    Shy, in the first scene that Scar is trying to eat the mouse, they explain that he would be next in line if Simba wasn't born, because he is the brother of the king, when the king passed he'd be king. He is plotting the murder to be king. It's the first scene of the movie.

      @@LugabyAnimationStudiosI’m sorry I’m not trying to be mean, but to me the live action lion king films will never be canon or correct, its just bad writing and unnecessary changes, in the original animated film, Scar was wrong for betraying his own brother and he is not a victim, he didn’t have a reason, he did it because he’s power hungry, evil, manipulative, bitter, envious, and selfish not to mention scar tired to kill his own nephew 3 times Scar also ended up being a failure as a leader, the live action remakes is a joke and an insult to the original

    • @blackwolf899
      @blackwolf899 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@shelovespizza9636Disney unfortunately made it cannon and ruined the entire message of the movies. The whole point of Scar is there was always a darkness in him that he couldnt escape. The live action turned him into a sympathetic character where he grew into darkness due to his fathers teachings and mufasas “betrayal”.
      Originally Mufasa was the elder brother to Scar and had the throne by right. However he was always kind and courageous, he came to Scars defense many times and cared for Scar. Scar was just bitter and desired power above all. Mufasa until his dying breath cared for his brother that never loved him in return. His brother was always evil.
      New movies ruined it. Made both Scar and Mufasa less likable, hell even Simba himself.

      @e9cw196 okay I wouldn't consider the live action as cannon but here's my thoughts.
      Scar was indeed betrayed but instead of when he revealed their location to the enemy lions I would say it is after he got his name Scar.
      Here is this cub who he considered his brother, grew up together and looked out for each other but was better than him in everyway. Mufasa was a better hunter, had a closer relationship with Taka's own mother and even got Taka's father's respect after he saved his mother. We saw how often Taka felt uncomfortable when he was caught up in lies to make his appeal as king come off as a righteous leader and king. To keep it short, the only time he clearly was in the "wrong" was when he revealed the location of Pride Rock to the enemy but you can argue half of the reason was to keep himself alive.
      "You'll have your moment of courage soon"~ when it finally did come at the end, there was no thank you, no gratitude and nothing left for him.

    3:00 Since you seemed confused, I will explain real quick. Rafiki is their Majusi, I probably didn't spell that right. But a Majusi is kinda like a shaman in that he communes with the previous kings (shamen commune with the spirits) he also does the ceremonies. Like, Simba being born. He put the juice and powder on his forehead to symbolize that he will grow into a mighty lion. Rafiki is presenting prince Simba to the animals of the Pridelands as the next king of Pride Rock. But he is also presenting Simba to the previous kings. They gave their approval of Simba by parting the clouds and letting the sun shine on Simba. The animals saw this and bowed to their new prince. I love this film.

    12:18 - Essentially, yeah. Like he said earlier, Scar WAS first in line (to the throne) until Simba was born. So he can only benefit from Simba's death, because he is automatically King after Mufasa's inevitable demise. This is both why royal families throughout history had A LOT of drama/plotting/homicides and on the animalistic side of things, why male lions are so limited in individual groups, or Prides. Too many in one place, they fight too much/try to take each other or each other's cubs out. So each pride consists of maybe 3 males max (one usually more dominant), quite a few more females, and their cubs. Male cubs grow up and go try to take over another pride or start their own.

  • @silverdemonwolf426
    @silverdemonwolf426 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

    I will say that this movie did hyenas dirty, they're even better hunters than lions and lions steal more meals from hyenas than the other way around. They're highly intelligent, incredibly social animals with fascinating pack structure that can often raise their status in the group just by social networking, no fighting required.
    As for lion social structure, in real life male lions will leave their original pride (females stay with the pride their whole life) when they're a couple years old, and either survive on their own, strike out with one or more brothers as a small group, or find other lone males and form a close friendship. Once they reach their prime, male lions will battle the males of a pride to try and take over. So it makes sense that the pride only had Mufasa and his brother Scar as the resident males, and if Simba had had brothers, they either would have been taken out by Scar after the stampede or run off with Simba. As he didn't, he's the only adult male of the pride now. So a pride being one or two males (I believe a pride can have up to four close bonded males if the group manages to take over a pride) and many more females is very real to life.
    Insects are a pretty protein-rich food, and I always assumed that Simba learned to fish and likely snack on edible fruits and plants in the jungle to round out his diet while growing up with Timon and Pumbaa. Lions (just like all cats) are obligate carnivores and NEED meat, and I'm glad the movie didn't shy away from it. The difference is Mufasa likely only had the pride hunt when they actually needed to, the rest of the time the herds knew they'd be left alone. Scar had them hunting all the time to satisfy the hyenas, so between that and a clear drought drying up the grass it makes sense for the herds to have left.

