I love SPF makeup. It’s really common in Japanese and Korean makeup btw, where many foundations and setting powders in Japan have SPF. I was in Japan and bought tons of the Canmake Marshmallow powder SPF50, Ihada powder and Cezanne powders which are also SPF50. I know powders have poor spf protection but J Beauty has tons of SPF face powder brands, although most are only on amazon Japan in terms of importing.

Try the Jane Iredale concealer. It’s also an SPF and has a metal applicator. I’ve found it much more effective as a concealer and it doesn’t crease nearly as much as the color science one (which was my old go to). You can actually use the Jane Iredale as a corrector if you have dark circles like I do and then concealer goes over it nicely, still way less creasing. The Color Science creases like crazy on me even after powder and even worse with concealer over top.

Thank you for doing this video. I sure wish there was more supply & demand for these types of products.
My favorites (FWIW - after trying hundreds of products):
    SUNSCREEN (no makeup days) -
    • ClarityRx Physical Defense SPF 50
    • EltaMD Physical SPF 41
    • Cotz Flawless Complexion SPF 50
    • Australian Gold SPF 50 (in Light, but it’s still a little too dark on me)
    • Vanicream Facial Moisturizer SPF 30
    • Cetaphil Redness Relieving moisturizer SPF 40
    MAKEUP -
    • Mizon Snail Repair BB cream SPF 50 PA +++
    • Dermablend SPF 50 Camo foundation/CC cream (full coverage)
    • The Saem SPF 30 concealer/brightener
    • Physician’s Formula SPF 30 mineral airbrush pressed powder/BB & CC creams
    • Dermatone Mineral Lip balm SPF 30
    • Colorescience SPF 50 color balms (blush, bronze, pink sky)
    • Brush On Block SPF 32 lip oils
I hope this can help someone ❤
(My skin: Oily, acne, redness, sensitive, aging/55yo, light Fitzpatrick 2)

    Great video.
Physicians formula has multi sticks that are spf and are for lips, cheeks and eyes and run around $15 or so!
I have one and love it.
Color science is too expensive for my budget.
L’Oréal is good and also sun bum and revlon both have tinted lip balms that are broad spectrum spf and are both under $7.

I haven't read through all of the comments but in Canada at least, the government required makeup with SPF to have a "Best Before" date. In response, the makeup companies stopped adding sunscreen. As a result, I stopped using those products. I have been on the lookout for replacements, especially lip products. I am really happy that you have filmed this video because now I know of a few brands to look for. Thanks!

The problem that I can’t resolve is that sunscreen directions and dermatologists say that sunscreen doesn’t work after 2 hours; the formulas break down. So I just keep slapping sunscreen on top of my makeup. It’s a dilemma.

Love this video abbey!! Just be careful about mixing sunscreens with avobenzone and zinc oxide- and/or octinoxate- containing sunscreens because zinc and octinoxate and destabilize avobenzone (and vice versa) and then you’re canceling out your UVA protection ❤

    • @kzvegansuperstar
      @kzvegansuperstar ปีที่แล้ว +3

@sirireddy4382 correct, and it depends on whether the zinc and titanium are coated- still, I see many people on social media layering sunscreens that may have interactions between their UV filter systems and the risk of destabilization of UV filters isn’t discussed. it’s important for consumers to be aware that layering different filter systems on top of each other isn’t risk-free

Colorescience makes a product called sunforgettable total protection face shield spf 50 in bronze. I use it as a liquid bronzer or to mix in my color science sunforgettable face shield flex to darken a bit if I want a more tanned appearance. They are both great products and the bronze one could be mixed into any foundation or complexion product to deepen it. ❤❤❤great review!

Avene makes a sunscreen cream foundation product but a very limited shade range. I love the product though. Bare Minerals had a mineral spf cream eyeshadow/wand style with a doe foot for fast application that was soooooo good years ago in a bunch of shades/it was my HG for summer. I’ve even sent a DM to their product rep to bring it back- it was so innovative for their time! Great video Abby! (Colorscience is so good just soo $)❤❤❤

Would love to see a full Colorescience video at some point - but I know they're not big on working with influencers and their products are pricey (but so worth it). They have a product for every category of product you put on today - sunscreens, primers, foundations, 6 shades of color balms that can be used as blush, lip color, eye color, highlighter and bronzer, eye shadows, setting and shaded powders, setting mists, even mascara! I stopped wearing makeup 3 years ago when an aesthetician introduced me to the brand and use nothing else. While the brand is pricey, the products go a long way and I actually spend less on this brand then I would if I were wearing regular makeup. May have to try those supergoop lipshades - they look amazing!

