I know! I was really concerned that there was internal damage from the push rod being completely loose. I went back later and fully adjusted them cold and set them to I think .004 and .006!
I’ve seen people leave the broken push rod or bad compression release arm in sump Then later it blows up engine and destroys the block, completely destroying the engine
I adjusted them with feeler gauges after making sure the motor wasn't trashed from the push rod coming loose, and it didn't solve the ticking noise. My guess was the cam got worn out from something and caused the rocker arm to become loose.
If this was a restoration, I would definitely be using the manual, but my whole goal with my videos are to show you don't need a manual just understanding how the item works and then working through it.
I Think That You Should Get A Better Tripod. You Don't Need To Have The Motor At Top Dead Centre To Adjust The Valves , As Long As One Is Down ,You Adjust The Other One That's Loose.. Also You Should Check The Oil Level And Condition Of The Oil before Starting A Machine That Hasn't Been Running A Long Time. If You Thought The Valve Was Bent, You Should Have Checked It On A Flat Surface Before Using It In The Engine. If It Was Bent You Should Have Replaced It... How Could You Sell It Knowing That It May Have A Bent Pushrod ?? NO Thumbs Up For This ONE
Probably a rusty stuck belt
They make feeler gauges to set the valves

This was a brutal video to watch.
never hit a mower starter with a hammer- you will break the magnet
This is the funniest one I’ve watched in a while 😊
I'm glad you thought this video was funny! I really try to just have fun and enjoy tinkering as my wife calls it!

Use jumper cables to ground engine
Can you try to readjust and cure the slapping noise. Maybe they are just set to loose :) Thank you for sharing :)
Thanks for the feedback!! I actually tried to adjust it off the camera, and it didn't work😅😅
12volt bulb tester would have saved you from taking starter off.
You're right it would have, but the 3 bolts I had to remove weren't hard to do. Thanks for the comment!!
What did you do with your values😱😭 please get some feeler gauges and get them adjusted right, it’s killing me slowly 😳😳😳😳

Nice Hat, :)
Thank you!!
You're in trouble. Read the manual before you touch any engine.

Son you need mechanic training
Bye
A new camera will NOT substitute for some basic electrical troubleshooting skills with a simple test light or DVOM.
dvom
Looks like you need a few more watching so I will help

I only want to see the engine set up
