RIP James Earl Jones, the one true king. Everything from the animation to the voice cast and the songs are just phenomenal. "The Circle Of Life" still makes me tear up.
This is the pinnacle of the Disney Renaissance. Actually, of Disney in general. Rest in peace, James Earl Jones. May he look down on us from those stars.
I’m glad I’m a 90s kid. Diseny had CLASSICS throughout the 1900s but the Renaissance is unique because it’s in a short time period. We may never have it again…
Saw this in the cinema when I was 3 years old, I'm now 33 and this is still one of the best Disney Movies ever made and Scar is still the best villain Disney have ever created.
@@lessismore8533 I don't 100% remember watching it, my Mum & Dad have told me the story of going to see it and my new born little brother sleeping through it.
2:51 there's actually an official blooper on one of the previous Blu-rays where Rafiki accidentally drops Simba over the cliff, and it's actually really hilarious!! Lol
For James Earl Jones… he’s happily sharing the clouds up there with his costars Made Sinclair and Robert Guillame. Hats off to you, Mufasa. And since you’ve already seen Road to El Dorado, The Lion King is one of two movies helmed by singer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice. Oscar winners for this movie!
This movie was the first movie I saw in theaters- I was 3 when it came out; I don't remember that much of the movie because I had fallen asleep right after a Circle of Life, and I was told that I wasn't heavy enough to hold the movie theater seat down- my dad had to hold it. this movie will always have a special place in my heart. Also, I love how Nala just charges at the hyenas right after Scar admits he killed Mufasa
The Lion King was pretty much the first animated Disney movie to have an All-Star voice cast like Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Ernie, Sabella RowanAtkinson, and Whoopi Goldberg back then Disney animated movies were not usually well known for having such well known people
Yes most voice cast usually were ones who were talented but like didn't have much if. I saw it in the theater! I was almost 10. I remember loving it. And the title screen at the beginning and end... It was like time went by in the blink of an eye. It was amazing!
30 years later and it's still one of my favorite and one of the best Disney classics films ever. I still love this movie so much at the age of 38. I went to see it in theaters 3x when I was 8 years old. This movie will forever be TIMELESS. R.I.H JAMES EARL JONES.
This movie was more than just a landmark film of Disney’s 90s Renaissance Era, it helped open the door for many future animated films of the studio to follow in its footsteps in the modern times. It was one of four movies dubbed by some people as “The Powerhouse Four.” Why? Because The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King were all box office hits and won two Oscars each for Best Original Score and Best Original Song!
My absolute favorite memory of this movie was years ago, movie theaters brought this (and a few other Disney movies) back in 3D. Since this was my sister’s favorite Disney movie, her and I went on opening night and it was a full house. Not long after it started, pretty soon everyone in the theater started to saying the lines and singing along with the songs. It turned out be one of the most fun times I’ve ever had at a movie theater ❤❤❤
This movie both fascinated and yet terrified me as a child. This was my movie growing up (alongside Toy Story 2). I used to bring out all of my Lion King stuffed animals, and I would reenact each scene alongside the movie. It has such a special place in my heart. I've watched it a countless number of times, to the point where I can (and have) quoted the entire movie from start to finish. Annoying? Very. Impressive though? Perhaps just slightly. Also, Scar is absolutely the best Disney villain, and that's a hill I will die on. The way I see it, he set out with a very specific goal and he actually succeeded, whereas so many other Disney villains fail. It's both terrifying and extremely impressive.
One of the most wisdom movies ever. One of the most iconic movies. One of the most entertaining movies. One of the best soundtracks in movies. One of the best movies ever🦁
I was born before it, but it released when I was 3 so if I did see it in theaters I wouldn't have remembered. Regardless the Lion King remains to this day a absolute classic and a masterpiece in Disney history.