    • @reginarichards6261
      @reginarichards6261 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hyenas operate in clans not really packs, as pack structure is almost entirely reserved for canids/canines. I also wouldn’t say they are “better” hunters, but definitely more “successful” hunters. There is so much more context within that part of your statement that is missing (regions, numbers, prey populations) as that statement has been taken out of context a lot over the years. But in short, yes hyena are incredibly intelligent, very social and efficient hunters. But the reason they are more successful is because they target and the majority of their kills are infant, weak or older animals. Not to say they don’t take down healthy prey species too, but the majority of kills are smaller prey species. Lions however hunt larger species that make the predominant preference of their kills in order to sustain larger appetites and bigger mouths than hyena clans. Cape buffalo, Giraffe and if given the opportunity, elephant, rhino and hippo (in exceptionally desperate circumstances of course). These are animals hyena wouldn’t typically go for but if so, it is small or weak individuals. Lions will do the same too, but they take down large prey more often than hyenas do because they have no choice. Hyenas can and have been known to hunt larger prey species, but also the majority of hunts aren’t killed efficiently or effectively- hence they are renowned for eating prey alive. To that, they also tend to scavenge more food from Painted hunting dogs as well . And ironically enough Painted hunting dogs are the most successful apex hunters on the African continent and vastly more successful and efficient than both lions or hyenas.
      This of course isn’t to take away from the fact that neither Hyenas, painted dogs or lions are indeed powerful apex predators in their own ways, and own right.

    So idk if anybody commented this yet. But Scar is a nickname. Scar's actual name was 'Taka' which translates into wate/useless/trash. Where Mufasa translates into king. So his whole life he has literally been told that he is literal garbage while his brother is the king of the world. It doesnt excuse his actions, but i think it does add to the story and explain a lot of Scar's resentment towards his brother. I feel like his parents are definitely at fault for him being so bitter and power hungry and thats what im hoping the Mufasa Series shows when it comes out.

    It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault and Jonathan Taylor Thomas' line delivery.
    Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken.
    Side note: Some of the character's names have meanings translated out of Swahili
    Simba: Lion
    Nala: Gift
    Mufasa: King
    Sarabi: Mirage
    Rafiki: Friend
    Pumbaa: Slow-Witted
    Zazu: Movement
    Shenzi: Savage
    Banzai: Skulk or lurk
    Taka (Scar's original name): Dirt or Garbage
    Timon (His name actually comes from Greek): Respect or Honor

    Idk if anyone explained but the reason the pridelands were all dried and dead is because Mufasa control the clouds, when Simba left Mufasa followed him and so there was no rain for the grass and land, so put the fact that there was no grass and water plus that hyenas were over hunting there was just no prey anymore, the rain only came back when Simba returned, also neat detail at the end everytime Scar lied thunder was striking which meant that it was making Mufasa really mad.

    4:26 Scar was born with the name Taka. Meaning trash or waste in I believe Swahili. He tried to take the throne from Mufasa by trying to frame him as unfit to be king, as he felt it unfair that Mufasa was king because they were either born at the same time, or Scar was slightly older. I don't know the specifics just that a Cape Buffalo's horn gave Taka his Scar was then known as Scar. Mufasa may not have even known his brother was trying to frame him. However, there is another account that says he was led into a cobra's nest in the kids' show called the Lion Guard, however, I have seen that show at least 4 times and that is not mentioned. And they call the lion who was led into the trap Askari, which is a different lion altogether.
    My headcanon is actually that Scar got his scar from Mufasa after attempting to overthrow him. But, none of these theories are really confirmed.

    • @Stratelier
      @Stratelier หลายเดือนก่อน

      I imagine that had Scar attempted (but failed) to overthrow Mufasa, he would have likely been exiled from the Pridelands. Unless, of course, it was a clandestine affair (like the wildebeest stampede) that Mufasa couldn't trace back to him.

