Calling the XB-70 program as a failure is at best misleading. It was designed to bankrupt the Soviet Union. They never would have built that POS the Mig-25, but they were afraid of the B-70 and wanted something that could hopefully counter it. The Mig was a failure because the Turmanski engines were not built for sustained or repeated speeds over Mach 3. The plane could literally hit that speed once, then the engines would need replacing.
The plane is over 40 years old from development????!!!!!…..Good grief….what do we have being made or planned today????
