It's fun being out with your mother. Practice is good and you must do it more. Practice turns, moving off on hills and keep your skill level up. Happy Mother's Day to your mom and hope you all had fun together.

Practice is ongoing no matter how long you have ridden. The more pratice the better you become at slow speed maneuvering. Glad to see you helping your Mom practice. Everyone is scared at first about dropping there bike when first learning. She will become a pro in no time
Your Mom's a riot and so glad you practice and pratice at safe places. Starting on an incline is no different than on the level. Just a bit more throttle, let the clutch out like normal and let off the front or rear brake when you feel the bike want to move forward. It's that simple. You could actually practice on the level by starting up using either brake. Keep in mind the brake is holding you in place so you don't have to slip the clutch to stay in place waiting for the light to change. You got this,,, fun video.

God, she lost the plot when she found me riding at 13, and I'm sure she even worries these days, though the last time I was able to ride was a few lifetimes ago. Mom did a great job. She may want to start letting the clutch out a little and get into the friction zone and hold the bike there then give some gas and let the clutch out. but she did great.

It's nice to hear you say "do whatever is comfortable for you." I've taught some people to ride and I've seen others teach. Nothing is worse than someone trying to make an inexperienced rider do things THEIR way. If it works for them, it's safe, and they're comfortable with a different method, let them use that method! Buy a tube of bright tennis balls and cut them in half, you can use them as 6 cones. You don't have to keep them in the tube, if you don't have space in your saddle bags. Thanks for the video! Your mom rocks, and I love it when you see a dog! I wonder if I sound like that. Lol

Good bonding time , I'm 61 now ,35 odd years ago I took my mum out on my Harley 😀 she was a bad ass in her day ,she used to drive 10 tonne lorry's in the wraf ( woman's, Royal,air force ) .

I think a Slow Race is great practice for nervous people. A Slow Race is all about trusting your balance and clutch control. If they fall over it’s no big deal cause they’re barely moving.

Hi :) just wanted to say that you are truly inspiring, super laid back and I’m so happy I came across your page a few weeks ago! I bought my first motorcycle yesterday, and today I rode for the very first time. It was the best Mother’s Day! (To be fair, this is only my second Mother’s Day ever lol). I have only ever ridden a dirt bike, once about 4 years ago. Thanks for being so chill and open about your experience riding, it gave me the courage to finally get a motorcycle after 8 years of wanting to ride :)
Mom's got a sweet bike.
The safest way to do hill-start is with rear brake you have more throttle control and you can drag the rear brake a little. If you feel unbalanced when coming to a stop or are stopped with both feet on the ground push forward on the left side of your handlebars (this unstable the bike and it wants to lean to the left and since you have your left for on the ground your in control) a little and lift your right foot on to your peg and push the rear brake. It's like your counter steering but not moving. Try it out it feels much safer this way.

I try to practice at least 10 minutes every time I ride. There are so many empty parking lots it’s inviting you in! Nice time with your mom. Very cool.

I went out a ride my bike for the first time today! I stayed in first gear and just practiced taking off and stoping and turning. But it’s definitely a start, thank you for helping me work up the courage to do so!

Knowing and learning how to ride well first most people can go good in a straight line but u need more practice than that!!!!! Happy Mother’s Day to your mom and many more to come. Practicing slow speed maneuvers and hill starts is always good. I use to have a lot of trouble with tight right turns from stop. I still practice when I can. Only suggestion I’d make for those weaving exercises is pick up your speed a bit, apply a bit of pressure on the back brake and lean the bike. When I started going this, leaning felt really weird, almost like it was going to fall, but eventually, I got the hang of it, makes for tighter and accurate turns. Y’all have a great day and stay safe.

You guys are great, loving seeing you teach your mum how to ride, as for maneuverability it doesn't matter how long you have ridden all bikes are different in many ways, I started out riding Honda XL 250s back in the 70s and after about 12 years my interest changed and I bought a second hand Honda CBR 600 and dropped it in the middle of an intersection the second time out cause it didn't turn the same 🤣🤣 eventually and after a serious crash----- caused by an idiot motorist ---- I decided sport bikes were not for me and now I have my Ninja 650 that I love 😋😋 From here in NZ with our mountains all around us I smile at you looking at railroad crossing slopes to practice hill starts on, but I also love the town you ride through there with big open spaces around the houses and not all fenced in, for me following you and a few others on IG and TH-cam gives me the opportunity to be a part of your world but from a distance 👌🤘👊👊👊🙋♂️🇳🇿
Put some plastic party cups in your saddlebag, for practice session cones.

Hi Jess. I’m really enjoying your channel and have subscribed. It’s nice to see you helping your Mom, and hearing you say you both took a beginners class warms my heart. My only suggestion for others who watch this channel, and decide they want to learn to ride, is to do it on a lighter bike. Learn throttle, clutch and brake control without having o contend with 6-700 pounds of motorcycle. Once you’re truly comfortable, THEN move onto a bigger/heavier bike. I hope I don’t sound “preachy” - I just want new riders to enjoy the experience and continue riding. Managing a heavy bike can deter some new riders.
