlayHookywithMe so far the double crochet zig zag is behaving working nicely
Have made this before.
How to straighten the the starting of the project..??? U showed straightening the ending of the project but not the beginning
I shared tutorials for both scenarios you’ll encounter on the edges. “Sides” and “Valleys “. Notice that you just have “valleys” to fill on the starting edge so follow that portion of the tutorial.
😍💗💗💗💗🌹
Thanks for the tutorial. Just a minor point: background music makes hearing much harder for those of us who suffer from a degree of deafness and use hearing aids. It’s distracting, and I would find it much easier to hear your commentary without it.
So easy until it ISNT🥴 not a beginner here but you worked way to fast . Maybe this is for advanced. Love the cluster granny tho❤
I only watched it , I didn't work with yarn so maybe when I do that it'll seem less whatever it is I'm trying to say,lol... I'm working on a regular continous granny right now. I hope to come back and say, what was I talking about, easy breezy, lol... God Bless You 😊
You can slow it down yourself