*It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault and Johnathan Taylor Thomas' line delivery.* *Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken.* *Side note: Some of the character's names have meanings translated out of Swahili* *Simba: Lion* *Nala: Gift* *Mufasa: King* *Sarabi: Mirage* *Rafiki: Friend* *Pumbaa: Slow-Witted* *Zazu: Movement* *Shenzi: Savage* *Banzai: Skulk or Lurk* *Taka (Scar's original name): Dirt or Garbage* *Timon (His name actually comes from Greek): Respect or Honor*
I didn’t come into the world until 1997. However back around 2011 Disney brought The Lion King back into theaters for special 3D showings and that was amazing!🦁👑👍
the movie of all time!!!!!! I watched it all the time as a kid and saw it was when it was re-released in theaters for the 20th anniversary! It was amazing to see it on a big screen, also saw the broadway show in 2005-6 ish, when I was like 5 or 6 years old haha, it was an experience I’ll never forget to this day, this movie and it’s sequels all hold such an incredibly special place in my heart, unironically excited for the new Mufasa movie since it seems like they fixed a lot of the criticisms from the 2019 remake (no expressions, and it’s basically just a one for one remake with nothing really added) but with this new movie coming out, at least it’s an original story, that’s a good sign 😭
Sad fact: It’s almost painful to listen to the music, because Hans Zimmers dad died when he was really little. Just like Simba. So the story of lion king really connected to him on a painfully personal level. He used his whole personal pain in the soundtrack. Hans Zimmer said that this soundtrack was a requiem to his father.
I wish you two would watch Lion King 1/2 as well as 2!!! Nevermind, just saw the description. You always watch my favorite things, I swear. Keep being rays of sunshine. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of the most iconic Disney movies of all time! This was the first movie I watched and it introduced me to Matthew Broderick and the legend James Earl Jones. 20:12 RIP to James Earl Jones Mufasa’s death will devastate me more that he is gone.
Amazing reaction! I really would love to react to the rest of the franchise! I’d do it in this order: The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, and The Lion King Live Action. There is a tv series called The Lion Guard, which follows Simba and Nala’s second born Kion as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard and protect the Pridelands from their enemies; it takes place during The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and not long after its ending. Also here’s some trivia; Hyenas are actually part of the feline family and a clan of hyenas are led by a female. Also in the original storyline, they actually had planned for Scar to find Simba besides Mufasa in distraught. Scar would pick him up by the mouth and attempt to kill him. Only to be interrupted by Sarabi and the lionesses, and they would’ve thought Scar had saved him. Simba would grow with Scar being his adviser. However, the production team thought it would best for him to run away in shame, so he’d be more humble and actually grew up from his carefree life style to take his place. 🦁👑💛🧡❤️🖤
Never saw this in its theatrical day (it was Mom's decision -- and if it helps, we never saw Pocahontas either). In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen it "properly" (uninterrupted). Fun fact: after Simba fled and Scar took over, the Pridelands were never shown in daylight again, until he took it back from Scar. Thematically, the sun really _did_ set on Mufasa's time, and rise with Simba's.
I am older than this movie 😂 I was born in 1991 this came out in 1994, and it has always been my favorite movie... I can almost recite word for word, the stampede scene took Three years to complete with half the animators on the east coast and the others on the west coast...
Yes I am older than this movie; born in 1990. And I did see this in theaters but I was so little I barely remember it. Fortunately it became a staple in my home thereafter so I've got a lot of fond memories of this one as a kid. Elton John is a certifiable genius and Tim Rice is one of the best to ever do it, so in my humble opinion the music is what elevated this movie to legendary status.
This is where that "learning from the past" advice comes full circle. If you pay attention in the fight with Scar, you'll notice Simbas in the same position from whenever he wrestled with Nala. But this time, he doesn't get pinned because he kicks Scar off the rock first.
I don't think enough people realize not only does Mufasa realise that he's about to be murdered-knowing him that's probably the least of his concern-but he's just realised it's all a trap. The fate of the kingdom now relies on a tyrant. His brother finally got what he always wanted. And worst of all? His son is still alive. He knows simba's still alive because he got him onto the perch before he tried to get himself to safety. Mufasa knew scar was going after simba next, and he couldn't save him.
Since I’ve already said in the first reaction that this is my favorite Disney movie and my favorite movie of all time, I don’t really know what else to add. This movie is a definite masterpiece. The songs, the characters, the animation are all amazingly memorable. I guess the one thing I should point out is Mufasa’s voice acting is truly great and can never be replaced. R.I.P. James Earl Jones.
Well, Tim, Simba officially became an adult at the age of two so seeing as how he was just a cub when he was kicked out, he was most likely just a few months old so somewhere round two years he had been in the jungle.
I love this Lion king movie Simba now realized it wasn't his fault for his father's death it was Scar's. And I loved Timon and Pumba they're so funny like the hula part lol There was more movies like Simba's pride where he has a daughter Kiara in the series he also has a son Kion as a lion guard. and the other one 1/2 I think about Timon and how he met Pumba and all that.