    This is the best movie Disney ever made and my favourite movie of all time. A lot of people don't understand why animals that are lions prey give reverence to the king or why Simba can make the pride lands fertile and green again after reclaiming the throne. This is because the animals know their place in the circle of life which we know as the eco-system. Mufasa and Simba hunt only for survival. During Scars regime they over-hunted causing animals to migrate away from the area which had a domino effect on all other living things. EDIT- Yeah you got it.

    This movie is a lot darker, but that's why I love it. Cause in the 2019 version, it was a little dull.
    When it came to some personality of it, but I have to admit the challunch bit symbol VS scar was a little bit better on the 2019 1 than the 1994 1 but. Scar in the 1994 version was actually a lot better than the new version. It's because he was more darker and more evil. And that's how a villain should be.

    Amazing reaction! I really would love to react to the rest of the franchise! I’d do it in this order: The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, and The Lion King Live Action. There is a tv series called The Lion Guard, which follows Simba and Nala’s second born Kion as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard and protect the Pridelands from their enemies; it takes place during The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and not long after its ending. Also here’s some trivia; Hyenas are actually part of the feline family and a clan of hyenas are led by a female. Also in the original storyline, they actually had planned for Scar to find Simba besides Mufasa in distraught. Scar would pick him up by the mouth and attempt to kill him. Only to be interrupted by Sarabi and the lionesses, and they would’ve thought Scar had saved him. Simba would grow with Scar being his adviser. However, the production team thought it would best for him to run away in shame, so he’d be more humble and actually grew up from his carefree life style to take his place. 🦁👑🖤💛🧡❤️

    I am not sure how true it is, but I heard somewhere that Mufasa was still alive when simba ran off after the stampede. Scar was the one who kills him after. So, at the end of the movie when scar admits he killed Mufasa it makes more sense. Otherwise technically it would have been the hyenas fault for causing it to happen, the herd that didn't part for him, or back to Scar for telling the Hyenas what to do.

    This movie is based off the Shakespeare play Hamlet and this is a more family friendly version believe it or not. This is however my absolute FAVORITE Disney movie franchise, the only Lion King movie I didn’t really like was the live action remake. Mufasa is amazing tho, and gives you a good back story on Mufasa and Scar.

    Happy new year!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 If you want to watch another masterpiece, can I recommend you to watch Prince of Egypt by Dreamworks (1998)? It is about the Biblical story of Moses but both religious and non religious people can enjoy it!! The animation is stunning, mostly traditional hand-drawn 2d animation mixed with a bit of cgi sometimes, lots of symbolism in the animation, the music (ost and songs) is AMAZING, the story is bittersweet and the relationships and characters are humane and complex… for me it is pure cinema.
    Btw, I just subscribed to your channel I just love how you just feel each movie, the music…

    Please don't watch The Lion King 2019 (Or Mufasa) without the knowledge that everything about it is worse. More drawn out, the story changed forcing them to cut out some pretty iconic stuff, Be Prepared doesn't work and is a mildly upset lecture. I have a problem with very frame of the Lion King 2019. I haven't seen Mufasa, but I know that they changed the key story point/ motivation for Scar. Scar and Mufasa are not brothers by blood. Scar was adopted. Which is not gonna remotely work. I hate that they feel the need to remake and make sequels while only changing a few things, that to an outsider looking into my perspective would think is insignificant. But it absolutely isn't. Typical rule of thumb for remakes, sequels and turning movies into tv shows, You change everything or nothing. You can't change character's gender, relation, race, names, etc. Those traits are there as part of the story telling. You change one, you will find 5 to 10 things about the story that you have to change down the road as a sort of after thought to keep your story together. I petition the remakes and unnecessary sequels (i.e. Toy Story 4, Cars 2 but oddly enough Cars 3 was a nice send off, so that one is fine.) be discontinued. Meaning we make no more. GET CREATIVE again Disney, Jeez! Stop disrespecting the originals (and ruining my childhood favorites) by changing them. You are basically saying," They didn't do it right back then, *I* can do it better." Then, they make the movie again but 1 million times worse than the original! Sorry didn't mean to rant.
