  • Now that the weather is getting nicer, trying to make the most of these early mornings. Took the Aeronca Chief up to one of PA's prettiest airports, Van Sant. It's a field that takes you back to the golden age of aviation. Grass strips, old airplanes and great people. (and Cheeseburgers)

Beautiful Chief! My dad restored a Chief and a Champ in our garagde when I was in high school. I love those little planes!

I was at Van Sant Tuesday afternoon. Always a great place to pop in. Super nice folks and the airport cat and dog are just as friendly.

Your short flight to Van Slant is a great reminder why we are so lucky to be pilots in America. Well done.

I appreciate how you show the different landing angles separately. Great video showcasing the chief! (Also appropriate aircraft for your history lesson with the settlers and native Americans :-P)

Thanks for bringing back a great memory of mine. My dad took me to Van Sant in the 1980's for a glider ride when I was around 12 years old. I also seem to remember Joe F doing work on his J3 that he kept over at Red Lion at the time.

Van Sant is a sweet little place with the nicest folks. I got my ticket here and still rent the Cub weekly. Worth a visit especially on weekends in the summer. On a nice day it's really a hopping place! County park, lots of bicycles, motorcycles, old cars, kids and dogs, the occasional horse, old planes galore, and good burgers and steaks, handmade fries....

What a beautiful morning to fly. I was watching carefully, and it appears the roughest part was the roll out and taxi.
100 in cruise, my chief never saw that. Your aeroplane must be rigged better than mine, or maybe lower time on the engine. Safe travels Joe, as always love your videos.