This partial inspiration from the Shakespearean play Hamlet. Besides the remake and it's prequel, this was followed by two more animated films, two animated shows and a Broadway play. Notable voice performances in this include James Earl Jones, Madge Sinclair, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Rowan Atkinson, Cheech Marin and Whoopie Goldberg
Ok so when the Walt Disney company was making Pocahontas And the lion king Disney thought that Pocahontas was going to be the big winner so they had there better team working on it but props to the people who made the movie because it’s incredible
Hey guys, I have a little suggestion on Disney classics. Have you seen the Fantasia movies? They're good. The first one is just "Fantasia" from 1940 but then we get a sequel called "Fantasia 2000". I liked that time period. It gives nostalgic vibes with minor advancement. The movies consist of many short stories that are works of art and play orchestras in the background. I'll give you a heads-up that the final short in the sequel is my favorite among all of them. I hope you like it.
For the past few months, I couldn’t (Still can’t) decide which Scar/Skar is worse. Scar from this movie or Skar from Godzilla x Kong. Both are so evil and have done horrible things in their reign of terror.
We're losing too many legends Kevin Conroy, Jason David Frank, James Earl Jones, and recently Tony Todd. RIP to all those legends they will never be forgotten.
I feel like a lot of people miss that Scar implied that Mufasa was talking to the other lions about Simba and his roar and laughing about it, which is what leads Simba to do the roar he thinks caused the stampede. That's the signal the hyenas are waiting for.
This movie is a masterpiece and one of Disneys best movies 💛💛 Everything about it is amazing perfect story, awesome soundtrack and a really evil villain and it's also very emotional as well Mufasa's death is still so sad and of course Top notch voice cast rip James Earl Jones he was perfect as Mufasa 😢😢❤️ and Jeremy Irons was perfect as Scar. So glad you guys reacted to this and I enjoyed your reaction Also Lion King 2 is pretty good too I totally recommend it 😊👍👍
There were even other theories about like Nala having like before hand, and then she had to give him up, but those were just more theories that they came up with because of the lion King just lots of different theories, though especially about the lion King mainly just the movie because of like how some of that stuff is in the past present and future and just more theories about like creepy pasta theories because of like the movie and the series of the lion guard, but those are just more of those kinds of theories that are just like more cringe than like any other kind of theory
Hi Tim and Mal great reaction to the Lion King This is such a fantastic Disney Classic so many great life learning experiences you can take away from this movie

We're losing too many legends Kevin Conroy, Jason David Frank, James Earl Jones, and recently Tony Todd. RIP to all those legends they will never be forgotten.
32:25 I’ve been wondering that too , how long r Lion years compared to a humans
Tim, are you also planning to rewatch the live action Lion King with Malbread before the Mufasa movie comes out?
RIP James Earl Jones 1931-2024 😢
I feel like a lot of people miss that Scar implied that Mufasa was talking to the other lions about Simba and his roar and laughing about it, which is what leads Simba to do the roar he thinks caused the stampede.
That's the signal the hyenas are waiting for.
Ain't no way y'all talked over Rafiki's"learn from the past" speech lmao, still fun reaction video tho!
at the time of this video 14 20 is so funny
This movie is a masterpiece and one of Disneys best movies 💛💛
Everything about it is amazing
perfect story, awesome soundtrack and a really evil villain and it's also very emotional as well Mufasa's death is still so sad and of course Top notch
voice cast rip James Earl Jones
he was
perfect as Mufasa 😢😢❤️
and Jeremy Irons was perfect
as Scar. So glad you guys reacted to this and I enjoyed your reaction
Also Lion King 2 is pretty good too I totally recommend it 😊👍👍
There were even other theories about like Nala having like before hand, and then she had to give him up, but those were just more theories that they came up with because of the lion King just lots of different theories, though especially about the lion King mainly just the movie because of like how some of that stuff is in the past present and future and just more theories about like creepy pasta theories because of like the movie and the series of the lion guard, but those are just more of those kinds of theories that are just like more cringe than like any other kind of theory
One down two more to go because there’s a sequels.
I have a Lion King Poster in my room, still my favorite Disney Movie of all time!
This movie is great. Great songs, funniest and memorable moments. I still missed James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Long live the king
🎵🎵🎵🤴🤴🤴😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Hi Tim and Mal great reaction to the Lion King
This is such a fantastic Disney Classic so many great life learning experiences you can take away from this movie
Elephants going to a place to die is a Myth, that Myth was over way after The Lion King was made
Best childhood movie i grew up on
