First, a caveat: I'm not into it for competition shooting. I use quiet ammo for pest control. I live within the city limits but keep farm animals (chickens, quail, rabbits). So I deal with varmints, mostly possums, although we have seen raccoons in the neighborhood as well. Quiet-22 lets me dispatch varmints (or rabbits for butchering, for that matter) without the neighbors even taking notice.
I haven't bought any of the "Semi Auto" variant of CCI's Quiet-22, but I've shot quite a bit of the standard, non-Semi Auto Q-22 rounds. They don't cycle in semi autos but I use them in my Henry lever action .22, which cycles Shorts, Longs and Long Rifle just fine. It has an 18.5" barrel, so I reckon I'm getting pretty much the stated muzzle velocity.
My wife and I have also shot them in our Ruger Wranglers, just for fun/target practice. The report is quiet-ish from a revolver, but out of the rifle, it's no louder than a cap gun. And they're pretty accurate.

Thanks for watching and the good feedback there!

The regular Quiet 22's will cycle and eject from my MP15-22 BUT it wont chamber the round from the mag. So after every shot i have to manually load like single shot.

Ah, wonder if it it's because it's in rifle form.

@@58Alpha No clue but i do know that regular cci mini mags also have issues chambering in this same MP15-22, something about the design of the bullet head makes a difference on whether or not it will chamber smooth. I can load up 25 rounds and about get about 10 jams ....
Thats why i have to use cci ar tacticals in this AR, apparently the ar tacticals have a special design bullet nose to allow easier loading into an ar load ramp and they chamber with ease and 100% of the time.
I am going to get the Quiet 22 semi auto and try those in this MP15-22 as well as my 10/22 ....

@@ACommenterOnTH-cam That's the thing about .22LR ammo. I have a lot of malfunctions with Norma Tac-22 with the Ruger Mark IV, but I know Norma is good ammo. Just like CCI is really good ammo, it's just that firearms are finicky and each one likes its own ammo unfortunately. But as you found out, the right ammo for your rifle is the AR Tactial version of the CCI since it was made specifically for your platform.

@@58Alpha yep, cci told me those ar tacticals were made specifically for thr ar load ramps, because apparently those ar load ramps are not the same as regular gun barrel load ramps.
This is why regular 22LR rounds will get jams in ar load ramps.
Very odd but whatever, i just know the ar tacticals run flawless in my mp15-22

@@ACommenterOnTH-cam I guess it's not too odd...i mean maybe it's odd since you have a designated 22LR rifle, but you can turn a .223/5.56 into a 22LR rifle if you bought a bolt conversion kit and then the feedramps are not meant for .22LR rounds and then you'd have an issue maybe.

Thanks for testing this and showing the chronograph results. If it will cycle a pistol it should have no problem cycling a rifle. This sounds like a great round for dealing with varmints or target shooting out of a rifle in noise sensitive areas. Even out of your 4.4" barrel, it is still putting out the same energy as a 25ACP. Not bad at all.

Thanks for watching, yes I love the ammo, super low recoil and for sure it should cycle a rifle like a 10/22, I havne't found a round that it hasn't ate up! Out of a rifle barrel, it'll sound even quieter-even without a suppressor

    what recoil???

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Exactly haha it's so light, it's hard to measure. But, due to physics, there is recoil. It is Newton's Third Law of Motion that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When a gun fires, the bullet goes one way, the gun the other-it's commonly known as recoil.

Why are you shooting this ammo without a suppressor? Makes no sense.

I'm not sure....talk to the ATF about that and get them to speed up their wait time. I also shoot without a suppressor for competition.

i shoot the Quiet 22's without a supressor, they are NOT loud at all.
