You have to get the corresponding gem color of whatever the outline color is. Let's say it's a yellow outline, you need to get the yellow gem and then go back to the level where that outline was and it will now be a usable platform. The only platforms that you need not to die to get to are the Skull Route ones, which can be used to either get the rest of the boxes or sometimes even get you other gems.
Angel Tx4 you shoulf have atleast 10 time relics, whether it is the regular, gold or platinum one to open level 27 which is the hard path for hang em high to obtain the yelow gem

+Jeffrey Rutten You need relics to unlock levels 26 to 30. Level 27 (which is Hang 'em High's second entrance) requires 10 relics. When you have them you can get on the platform in the middle of the warp room and go down a level to enter those levels.

On the PS version of the game (not the newer ones) you can actually slide + double jump + super spin from the platform to the yellow gem 9:01

Yeah like the Blue gem having to avoid any crates. 2 was better though 3 is great too.
I was thinking: the gameplay is of course still perfect, but the graphics are still - 20 yrs laters - very beautifulls!

sadly my disk was scratched and it would pause during the cut scene after I beat cortex so I could never use the run feature

Open the secret warproom which opens in the middle when you get 5 relics. Then access level 27 by collecting 5 more relics.