I was actually looking to see if someone would comment on this. Lab Muffin Beauty has posted a couple of videos explaining why you shouldn't mix sunscreens if you want to check them out. It basically changes the way the products dry on your skin and causes some quite literal holes in your SPF protection.

Supergoop must have reformulated its cream eyeshadows. I got a set of them a few years back, and they were all chalky, patchy, and a huge disappointment, especially for that price. Good to know that they’re a great option now, thanks!

Just wondering... have you ever made (or thought about making) a video dedicated to your research regarding sunscreen, and why it's important to wear it every day?
I have tried to explain to some people why we need to wear sunscreen every day, even when working from an office, but I don't feel like my research is as thorough as yours might be!
I'd love if I have a little 20-minute-or-less video I can point people to, and be confident that I'm giving them a well-researched resource.

Hey abbey! I've been following you for years now, and I love your channel! I've sent this to you on Instagram too in the hope you'll see it or someone can direct me to a video of yours maybe I don't know about ❤️
For a hair care video I'd love to see guidance for people really into fitness or maybe work in hot environments and are constantly sweating or who work jobs where their hair being out of the way or secured is really important and the loose or down hairstyles aren't practical.
I am a personal trainer and crossfit coach, and my hair needs to be secured and out of the way to do my job, and it's also constantly soaked in sweat.
For myself and I can imagine also nurses, servers, factory workers, ranch workers, chefs, people in service, and others who want to take care of their hair this is a real challenge! I'd love to see content for advice for people like myself who might struggle with walking the line of practicality and care!

Great video, came at the perfect time! I just ordered a bunch of japanese and a little bit of korean spf make up, which are all extremely affordable and high protection. For example spf concealer and powder from Cezanne, powder blush with spf 25 from Canmake (they also have many affordable powders and foundations with spf!), the Allie cream blush with spf 50 pa++++, and Bioré just came out with a sunscreen also marketed as a liquid highlight, which is very affordable too. They also have so many good lip spfs like from Nivea japan and spf loose powders, even many affordable tinted sunscreens that aren’t so orange like western ones, like ones from sana or the SkinAqua in the yellow/orange packaging. And of course so many bb creams, foundations, cushions with spf 50. Maybe good to try out for a video? (Isehan also has good powder foundation!)

Abbey, thanks for showing us these makeup products with sunscreen. Great job on putting this pretty look together! I just purchased the Colorscience Sunforgettable Flex in Medium and it’s a little too dark and yellow for me. I saw another video of your where you compared the Flex in fair and medium. Have you ever mixed the two shades? I don’t have the Flex in Fair, but I do have the new Colorscience No Show, so what I did today was put on a base layer of the No Show and topped it with a small amount of the Flex in Medium. It looked pretty good, but I thought I might get a better result mixing both Flex shades and experimenting with them. Just wanted to get your thoughts. I understand that it is ok to mix the Colorscience sunscreens as they have the same active ingredients and spf in their formulas. Thanks again for the great video!

    Such an interesting topic 🙂
I actually feel uncomfortable with the Idea of layering different products with SPF, as I am afraid the formulas may interact and affect the UV protection... I also do not like to layer any products on top of sunscreen, even if it doesn't have SPF, like skin tints and foundation, because I feel like the application process itself may remove some of the sunscreen or disturb the protective layer.
So, if I want a make up look during the day, I much prefer to find one single complexion product that I can use the full amount needed for the SPF (1/4 teaspoon) and be done if it. Like the Australian Gold I do this and it is fine. A bit thick, indeed, but at least I do not need to worry about all those nuances. Then I use a tinted lip SPF like the Ultra Violet, and put some regular blush (no SPF) lightly on the cheeks
Does it make sense? Or am I being crazy and should not worry about this?
    😋
