    The FLEX is incredible everyone!! I bought both the FLEX and the original simultaneously to try, and they really serve two completely different purposes. Original is for no-coverage just spf days and the FLEX is truly a SPF and makeup in one. I’m returning the original (no need to spend that much just on spf, I’ll use eltaMD for that, better bang for your buck) and keeping the FLEX. Also a tip - the bottle instructs to blend it in your hand before applying and I think that helps ensure the color beads are fully activated to avoid it ending up too white on the skin.

      does it have niacinamide as one of the ingredients? I have sensitive skin and my skin doesn't do well with niacinamide :(

    • @reneer33
      @reneer33 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@enidhutchinson ah, yes it does contain niacinamide, sorry :/
      My runner up choice of spf/coverage was the Supergoop CC Screen - SPF 50. Same price point (price per oz), great spf and makeup coverage, and no niacinamide. They also have a decent shade range. If FLEX hadn’t launched I would have stuck with that one after trying MANY. May want to try that one, however I find that many either love or hate it.. it can tend to be cakey but I found putting moisturizer and even an oil under it helps with the texture. I purchased with Amazon Prime so I could return if I didn’t like it.

      @@enidhutchinson Sensitive skin person here! The only mineral SPF my skin likes, that wears well with makeup and doesn't have Niacinamide is the TIZO Primer/Sunscreen. It comes in tinted and non-tinted. My only word of caution is that it won't layer nicely with a moisturizer that contains a lot of silicones.

    FINALLY - I get to see what the light shade of flex looks like. So happy you did this comparison. Ive been using the original for years and thought Id want to try the light shade. However, it looks lighter than the classic. I'll just stick to the original. Thanks so much for the comparisons and saving me the trouble of making a decision.

    Regarding the lack of shades for super light and dark skin, this is not a foundation. Its a sunscreen and the only brand that even offers more than one shade so they should be commended for that, not criticized.

      Idk, maybe their swatches are off bc the light looked pretty darn light on her skin in the video. I bought their bronze face shield and let me tell you those swatches were sooo off on their website. But I was thinking the same thing when I saw the swatches. It could also be that on the deeper models their skin tones are showing through making it look darker

    I recently purchased the Flex in fair and the matte. I am a regular user of the original version that I sometimes mix w/a tiny bit of Bronze. I think the Flex runs very warm, as does the matte. The matte to me looks very similar to the medium shade of the Flex, but ever so slightly less warm. I personally have combo skin and live in a dry climate, so I hope to use the combo of Flex and Matte (t-zone area) in the warmer months and will go back to the original when it is cooler. HTH

    I'll def be buying the Flex b/c I love an SPF 50, the demi-matte finish (NO radiance for me!!) and the tint. While the Fair shade would probably work better for my pale skin, I'm tempted to try the Medium so I can have just a bit of color for a change. I absolutely want to see a review of the Matte option - I wonder if it's truly matte. Like so many matte primers I try, they are NOT matte!! Anyway, your puppy is so adorable!! Diane, I purchased the Flex in both Fair & Medium. The medium was too dark for me, but you can mix it with the others. My rotation right now includes the Colorescience Classic & the Flex in fair … then I sometimes mix them with a drop of Flex in medium or the Glow depending on the day. I love the finish of the Flex!!! So pretty. 😎❤️☀️ I agree with Abbey, the Classic is more hydrating. So you might get both the fair & medium in the Flex formulation & mix them to find your shade.
      Also, I’ve used the Colorescience brush on powder over the sunscreen, but I really don’t like their brush applicator. So I opened it & poured the powder in a clean dark RX bottle & carry it with me & use a small blush brush for application. 😂

      I don’t find any of Elta MD’s products to provide any (or at most, much) makeup coverage. The FLEX provides an arguably solid medium coverage with just one coat. I use Elta MD (UV Physical) on the days I don’t go out and don’t need any makeup coverage since you get more for your money.

    Have you not tried the IT Cosmetics cc cream? Its a 50 spf physical sunscreen and tint makeup and looks flawless. Also Trinny London does her BFF and her new more matte version and its spf tint and has the microsphere bursting technology. Ive used this tech since 2013 or so in my Nuganic cc cream spf....now I use IT Cosmetics and Trinny London

    The coverage the Flex supplied when you put it on sold me; I love the original, but with the Flex, I can go without makeup on top of my spf, and 2 layers should be plenty for me; I am inside all day. Thank you, another great video. BTW, I was somehow unsubscribed; so I redid that as well.

    I bought the flex in fair and not sure how I feel about it yet. May be slightly lighter than I want but worried the medium would be too dark and warm for me. The original colorscience may match me better since I'm more cool toned. Wish they'd reformulated the original to be PA++++ though.

    Ohhh love this review! I bought both the matte and flex in fair a couple weeks ago. I haven’t tried the flex yet but the matte is very orange on me due to my very oily fair skin with pink and cool undertones. The first time I tried it I nearly panicked and thought I was going to have a sunscreen disaster due to the orangeness. I do think the matte is matte especially compared to the original formula. The matte eventually blends in pretty good but its a lot of work to get to that point. I am worried I am walking around looking orange and I’m tempted to return the matte formula :/

    Yeah.... their original fair is orange as hell on me. Is this universal shade talk from brands is garbage... there’s a big gap for both darker skin tones and very fair who have pink undertones. I don’t know why on Earth everything is orange,..... both black and white people can have pink undertones I’m sure, yet the market is saturated for orange.... 😂

    I just don’t have time in the mornings to let that huge of an amount of sunscreen to soak in. I work indoors with no windows and just have a 20 minute commute each way so I’m hoping that the decent amount I do apply is enough. Now if I was going to be doing something outside I would definitely put on a larger amount.

    ColorScience has come out with a bunch of new SPF makeup products since the last time I purchased from them (and they are having a 25% off site wide sale right now). They have several types of primers (that are all spf 50), color correctors, cream contour palettes, cream bronzers, powder bronzers, highlighters, pressed powders, setting powders, lip oils, and eyeshadows… holy shit! How does one decide!!! Do you know of where I could find a review/demonstration of all of these products? I can’t seem to find any on TH-cam except from yours & some really old ones from 5+ years ago.

    • @3llemc
      @3llemc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe try k-beauty sunscreens? They use chemical filters but they're different from the ones used in the US and are supposed to be incredibly light. Also, keep in mind the studies on chemical sunscreens were done on rats at a MUCH higher dosage than we would ever use. I recently heard someone saying you'd have to wear chemical sunscreens for over 200 years to cause any hormone disruption. We 100% need more testing though. It's so strange to me that the US is so far behind in sunscreen innovation
